  1. My Son is in the same boat here. A few years ago he saved his pennies and bought these M40's. The noise cancellation quit working, but the headphones kept working. Then the ear cups on both sides have split. He emailed support asking if there were replacement parts and where he could find them and was told the same thing...that they were unavailable. Now on the flip side of the coin, I personally own a pair of Sennheiser HD 595's and have owned them for probably 8 years. They still sound great, but here is the thing, the felt ear cups on them have split just the same as my Son's Klipsch M40's. The only difference is, I can get replacement ear cup pads EVERYWHERE even though these Sennheiser's are at least 5 years older than these M40's. As I recall, they both cost about the same. My Son has since bought a pair of Bose earbuds and I will be buying him Sennheiser HD 598's. I know they will work for a long time and I can get replacement parts if needed. Klipsch - Please understand, once these are out of warranty, we don't mind paying up to fix a wear item. The difference here between Klipsch and Sennheiser is Sennheiser knows that taking reasonable care of customers makes for return customers. Unless I get an email stating that you are going to make replacement ear cups available, I will be purchasing Sennheiser's or others in the future and I will never purchase another Klipsch product. This experience taught me that product reviews are not the end of the research that is needed. I need to research replacement parts and customer satisfaction with the company. This issue speaks volumes as to Klipsch as a company. Klipsch doing a fellow Hoosier wrong... I'd love to spend money on a company headquartered in my back yard, but that doesn't look like it will happen again.
