If someone wants an EV for the sake of having an EV it’s one thing. But don’t fool yourself that you are “saving the planet” or some such nonsense. There’s nothing “green” about it.

I am not fooling myself that I am saving the planet, I am just saving few hundred dollars per month, while getting used to what's coming in the future.

My goal is, to be off the grid totally in few years.

If enough people aim for the same goal, that would be a planet saving plan.

  2. I did, and i can have my all system, installed, up and running for under 80 k.  My average monthly electrical bill will drop by one thousand usd. The system will pay for itself in about 6 years. Keep in mind it is a 50-kw system.

As for EV, I got an entry level BOLT EUV Premium few months ago, dipping my toes into the EV ecosystem, and so far, my passive savings, going from gas to electric, is about 350-400 dollars a month (monthly driving 2500 miles/month: 13.5 cents/KW price v/s 3.49 dollars/gallon).

I plan to buy a bigger more luxurious EV car early next year.

  3. I am looking into solar system, I have few acres around my house, and the panels won't be on my roof. I was quoted for 50 kw system, came to over 100k usd. will offset my current usage from electric company by 80%. My average bill will go down by about 1 k / month.

I am still thinking about it.

  4. Cash is and remains King, however it is frowned upon by the banks and institutions. i was closing on a house recently, and i jokingly answered the mortgage officer: I will use my "mattress money", when asked about the source of the down payment.

She literarily freaked out and demanded that every penny used for that end to be documented where it came from, otherwise no loan.

I guess piggy banks belong to history now.

Doing a little research ahead of time of a possible La Scala II purchase.  I'd like to try tubes and thinking $1500 is my max on a good integrated setup.

I saw suggestions of the Quicksilver Horn Mono's but that doesn't leave any $$ room for a pre-amp.  I read really good things about the Cronus Magnum and think I may be able to get close to my price for the 2nd version.  I think for sure on the first version.

But I did see a couple mentions of the CM having some noise with the heritage speakers.  Anyone here have this combo care of chime in?  I'd, of course, would like to avoid noise and hum if this combo is prone to that.

I will most likely just use 1 source, probably a streamer of some sorts.  I don't believe I would mind having to bias by hand as long as the process is pretty easy, which is seems to be on most of these.  Haven't ruled out the VT-70 kit yet, but if I could get something comparable that's already built, I would probably do so.  I see Quicksilver also has a integrated amp, maybe could get lucky on price on a use unit, but I think I'd much prefer somewhere where the tubes are visible.

I got this 300B IA from Willsenton, last week with my LS II's, and the sound was amazing, and captivating. can be had under 1500 online. Not my first tube amp by any means,, but the cheapest so far, and it does hold it's against the 4-6 k tube amps I have from Cary Audio and Dennis Had, and others.

  6. I bought a 300B amp from Dennis Had, I had to convince him to build one, and after he did, he liked it so much, he built a few more and sold them on his eBay store.

They sound great with any heritage Klipsch speaker, so far i have used mine with my KH 70th anniversary edition, I used a matching preamp by Dennis Had, sound is amazing, dead silent system, and plenty clean power.

Well I don't mean to speak for him. But I just learned something recently. Two models of pretty much the same speaker, one was the updated Version X that replaced the previous version W.

Some tracks, could hardly tell a difference, if at all, other tracks instantly exposed the differences. Not subtle, kind of "grab you by the throat difference.

They didn't sound like they were volume matched, one much louder than the other, sort of depending on the tracks, etc. Turns out they were matched with pink noise within 1/4 db of each other, it was just they were putting out different energy at differently and so it appeared one was "louder" than the other, but this wasn't the case. [Yes, it was mono track, left and then right, etc. ]

Then, after all of that was said and done, you had to swap them for position to rule out a corner/positional preference. In the end, it was night and day, but until you really went through the possible variables and eliminated them, for a true apples to apple comparison, you were just shooting from the hip.

That was that situation, I'm sure everyone has their way of doing it, but to figure out "is this an improvement" took hours of set up, and the 3 or 4 hours of listening, different tracks, etc., etc.

What Travis said is so true. I did keep the same placement for the H4 where H3 were placed, and the same amp, source, sub, etc. I use my MAC7200, Klipsch 15" subwoofer. and with most tracks I've played, I got the same sound signature and to my ears, the difference was minimal.

Sub crossed at 60 Hz, and again to my ears not much difference.

That says a lot about the H3's, being really good, and sounding fantastic, to me. I do like the H4 as much too, and the specs and new ports are sure improvements and deliver more, but to my ears that was not a night and day difference.

I am not a critical listener, but I do love the Klipsch sound. I enjoy my Klipschorns, CW's, Forte's, Heresy's, ...they all have different specs, but their sound, the Klipsch heritage sound is what draws me in, and that sound has only got more refined over the years, with each new updated version of speakers.

Ty Travis and Chief Bohehead for your comment

  8. I do have the H3 and H4, and compared side by side, same system. Very minutes differences, to my ears, at higher price. In fact, I prefer the H3's, Weird, but true.

I love my Forte III's, and don't have any remorse or desire to "upgrade", after my experience with the H3 vs H4's.

Enjoy your F-3's, they are amazing speakers. don't chase the "0.1% improvement" and save you $ for other components if you desire.

    My 2 cents.

  9. I recently unboxed, and hooked my brand new La Scala's II, 70th Anniversary to a Cary Audio SLI-80 HS, and the sound was just beautiful. I am still experimenting, so I hooked the pair to my new MAC7200, and although I have no room treatment yet, they sounded even better. See the short video I posted on YouTube, it shows despite the poor recording via my iPhone12, the synergy these 2 have whith is other.

Next, I will hook'em up to my PL Dialogue HP, and will see.

PS: this was initial quick and primary setup, neither the speakers nor the Mac7200 have bene broken in, just out of the box.  Source Amazon HD via Node 2i.

so did the EVO 400 sound worse than the HP Dialogue? I bought the EVO 400 after auditioning both amps but not because I thought the EVO 400 sounded better - but I was searching for the latest and greatest and I thought maybe the 400 would be a slight upgrade/update? I love my 400 but I will be bummed if the HP Dialogue sounds much better than the EVO.

they sounded the same to my ears, honestly. so i save myself 5k and returned it.

  11. I did buy and received and tested the evo400 ia, and compared to my PL HP dialogue, no sound difference was noticeable to my ears, with my KH 70th ann., and my la Scala's 7-th ann. and my forte iii's and h4.

I TRIED IT AS U CAN TELL WITH EVERY HERITAGE SPEAKERS I HAVE AND NO DIFFERENCE ION SOUND compared to the hp dialogue.

I returned it to Kevin dale, and kept my hp dialogue, and saved myself  some money.

FWIW, Newer is not always better. more of the same in this case.
