  1. Just an updated picture of the Klipsch Atmos uptop the towers. I'm thinking of painting the Atmos enclosures so they aren't so intrusive looking:
  2. Have to yet to setup the RP-500SA under a vaulted ceiling [waiting on wiring and connectors]. I'm hoping that the slope of the vaulted ceiling towards the listeners will allow audio presence overhead. Ceiling speakers at this point aren't an option due to the wall bracing behind the dry wall making fishing wire impossible without tearing out drywall. Anyways, I'm powering two RP-500SA with two of the 5 channels from an Emotiva Gen 3 5 Channel. Should be around 300watts rms in 8ohms. I'm thinking I just might get away with placing the Atmos ontop of my towers because of the sheer height of the towers which places them pretty high up in the air 77+ inches. The slope above the listeners can be seen in the second picture. To note, I went with Klipsch over KEF for a couple of reasons 1) I have a history with Klipsch [Tekton only offers inceiling overheads 2) the sensitivity of the Klipsch is much greater than KEF 3) I'm not convinced any difference in sound is going to be noticeable because, after all, we're bouncing sound [reflecting] off a surface.
  3. Don't know if comparisons are aloud here but I'm looking at Tekton Double Impacts: https://www.tektondesign.com/double-impact.html Even for 9000.00 which was my initial budget I could pop for the Ulfberht: https://www.tektondesign.com/ulfberht-pmd-monitor.html Your thoughts?
  4. Awesome! Looks like they'd fit a product gap between the RF-7s and Palladiums. If they were also between in price I'd be seriously considering them.
  5. And just like that the speakers I was considering for 9000 are sold. As far as asking which are better, yes, I have to ask because I have not heard either so I was looking for owner input. Dunno, I love the Onkyo 5100, I'm sure the equipment I have may be low end compared to pros but I was shied away from Marantaz and even Emotiva processors due to reviews. The Onkyo 5100 is their flagship minus built in amp, it's a preamp with 11 channels XLR etc. I was guaranteed various setups with Onkyo that I did not see with others regarding a 3/2/2 setup. Me asking here on the Klipsch forum actually has a lot of weight in my future purchases. I'm totally happy with Onkyo 5100 and XLR outputs connected to my Emotiva Amp. I plan to either send the Amp back to Emotiva to take advantage of its modular design or purchase another. I've already sent it back once, ordered it originally with 3 channels and ordered up another 2 for five. I'm not sure if I want to add four more channels to the existing amp (same power supply) or just purchase another four channel amp to drive my existing F8s as surround as well as adding two more Atmos. Regardless of whether the Palladiums are 9 thousand or a hundred thousand I'm left to reviews and forum posts unless I pay for a flight to Klipsch to listen to these speakers first hand. As is now I'm leaning more seriously to the RF-7s. I see the Palladiums have a 3x8+ with horns and tweeters. That's 3 RF-7s and horns. The price to me wasn't that drastic at a few thousand dollars difference. The question in my mind was whether the Palladiums live up to their price tag. They definitely are eye candy and I could see investing additional money for furniture and a conversation piece. As of now I see Amazon has these speakers for 15,000.00. I''m not interested at that price.
  6. Has anyone listened to these two speakers? I'm coming in the market and don't know whether to purchase the Palladium or RF7-3s. My current system consists of an Onkyo PR-RZ5100 and Emotiva Gen 3 5 channel amp with 2 Klispch F8s, , 1 Klipsch RC64-II center, 2 Klipsch Synergy 12s and two Klipsch Atmos height speakers. The setup is a 3/2/2. I want to make this my last speaker purchase and I am wondering whether the Palladium are hands down better than the Klipsch RF-7 3s? I mainly listen to movies but occasionally play from Pandora. The Palladiums are no doubt more eye candy but I'm wondering whether they justify the price difference? I'm looking to spend up to 9,000.00 dollars.

    Car Thread

Nothing really special. A 2012 Hyundai Sonata with 18 inch rims and tires. A Rockford Fosgate 500watt amp and 2 MTX 12 in subs that complement the factory stereo:
  8. Thanks, but by quick bass notes I am referring to a track with a series of fast following percussions. Say there are ten hard hitting bass notes one after another that occur rapidly. I have never heard a 15 or 18 + subwoofer reproduce the series as distinctly as 10s or 12s.
  9. My main experience is with car audio. I was an installer for some years. 12s are definitely harder hitting than a single 15. The smaller sub will react quicker to fast bass notes. With 12s you'll be able to differentiate between quick bass notes, while 15s will rumble the bass notes. SPL wise, which many customers seek, I think 12s are harder hitting. I have heard systems utilizing 48 4" woofers (extremely quick bass notes), multiple tens, 12s, 15s, 18s, and larger, but 12s seemingly are the most well rounded size. The larger the woofer the more lazy sounding the bass notes. Less distinction is heard. I would love to hear what others think. But I tend to believe you should go for overall surface area. The area of 2 12" woofers is greater than a single 15" woofer. There should be no question as to which is going to produce more sound with quicker bass notes.
  10. I purchased my first set of Klipsch speakers nearly 7 years ago. They were in perfect condition. I moved, then shipped them to my new address. The carrier couldn't of cared for them less, and damaged the external finish. The edges of the speaker cabinets were dented or were caved in. So I spent the weekend stripping the veneer, and painting the speaker cabinets and filling in the damaged areas with bondo. I don't have a garage or heavy equipment so only a refinish with paint would suffice. I used a grain rocker to simulate the wood grain in the finish. Lastly, I tore off the speaker grill fabric now utilizing the bare grills - I like the look better. Both of my F3s are powered by an Emotiva amp (300 watts per channel RMS). I just ordered a center channel speaker which I am awaiting delivery - Klipsch RC 64 II. Really can't wait to hear the center channel in a 3.2 system setup. My subwoofers consist of two Synergy 12". I am not a professional painter or word worker so please be gentle. I just thought some people would like to see an another finish on F3s. Especially the grills with no grill cloth (For those owning cats). Enjoy, Shim
