    I managed to get a great deal on the Cornwall IV. Ive hooked them up to my Bryston 4BSST. Great sound to say the least. They really move alot of air. The bass is tight and palpable. I can get the volume up to about "9 oclock" on my BP26 for more than adequate volume in my large listening room. I don't hear any "harshness" or "excessive brightness" They replaced my Vandersteen 3A sigs which sounded great but the dynamoc range on these is so good that thery really present a live concert sound. They also image very well. Im very pleased with my purchase.

    Hey reviving an old thread. Badger, Im using Akitika GT 104 power amp and Akitika PR-102 pre with the DIY Cornscalas. The deal for Cornwall III fell through but now am working in a pair of CW IV which I'll initially use with the Bryston 4BSST.

    Hi, Have a pair as well. Big upgrade from the OWI's that I had. I mounted vertically at about the same distance in between. Slight toe in. Ended up getting some ball mounts because the brackets wouldn't work in my space.

    Another image from the build and some other details. Soldered the woofer connections, did some internal cabinet bracing and used GR Research NoRez (ordered and used most of 4 24x27 sheets). Mostly Kreg joinery and cabinets feel very solid. 3/4 inch Baltic Birch ply bought last year before it went up in cost. The mid horn build was not too bad but sanding by hand was tedious. These are very heavy, had to go up 2 flights of stairs from my basement/shop to my listening room. Did this with a helper and moving straps. Listening to them with Bottlehead Smash preamp, alternating between 5W/side Pass Amp Camp monos (old style) and 35W/channel Van Altstine Ultravalve. All combinations of the above work well with these.

    Klipsch Forte II, stock except for Crites crossover, sound great, good output from all drivers when playing music. With my volt meter I get 4 Ohms at the binding posts rather than 8. I realize my voltmeter is sending DC for measurement. Checked volt meter for accuracy with some resistors, seems to be working fine. Any insights?

    I have built the GT 101, predecessor kit to the GT 102. Really fun build and powered up first time without problems. Have been using it ever since but mostly with KG4 and KG 2.5.     Thanks for he replies, reviving this because I have rethought it. I have another room with perfect corners on the front walls but no rear wall, (opens onto stair landing.) Would the absence of a rear wall be a problem?

    Thanks for the replies. I’m using a Dehavilland Ultraverve preamp. I’ve enjoyed the Vandys over the years but I recently acquired some Forte IIs that I’m using in a second system with Bottlehead pre and Pass ACA monos. The Fortes got new Crites xovers. I had some Forte I’s in the main system years ago but changed to Thiels and later the the Vandys because my room was too boomy with the Forte I. My room has since been improved. Listening to the Forte II’s in the 2nd system reminded me about the visceral experience from horns and I’d like to try the Cornwall’s in my main system.

    I may have a good deal on a pair of like new Cornwall III. My current speakers are Vandy 3A Sig. My Bryston 4B SST works well with these. I saw a q/a on the Crutchfield site under the Cornwall III listing where a customer with a 200 wpc amp is advised that 200/ch is too high. This doesnt seem right for normal listening volumes but the Cornwall IIIs cease to be a good deal for me if I’m going to need to replace my amp too.

    I use the DeHavilland Ultraverve, can be had used for your budget. There is a remote version.

    My listening room/theater has acoustic foam covered with painted cloth to match the interior on front and rear walls, side wall are painted sheet rock. The foam really improved the sound (Forte II/Crites) I am interested in Khorns but the front wall covering will result in corners that have acoustic foam in half of each corner. Can anyone predict how this will affect the corner speaker performance?

    Thanks for the suggestions. I missed on a couple of CL deals but still searching. Is it recommended to remove the old veneer. If so, how? Sander/heat gun?
