  1. Mikekid I did consider the SVS sub instead of the RSW, as horn and ears both recomended the SVS. But a great deal can my way and price influenced the purchase of the RSW/ Not that it was a big deal, but the rsw matched the rest of the speakers, looks good. As it turns out the RSW 15 is very good. If the SVS and HGS 18 are better than the RSW 15, then those subs must be dangerous. Good luck with what ever sub you choose.
  2. The Yamaha Rx-V3000 is driving the speakers with Sub fine. I figure the sub is self powered and wouldn't put much strain on the receiver. The RSW 15 just gets better and better with each passing day. (For me) the Yamaha is minimum power. Considering 23dbs where I crank it to, which is roughly 75% of the volume. A power amp would be nice, but could be without. When picking receivers, I had the RX-V1200 for a week or so, not sure about Yamaha v/s Denon. I called a local audio store asking if the Denon 3802 was beter than the 3000. The management assured me the Denon would blow the Yamaha out of the water) to bring down the 3000 for a horse race. The only difference I could detect was the Denon 3802 had a 1/2 a shade better bass,(less bright), not enough to be missed. The staff at the store was rather quiet, because the Denon hardly, bareley if at all, separated it self from the Yamaha. Far from blowing it out of the water. When it was over I kept the RX-V3000. Listened to some definitive tech. speakers, good bass. Those 2002s 1800.00 pr. would be great 2 channel music speakers. Built in subs, rich sounding, good bass, clean. Still the RF-7s with a RSW 15 has plenty enough bass and a nice clean sound. I wouldn't trade them, but might some day buy a second pair of speaker, only after the power amp and second RSW15. I can't believe how good this sub turned out to be!
  3. Boa, I heard or (read) you or someone once call it up-grade-itis, heehee hee heeeee! I still want to demo your equipment. Don't know when though? Meantime thanks for the help. The system really sounds good now. I am very pleased with Klipsch.
  4. Finally after many hours of complaining, asking questions, adjusting the receiver, moving speakers, making phone calls, the new RF-7s are finally Rockin and Rollin. It took the addition of the RSW-15 to bring the bass level up to where (I) could enjoy the RF-7s. (Was using the Velodyne 1012 VLF.) (There are other subs that will probably do the job, but wanted to have a matching set of speakers.) From day one it was never an issue listening to jazz or Home Theater, as the RF-7s played Jazz flawlessly and HT equally well. It was the heavy Metal and Rock music we couldn't get to sound right. Since the addition of the new sub, there are no more complaints. This sub is nice. It did seem to take a short while for the RSW-15 to either break in, or for my ears to adjust. At first I thought the new sub was defective. But then again I thought the RF-7s were defective at first too. ha! ha ha! The RF-7s are just a clean sounding speaker. And in my opinion and most everyone elses, thats listened to the RF-7s, says the same thing, where's the bass, you need a sub? (This of coarse is not the rule many people do not need a sub w/RF-7s.) We did try everything possible to bring out some bass with the RF-7s before invesing more money in a sub. Now that the money is spent, I can honestly say the RSW-15 was and is worth every penny,w/ no regrets. And might buy a second one. (Although one is sufficiant, two would be very sufficient.) It just takes TIME getting the right combination of equipment and then dialing everything in. For some it's probably fun tweaking in a system. For me it was work, and pain in the rear. But now that the work is over, my Friends, Family, Neighborhood and myself can sit back and enjoy. Next a good power amp and another RSW-15. Then I'm done.... 5. Wow, This is hard to believe! As a once constant complainer, Klipsch has always answer the phone when I called and has always been exstreamly respectful. Doing their best to keep the customer happy.
  6. This is the only place to get accurate information i guess. I think the reviewes on audioreview are honest reviews from people who are happy with there purchases or not and say so, with no motive other than to express themselves. I wonder sometimes if some of the people who post hear regularly defending Klipsch and discounting and minimizing most all others, might just be receiveing free speaker from Klipsch and OTHERS.
