I've done this on multiple sets of headphones with leather and fake pads. If it sounds stupid or crazy, you're probably normal. Get a pair of (clean) socks. Choose a fabric you like. I don't perspire, I precipitate, so I like something that wicks and is soft (sensitive skin). Colors and patterns are a bonus. Cut off the foot. Roll the upper over the donut of the earcup. Trim to fit. You can use rubber cement (protect your leather first with a coat of wax) if you wish to keep things smooth and taught. Snap the cups back on.
