  1. Pretty sure you can use the zone-2 preouts as an input to a DSP. Then feed the "processed signal" into another amp. Even a cheap Chinese class D amp will do
  2. No problem ... $200 for a good used preamp, $200 for a miniDSP HD and $100-200 for another amp
  3. Yes; if the crossover "was" at say 500Hz, it will be at 250Hz with an 8 ohm driver (Not 100% sure ... just from memory.)
  4. Pls advise what amp you are using. Know you do NOT want to go active, but it seems the easiest solution ... and it might even be cheaper buying a pre-amp and a DSP vs buying many different passive crossovers (and maybe different drivers) and never getting it "right."
  5. Haha; guess NOT Looks like I'm to blame for this one as I mentioned horns from this "other brand." Oops ... and "NON Klipsch" crossovers
  6. Thought it was a good discussion and helpful to the OP Oh well; the Klipsch Gestapo killed it (again). Really getting very tired of this "new approach."
  7. That's what I have always used. Others may disagree
  8. Since you will be using these with passive crossovers, you may want to specify 8 or 16 Ohms
  9. I have (tried) to mate K-510's to Forte's (w/DSP). Never got it right; the horns just blew the Forte's away, making them sound like cheap bookshelf speakers A previous post mentioned good success with a Chorus. Never owned any LaScala's, so I cannot predict how well the K-510's would "mate" with them - but pretty sure it is a much better pairing than with Forte's BTW, had the 510's down to 500-550Hz, which I believe is about the minimum they'll take. Also had K-510's on my KPT-904's crossed at the passive 904 xover of 850Hz. Sounded excellent, but wanted a "bigger" horn - just like you. Since I did NOT have room for 402's, I bought some JBL 2384 horns, with JBL 2451H drivers. Horn may be too big for LS's as it is 30" wide. Chopped mine down to about 25-1/2" making them fit (with a box) perfectly on the 27" wide KPT's. Don't think you can cut those JBL's further down (to match LS's) as one gets "into" the curvature. But ... the improvement over the 510's was drastic Good luck
  10. Nah ... she just always "forgets" how to work the AVR
  11. Yeah, AWESOME, and thanks for the link ... will try "next week" when the wife is out of town
  12. Haha; unknown. Provider is Spectrum and on Google it says HD content (on movies) WITH surround sound. But never found any 5.1 sound yet, even with their "on demand movies" - still searching Or it could be my cable box as I have an older (Cisco 8742HDC) box - bought it since it has PIP and using a cable card with it. To recap; cable box is connected to TV via HDMI and TV to AVR via optical - pretty sure it only gives me 2.0. So; used a splitter to feed HDMI to AVR assuming THAT would give me 5.1 - and sofar only 2.0. Yes; I know it is (?) a "redundant" setup. Just did that so my wife can just turn on the cable + TV, without having to bother with "setting" the AVR. Haha; she is a doctor; NOT a technician Thanks for the help
  13. Hardly ever use the AVR with the TV (and the wife gets confused by all the AVR inputs) ... that's why I connected it directly to the cable box (with TV optical to AVR in case I wanted "better" sound. Worked fine but never thought I was getting 5.1 surround from the TV. Therefore; to get 5.1 sound I used a splitter to also connect the cable box via hdmi to the AVR. Works great, but can "only find" PCM 2.0.
  14. OK; got a StarTech ST122HD4KU splitter. One HDMI cable direct to TV, and one to my AVR (Onkyo TX-RZ810). But AVR still says "input PCM 2.0 48kHz, output Direct 2.0." When I try to change listening modes the AVR responds with "not available." Any suggestions? Thanks, Emile
  15. Marginal improvement due to bigger/better horns. Probably NOT worth it because you will be quadrupling the cost as Heritage speakers have exploded in price Have owned KG4's, KG3.2's, KG4.5's ... really nice speakers. Yes; "upgraded" to Heresy's, Forte's, etc. and even as it was an improvement I was not "overwhelmed." The only REAL improvement I got was when I switched to K-510/402 style horns. But ... you will need bass bins since these horns will make Heresy's/Forte's/etc. sound like cheap bookshelf speakers. Cheers, Emile ADD-ON ... Even though I don't think they are "Heritage" speakers, suggest you include CF3/4's into you search. Much better than Forte's (OK; have NOT heard the "IV.")
  16. Thanks ... first one I have seen with all connectors in the back Add-on ... Oops; NO audio on channel 2
  17. Completely puzzled; hoping you "experts" can shed some light on my problem OK; have my cable box connected to TV via "input 1," and my AVR via HDMI to TV "input 2." (Did this as we watch TV 95% of the time without using the AVR, plus the wife gets "confused" by the AVR ) Also, TV optical is attached to AVR, in case we want "better" sound. Was playing around and found an optical out on my cable box. So; took "off" the TV toslink and connected it to the cable box. Works fine, BUT - very strangely - TV and box remotes NO LONGER WORK; cannot change inputs and even power off does NOT work NO CLUE And ... assume this optical only gives me PCM 2.0 and NOT 5.1 surround. Therefore, second question is can I use a HDMI splitter and feed both my TV and AVR with this - giving me full 5.1 sound. Or would I have the same (communication/handshake ?) problems? Yes, can try it, but would like advise first as any "cabling" changes are a nightmare. Any splitters you guys/gals recommend? Thanks and Cheers, Emile
  18. Almost bought a pair of RP-500m's Instead, bought a "single" center - a RB-500C. At least it has 5-1/4" woofers, fits in the space and seems to have the highest SPL from this size range (96dB's vs 93-94 from bookshelf speakers; think that means about 25% more output). We'll see And thanks to everyone for their input Cheers, Emile
  19. OK; trying a RP-500C ... at least it has 5 1/4" woofers, fits in the space and it seems to have the highest SPL for this size (96dB's vs 93dB from the bookshelf speakers - think that means about 25% more output). Haha; we'll see.
  20. It takes less than 10 minutes to add a new product as it is based on a very simple template. And ... a 10-year old can do it
  21. Carl, Thanks .. but just bought a RP-500C ... we'll see if it is adequate Cheers, Emile
  22. Have worked on the (commercial) internet since it's inception - yes; thank you, I am an expert. The Klipsch website is boring, sterile and non-imaginative. It is based on a template of "picture/filler/links" and can be managed by a 10-year old. For an "innovative" company, this website is a complete failure.
  23. Could not resist this Have been trying to buy a new center and it is pretty hard to find specs on the Klipsch website It is very annoying having to go through page and page and page of how wonderful these Klipsch items are (yes; "bigger horns, Linear Travel tweeter, Vented tweeter, CeraMetallic woofers, Tractrix, New Look, etc. etc.") After scrolling down all these pages, you can finally find a pdf on the actual specs (if you are lucky) It does NOT matter what you are looking for; you get bombarded with marketing BS. So; to find specs on Klipsch speakers I go to crutchfield.com . Constructive criticism: just think Klipsch should tone done this stuff, or at least give a link to the specs "at the top." Cheers, Emile
  24. Haha; would like to hear "dialogue" when I crank up my KPT-904's The RCX-4 ONLY has 2 miniscule 4" woofers; even less than the "404."