  7. Wonder if two RSW-15s equal one HGS 18"?
  8. Yes of coarse it is clearly a fabricated story. But sounds good. actually I thought this story was the doings of TheEARS. ha funny you should respond. EARS thanks for you past help as well. answering question is tough and requires time and pacients. People with good information are tough to find when you need them. I just had to post and laugh at this fairy tale fantasy of a review. Moving foward. With the pacient help of one of the forums regulars, .......BOA12......, via emails/phone We have reconfigured, moved speakers and made adjustments within the receiver and the subwoofer, along with the addition of the new Klipsch RSW-15 subwoofer. The system is perfected, (for now). It was most stressful and time comsuming getting to this point. Being picky, uninformed, in a hurry and wanting instant gradification isn't a winning combo, when creating a music system. After all the hours spent listening to & tweaking speakers, at all volumes levels, using a variety of music/movies, my ears probably couldn't discern bass from the door slamming. I could right a small book about all I have learned during these past months. THANKS BOA! Everything is sounding good, until the next upgrade.IMG]http://216.37.9.58/ubb/cwmsmilies/cwm12.gif Yamaha RX-V3000 Klipsch RF-7s RS-7s RC-7 Klipsch RSW-15 Velodyne 1012 sub Panasonic HDTV 51" [
  9. I like alot of bass. So I went to Kreuzler-Karbarenger, in England, and asked them to give me the MOST POWERFUL AMP, and 4 15"'s in a powered sub., so they hand made a cabinet that is 4 feet high, 6 feet wide, and 7 feet deep, and weighs in at about 280 pounds. Each 15" has a 600 oz. magnet, and the back of the box has 12 1" ports, while the front sports a 6 ft. wide bottom slot port. GOOD GOD. My balls were about to rattle off. I DIDNT HAVE THAT MUCH CASH UP FRONT. So, I went to SEVERAL loan companies in the U.S. and got MANY loans taken out. And will be paying for the next 40 years, but, hey, the profit i make, it's like chump change. It has a hand stained walnut finish on the cabinet, and, im not real sure whats on the inside, im not going to take it apart to find out, no way, toooooooo expensive to mess with like that. I have casters on the bottom, and i have a dolly for it, i also have a hardshell cover (handmade) for it, w/ the company's name on it. I put the volume knob only 3 notches up, (max is 20 notches), i've had people a quarter of a mile away calling the police. It actually makes the gravel and dirt "bounce". Since the company is private, i cannot give out the phone #, etc., plus, DEFENTALLY NOT an average sub, it would literally make your house frame shatter and probally caused injury buy collapsing. oh yea, this thing draws too much damn power too. 50,000 watt amp, hand made cabinet. Nice port job, alot of ports is good w/ that much power, especially 50k watts. just barely turning the volume up, cant let it rip, too LOUD! Audioreview
  10. Thanks for taking time to respond, and sending support. Nothing like being feelig stuck with an (exspensive)new toy you can't get to function up to full expectations. The RSW 15" should arrive towards the end of the week, or begining of next week. Then the bass problem will be solved. I Still think I shouldn't have to invest additionsl finances on top the exspense of speakers, to hear some good hitting bass. As the situation is, the addition of a new Klipsch RSW 15", will surely put a simle on my face. Thus eliminating future exspressions of grief, allowing movement forward in positive upbeat mannor, combined with a mature happy attitude. Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!! as I was saying mature happy attitude.
  11. It is no secret I am a constant complainer about the RF-7s lack of hard hitting bass. So I called Klipsch I was told by (Trey) to move the RF-7s right up in to the cornners at a 45 and that the bass would sound four times better. (I wish) Then go to the back of the room and listen, that I'd hear the bass more accuratly in the back. Bass waves need so many feet and can be heard in the back of the room better. I guess the highs die out first. Some others here can beter explain. Also it was thought the Yamaha May not be able to push the RF-7s with enough juice to produce solid bass. Sorry guys I am trying my best to get the sound worked out. there nothing I'd like better to do than to report back here to the forum with a solution. I have ordered a RSW 15 and there is no doubt this will fill in the bass and then some. My complaint is the RF-7s should stand alone and not need a sub, with the except of Movies. Yes SVS was first choice for a subwoofer, but the price was right on the RSW and is looks good and will match the other Klipsch speakers. In fairness to Klipsch & the RF-7s. End by saying the RF-7s are exstreamly clear, crystal clear and a joy to listen to, even with what MY EARS percive to be not enough bass. Even my friends think the same. Guess they need their hearing check too?
  12. It is no secret I think my new RF-7s should produce harder hitting bass. Not necessarily lower but more thump, or I have heard the word slam. A have been informed by other speaker companies NHT, B&W.., and sales people that the higher the sensitvity (db's) the louder the speaker will play with less power. Yes we all agree. But, the trade off for high db's or sensitivity is the speaker is a less rich, lacking in bass and produces more distortion at higher volumes. This does seem to be accurate for me. I am starting to doubt the capabilities of the Yamaha RX-V3000. I would like to think the RF-7s could stand along without a subwoofer. How ever, I have ordered the Klipsch RSW 15". I realy wanted to go with the SVS, but in this case the price was right. There is no arguing the RF-7s clarity is clean, crystal clear. But at upper volume levels they begin to sound distorted, to my ears. Maybe these big boys require a sub? Or need more power (which doesn't seem likely, based on 102 db). May be the Yamaha 3000 jusy doesn't have enough motro? Maybe I need my hearing examed.

  14. Currently running a Yamaha RX-V3000. I have already and recently, received in detail, input from this forum, relating to what I perceive as a lack of Bass, from my new RF-7s. & The verdict is clear, I need to add (replace) at least one SVS or equal sub. No question. The RF-7s are a fine speaker. It just happens that I enjoy hearing extra bass and was a tad bit dis-a-pointed with the RF-7s bass. I expected a harder thum and bump. My expectations were (Based on the looks) of those two 10" woofers and price.) Lately I have been researching Klipsch & others speakers in the (2,000.00 price range)to use for 2 ch music. Speakers that may focus or speciallize more in the low v/s the highs, with out loosing the claridy, if possible. Since it is difficult to listen to every speaker I post here asking for opinions. I enjoying all types of music, so when I have the extra cash to splurge(and even when I don't) I am going to invest in 3 or 4 different sets of speakers solely for the purpose of playing 2 channel music. Allowing me enjoying 3 or 4 different styles and sounds of music. A hobby. And Just for the record: I am perfectly satisfied with the RF-7, RS-7 and RC-7 for Home Theater. 250% Couldn't be happier, no complaints. Music on the other hand I'm looking for variety, why only drink Coke when there is Pepsi, Beer.....Ha Sometimes my post may not make sense, seem or be repetitive, but I mean well and I come here in Peace seeking Knowledge. Ha! So Thanks to you all for the information Yamaha RX-V3000 Klipsch RF-7s, RS-7s RC-7 Velodyne 1012 VLF sub Altec A-7s Panasonic 51" HDTV Sony DVD
  15. The size of a speakers woofer 10",12" or 15", is no sure indication of how great the bass will sound. Size does not matter? Just like the watts on a receiver, weather it is 100 watts per ch or 80 watts per ch. .....means very little.
