  4. I had seen the pic, that prompted the reply. I was a chancre mechanic (91C), straight leg and a house at for over half my career. But I did get to play with some of the more enthusiastic members of the airborne community at Camp Frank D. Merrill in Dahlonega Ga. between 1978 and 1981. We even got a Florida vacation thrown in during a cycle break. Dedicated aircraft for transport (a C-7), and a luxurious poncho liner for bedding in the swamp.
  5. That or "Baffle them with b.s." https://press.princeton.edu/titles/7929.html Endorsements "A gem of psychological insight, social commentary, philosophical analysis, and good humor. This is the work of an extraordinarily acute, attentive, and versatile philosopher who has succeeded in addressing an audience comprised of both other philosophers and the general public on a topic of considerable human interest in a characteristically wry and engaging way. It is one of the most enjoyable and humanly illuminating short pieces of philosophy produced in the past fifty years."--Raymond Geuss, University of Cambridge

  7. Only if formulated to superconduct at near room temperatures. If a cryogenic pump is needed to achieve process temps, the aromatics in the beans may crystallize and degrade. And at those process pressures (single digit micro-torr; +/- .003 Newton/hectares), outgassing is sure to occur, diminishing the final product.
  8. Nah, I've gone Steam Punk and converted them to Rivet cats.
  9. True, but I did recently re-cap my Fluke 700G Precision Pressure Gauge Calibrator, so now I can measure brewing pressure to +/- 0.01 psi. (metric equivalent: 7.62 x 10 E-12 Newtons/hectare)
  10. Let me see if I've got this right In order to achieve proper serum caffeine levels the following protocols should be observed: -Beans to be grown in the mountains of Central or South America. -Arabica beans only, no Robusto. -Said beans to be picked by Juan Valdez, accept no substitutes. -Beans to be vetted by el Exigente, sun dried and fermented. -Roasted and vacuum packed near to the point of use. -Ground milliseconds before use inna mill with tungsten carbide burrs (titanium nitride acceptable in a pinch) -Tamped into the brew basket with 30 PSI pressure (RonCo Tamp-O-Matic) -Brewed using pressures between 8.2 and 9 atmospheres. I have just one question: Does the DynaMat go on the boiler, the brew basket or the cup?
  11. I think there is something about the Heresy that gets some females twitching. My wife hated the Heresies I had. Kvetched for years about they are ugly and too big. A move relegated them to storage for a few years. Another move and I began to make plans to set the sound system up again. I started looking at Forte's. Got a line on a pair and made plans to go and see them with my wife, making it a field trip. Then my wife asked me what I "really wanted". I showed her a pic of La Scalas. She said get them and put an end to the search. So I now have a pair of La Scala mains, which my wife doesn't mind, and a set of Heresys which she does not want me to put into service. Go figure. I can live with this.
  12. Indeed. Steve Howe iz quite good as well. Really can't argue with any of the artists put forth.
  13. Sometimes we make our own history: In the late 1980's I was an Army SSG stationed in DC. Me, my wife, three year old twins and a fresh baby daughter. Times of high inflation and stagnant wages. I went to get a punkin for Halloween. I headed for the farms, as punkin were cheaper there. After getting my punkin I noted three guys unloading a stakebed full of punkins. They were putting a few to the side, and when I asked of them, was told "Those have cracks, we can't sell them" They gave me four bigguns and I figured to boil, mash, and freeze them for baby food. Ended up with too much mash for the freezer, so I made pie. My wife loved it, so it became a habit, then a tradition. At its height, in the early 2000's I was making a gross per season (Halloween thru New Years) for friends and local charities. Now, due to a change of domicile when Intel transferred me, I am down to just a few dozen. But when I visit the Springs in season, the demand is high. I have two pies of the dozen left and those are spoken for. Partially inspired by Dominico Venetucci. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Venetucci

    What I Got Today!

Made six more pies today. Looks like the punkin will yield about 16 pies. Throughput has suffered in an unfamiliar kitchen. I can usually do 2.75-3.25 PPH (pies per hour) at home, while here I am topping out at around 1.75 pph. My high country peeps heard I was in Co. Spg, and baking. The orders are rolling in. Oh, yeah. Roasted the seeds, too. Nom nom nom.
