  1. Hi Guys

My buddy bought my RF7II and asked which subwoofer would best fit for around $500. Its mostly for HT & some music.

I have a 10" Velodyne which he likes but too expensive.

Could you guys recommend something for him? He says he prefers no bigger than 12".

    Thanks

    What a beauty.

It sure is....thanks Bill. Don't be fooled by 20Wpch...Luxman quotes class A operation only. It's a very powerful amplifier. (Switches to A/B after 20 watts - think max of 60-70Wpch)

When I first started looking at amplifiers I had the same mind set...more watts is better. For efficient speakers my mind set has definitely changed.

  3. I tthink the Hegel is out of my budget for now, I also dont know if I want a seperate preamp or an intergrated, I do know I want something newer, so not too old. Anyone else with more ideas? What are ya'll using with your RF7's?

I took my Luxman over to a friends house to audition his RF7II....amazing with my
    Luxman 550AX.

  4. Difference between RF-7ii and RP-280F is all about the tweet.  Basically RP-280F is still just a normal tweeter, and yeah the horn tricks it into acting more like a compression driver but at the end of the day it's still somewhat of a hybrid solution.  RF-7ii is an actual compression driver, the real deal.  Low volume it's actually hard to tell them apart.  High volume, things like glass breaking just isn't the same, RF-7ii is totally in control, very crisp, magical tinkling sounds... RP-280F just isn't quite the same.  It's nice, but still.  Only problem is that the RF-7ii is kinda bright sometimes.  The new RF-7iii is supposed to be more toned down with a ref premier like sound, the best of both worlds.  New horn, new compression driver, new crossover.  Supposed to be smoother, better imaging, less hot spots, not as fatiguing, etc.

Bright is preferred by some and also good for HT I think. What's your thoughts on the RF7iii fronts being covered with black? Klipsch is covering up the wood grain of their flagship speaker?

  5. I had to make the exact same decision this week. RF7II or Forteiii....I don't like the black front of the RF7iii so didn't consider them. I have auditioned RF7ii and they sound great but I still went ahead and ordered the Forteiii without auditioning them. There's so much positive reviews of both I figured I'll go for the looks I prefer in 2Ch audio setup. I might still get a pair of RF7II because I know how great they sound & for the price you can get them for right now. Sounds like you are leaning towards Forteiii so I would say go for it!

Interested...could you explain to me if this would be a worthwhile upgrade from my Marantz SR7005 7.2 HT receiver. I think its 110W per channel class D.

I heard that a separate power amp on my HT would make a huge difference. So 110 receiver watts vs 140 power amp watts per channel.

Your amp's appearance matches my SR7005

    Thanks
