  1. Perfect. Why did you decide to go 3 way? I’ve read the 510 does so well as a 2 way. And matches the 402 sonically. Im looking for the center channel to be around 32” so it doesn’t block my screen. I could tilt it up a little like a heresy to help point the horn toward the listening position. Id really like to make it work passive to not have to use up another amp channel. My xilica has a spot to run a center as well though. Might as well use it.
  2. I have not. Figured I’d just jump in with both feet and hope for the best. I really couldn’t find anything but great reviews. Never seen anyone seeking to upgrade, other than maybe some tad 4002. I’d like to go to the pilgrimage, but not with the house remodel and new baby coming this year.
  3. These are some of my inspiration I’ve gathered from here if you can use a little imagination.
  4. I actually went back and forth on this idea. But with the sub sitting flush with the front wall and being kind of built into the house I wanted it to blend in with the wall. To the average eye you wouldn’t even know the room had a sub in it. The other reason is there will be a center channel sitting in front of the sub. At this point I’m wanting to build a belle style cabinet and put a 510 horn on top. Then I can do a matching walnut beauty panel on it as well. I’m not good at interior design, but I think this would look pretty sweet. Mains, sub, and center would all have matching black grilles as well.
  5. No guarantees on anything. It should be adequate til I can afford to upgrade though.
  6. This is what I’m hoping to accomplish. The tv will stow away so the projector screen can come down. That way I don’t burn my projector bulb out with my little pony during the middle of the day.
  7. My front wall is just shy of 16ft wide. I removed my sliding glass door. Built a new header and starting framing the wall in to accommodate future monoblocks and the 1802. Just enough room in between the sub and bass bins to fit a 15x15” opening. I set my height based on the bottom of the projector screen in the down position is to the top of the monoblock enclosure. My new 75” Sony will be on a folddown fireplace wall mount.
  8. I’m more of a mobile poster. It used to be so easy with the Photobucket app. I guess I’m lost anymore. I live on the western slope of colorado.
  9. I’m trying to figure out how to upload pictures again using imgur now that Photobucket doesn’t do free hosting anymore.
  10. After enjoying my Rf82ii’s and other reference II gear for 4 years, I stumbled on some modified cabinet decorator Klipschorns on Craigslist. After hearing them, I knew I had to have them. It also made me no longer satisfied with Reference gear. Even though they weren’t the B model cabinets I thought I was getting. They still sounded fantastic. Well that ended up being a rabbit hole to say the least. In one year’s time, I ended up with new Crites AA crossovers, ct-120 tweeters, A-55g mid drivers, Yamaha rxa1030, built a VTA ST-70 tube amp, Krell Kav-250p preamp, Kg4s, Marantz 2215, Yamaha 810, technics 1800 mk2, smsl dac, Anthem mca20, BenQ 3050 projector, 125” screen, Cornwalls, (3) heresies, and Forte II’s During this year I learned about the pro line. I became obsessed with all things klipsch through this fantastic forum and the klipsch groups on Facebook. The jubilee was always a pipe dream. With a little help from the man, Cory Harrison @ Paducah home theater, we made it reality. Sold off some stuff from my other hobbies and ordered a set of 2-way Jubes finished in walnut. 402/k691. Also a xilica 4080 dsp to run them. But why stop there? A KPT-1802-HLS would compliment them so well right? Well surely it would so I hit the buy button on one of them as well. A bridged crown 2002 to send awesome low frequency juice to the behemoth of a sub. The sub shipped out right away so I’ve been playing with it everyday. Learning a bit about the xilica and REW with my umik-1. It blends so seemlessly with khorns, that I can’t wait for the jubes to get here in a couple days. It has been a long hard wait from the time I asked to get them ordered to now. What a pleasure it will be to have another piece of PWK and Roy’s handy work sitting in my small living room.
  11. Looking to sell the top hats? Preferably without components or cross overs.
  12. I bought a krell kav-250p on audiogon for $770 shipped. Hooked it up in hopes to finally get a decent sound from the khorns. Fingers crossed! Bam! These things are absolutely unbelievable now! I can't express how happy I am in the difference it made. Holographic, 3D, fast, tight, clear, and man do they bass HARD. I truly believe they nearly rival my sw115 sub during bass boosted music. Completely different than I was getting from my Yamaha as a preout. Totally blown away how important this preamp upgrade was.
  13. This is not overly complicated to cut a few pieces of plywood. All depends on how comfortable you are with doing hands on. And afterwards with a fancy veneer the speakers would be worth double what they are now.
  14. I'm using the theatre bypass feature in the krell. So all my critical listening 2ch inputs are hooked to it. Then when it's movie time I can utilize the benefits of the Yamaha's superior room correction and features.
  15. Day 2: So much enjoyment even at low level listening.
  16. I'm not certain. I wouldn't have guessed it would have made such a drastic change. Even with a poor source like YouTube, on my iPad, coming through a headphone jack, converter to rca, it is night and day. The Rega hifi CD player is even another step greater, but limited in music selection. I was told told the Yamaha dac was second to none along with its room correction software. But for music it definitely doesn't agree with khorns. Maybe it'd be a good match for something like b&w or monitor audio floor standers.
  17. This was such a substantial improvement. I can't express that enough. I'm so floored right now. I made my wife listen and she couldn't believe the sub wasn't on.
  18. So I've been listening all day and these things are so amazing. Anyone out there that is using an avr is seriously missing out. I was starting to look into other speakers to buy, but now I bet I keep these forever. They are that fantastic now. I mean I was more impressed with kg4s than these horns last week if that tells you anything.
  19. I haven't had a chance to move anything other than the avr out of the way to hook up the krell.
  20. These things bass so hard now with bass heavy music I thought my klipsch sw115 15" sub was thumping. I can't describe how pleased I am. Also I think I enjoy pentode mode more than triode now.
  21. Alright everyone. The krell kav 250p is hooked up. Was it a waste of $800? My wife thinks so. But DAMN I think I got my sound back! Could be the placebo effect, but I immediately noticed low-mid bass even at low volume. It just "punches" now. It doesn't need to be cranked now to really feel the music. I have a theory that I lost my 3D imagery and soundstage because I had no low end punch. Therefore if you're missing half the frequency, you just became 2D. Anywho now the sweet spot position really seems to make the speakers dissolve and be so much more enjoyable. It is easy to feel immersed in the music. Like soaking in a hottub. I will report back soon because I have been out of town for a week without any music at all, only talk radio. So my ear could be starved of decent sound and be causing me to be overly appreciative of this new equipment.
