  1. yeah.. I kinda WANNA keep them but I have a great sounding set of Chorus 1s upstairs that I usually listen to my vinyl thru and these are too big for the downstairs room !! Look at Em !!! They're in the middle of the friggin room !! But with no tweaking at all - they image like a mutha. I just gotta sit on the STAIRS !!!
  2. OK.. Picked up those LaScalas.. Not as clean as described but they sound better than the other 3 pair I've owned. They are now playing in the background and sound GREAT !! Powered by a lil ol' Marantz 2230 and a hotrodded Rega P3 w/ a V15 - these sound SO nice.. I wish I could have something like this in the living room so I could spin LPs while i cook.. But..my wife is UNBELIEVABLY cool but just doesnt want HUGE spks in that room.. I'll give her this one OK...the spks..They sound fabulous but the "protective" paint is worn away in many places and the front right edge of one spk is bashed in. A little wood glue, a C clamp, and about 8 hrs would make a HUGE difference. But I'm not doing it myself.. I've talked to the owner and want to give someone a DEAL.. Price started at $800 but after seeing them , I persuaded him to give a little price-wise.. Again - these sound REALLY nice and, with a little elbow grease ,could be a great LOOKING pair as well.. Price is now $650 and available for local pickup ONLY ( in Nashville ).. here's pics:
  3. OK..I'm having a hard time hooking up w/ my friend who's selling them - to get pics or anymore details...please stay tuned and I'll let you know as soon as possible Links to my music ?? Well the site was taken down by Columbia some time ago and we werent out there working the cd so we didnt really care.. Cd Baby had some last time I looked but I have 10,000 ( yes TEN THOUSAND !! ) cds in my garage and would gladly (GLADLY) give you one - just send me your address.. IF you have Paypal and will send me $3 - I'll pop 3 in the mail and thats a few stocking stuffers you wont have to buy. KIDS always love our cd and there is no objectionable language, etc.. If ya dont have Paypal - dont bother sending $$. I'll send ya ONE for FREE
  4. TO ANSWERS A FEW QUESTIONS : They are Late 70s I believe ( I can get the serial #s but they are not here in front of me - But in a friends dry storage rental unit ) These are the consumer version ( not the industrial version ) and WERE raw birch but the owner had them professionally painted in black "tour-cover" - which is a rugged paint put on cases for touring. He did this thinking his band would use them as a PA. They never did. They do have some scrapes, etc..nothing bad - the worst being a 2" dent of the front side edge of one of them. I havent LOOKED MYSELF but he says he bought them new and they have all orig components. I'll take $750 for the pair. I cannot ship these - I simply dont have TIME to look for boxes, etc.. If you want them shipped and can arrange for a shipper to pick them up and pack them, etc..Thats cool but I just am too busy right now ( sorry about that )
  5. thanks INDY - my sis was amazing ?? You mean MY WIFE ?? The singer ?? That's Val - my wife Anyway - thanks for the props. Working hard - mostly producing Rock / Pop stuff here in Nashville. Still listening to lots of Vinyl on my Klipsch - bought a new Linn LP-12 and it sounds GREAT..other than that..same ol same ol Val and I are gearing up to do another record.. More Indie this time. When we signed w/ Columbia- we WERE more indie rock and they kinda "popped" us up for the Dawson's Creek crowd I was JUST listening to the demos that got us signed. Man..they are WAY better than the actual record....kinda ridicuolus actually - they should have just mastered and released the demos.. ANYWAY - WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE SOMEONE BUY THESE LASCALAS !!!!
  6. "Forgive me Father , it's been 1 year since my last post" I was once known as "Lascala Dan" here - but alas - have gotten so busy doing music that I have "back slidden" I have a nice pair of LaScalas for sale for $750 - PICKED UP IN NASHVILLE I'll try and get pics asap email me at DanStrain@comcast.net NOSCraig can vouch for me - he bought his Lascalas from me as well
  7. I'm brokering these for a customer who bought a Thiel system and asked if I would try and move these. They are all in really nice shape w/ orig. boxes and manual. The RC3 center and the RS-3 rear dipoles. All in Black ash. $500 for all three..anyone interested??
  8. Kelly, I'M up for sending this to you first if Alan's cool with it. Alan ??
  9. CONGRATULATIONS ALAN ("arfz28")-YOU GOT YOURSELF A SCOTT 299 !!!!
  10. From Craig : "All under chassis coupling caps replaced I think with Paper in Oil but might be Orange Drops pull the bottom cover and check if they are green and pink/red ones then they are paper in oils if they are all orange then Orange drops), replaced Selenium rectifier with new SS Full wave bridge rectifier and adjusted dropping resistors, I believe I rebuilt the phono section with 1% metal film resistors (2 of the 12AX7's should have blue small resistor all over the tube socket if I did if I didn;t it must of been quite with the factory Carbon comps) and also checked and replace all other out of spec resistors. Then of coarse all the new tubes you bought- Sovtek EL84M, EH12ax7s (Brimar/Telefuken copies), and NOS phillips something or others "
  11. I actually am gathering dough for an early 60's Vox AC-15 ( which is "alot of ducats" ) BUT if Kieth or whoever buys it..Maybe they will be patient enough for me to send it to YOU ,Kelly, for review, etc and then you send it on to them..Keith ?? Any takers ?? I'll do this thing shipped anywhere reasonably close for $300. It's great and the phono stage IS nice but if I'm off'ing the CWs- I dont need this anymore..(and it gets me $300 ducats closer to guitar amp "nirvana")
  12. AS far as the MF stuff, they have really developed alot in the last few years. They arent a direct order company w/ internet importers like Audio Advisor anymore. Their stuff is still incredibly well built- OVERBUILT - but has come a long way. All the X-Can stuff is gone except the phono stage and headphone amp and its all full size components. Huge transformers w/ full choke regulation. Pretty awesome stuff. The new A308 has been reviewed w/ quotes like "Sounds more tube than most tube amps, etc" and they'll be using that in their media push. I owned a Jolida 302 when I first got the MF A308.And had a 502 before that. I only took it home to better know the amp so I could be a more knowledgable salesman. I never expected to keep it !! But the 308 was lusher, smoother, with better bass control(and at $3000 ALOT more expensive).. The Tri-Vista which is just being released is supposed to be pretty incredible. That said...I love tubes ..ALOT..I often take home the CJ Premier 17 and hate returning it after the weekend!!! If youre simply curious email me privately ( Sparkledrive1@aol.com) and I'll send you the new MF literature - just so you know alittle about it..I think you'd like it
  13. I had the A300..Then the new A308 Integrated (which is LEAGUES better and way more tubey sounding than any of our CJ stuff) but I may get their new TRIVISTA Integrated..maybe ?? We'll see..It always helps to be a dealer when buying this stuff !! Kelly, which did you listen too ??
