12 Gauge wire on Woofers & 14 Gauge on K-402 Horns?

I would say your idea is right. 12 for woofer 14 for upper range. The twisted design is also smart. Make sure metal contacts are tightly held together before soldering. -
You may want to use some steel brackets inside. Fasten, then coat the screws and brackets.
