Greetings all. Been reading a number of posts from HIII owners pairing them with subs. I haven't felt an urgent need so far for adding a sub but am curious on what I may be missing out. So I ask, what subs have fellow HIII owners found to be a good match? My application is primarily 2 channel stereo for music....

I'll chime in as I have owned both and am now on the Heresy's. I loved the Forte's, I thought perhaps once of the best speakers I have owned (and that's many). I needed at the time to free up some $$ so I sold them and got a deal on the Heresy's. Personally, I don't feel the need for a sub(s) with them though I know many do. In my studio type apartment they sound great with solid if not subterranean bass.I always found blending a sub correctly to be difficult at best. Someday, when finances allow, I will have the Forte's again. Just my 2 cents, both are awesome in their own respect.....

Hi, well you'd have to choose one of their taller, slimmer floor standers or go to the bookshelf line. You'll lose bass response of course with the bookshelf speaker and need decent stands which adds to the cost. As an audio friend once told me, "you can't get big speaker sound from a small speaker" which is basically true. That's a long lasting relationship with the Kg4's I had a pair and enjoyed them. I'm on the new Heresy III's and I am very, very impressed. The rap on them is lack of bass. I don't hear that, what is there is tight and impactful and I'll take that, especially for music...

Asking $900.00 plus $40.00 shipping.New was $2500.00 No exposure to smoke, pets or prying little fingers. This is truly a full-featured, dual mono amplifier. Very powerful, rated at 250 w/ch in 8 ohms and 400 w/ch into 4 ohms! Peak to peak current of 75 amps! powered my Magnepan MMGi's very nicely and later my Heresy III. Includes a nice phono section, HT bypass, Tape Monitor loop, SACD, CD and tuner rca inputs. You have to look very hard to see any flaws at all, truly a nice piece. Some reviews called the sound "liquid, almost tube-like." It can drive most any speaker out there. Includes the manual, remote and packaging. No disappointments with this amp. Shipping to the 48 states only please at a flat rate of $40.00. This is a hefty, well-built amp. I will consider reasonable offers....

Well, I tried the milk crate experiment, that lasted about 1 song. I felt the music sounded "thinner" for lack of a better word. Certainly I lost something in the bass dept. Put them back on the floor as designed and the music filled out and had more body and weight. Just my experience....

I have 2 milk crates, might just experiment a bit this weekend before getting to carried away. I honestly don't feel the need for a sub at this point, I am more than impressed with the quality of the bass from the H3's.

Hello all. I've read several reports of listeners (and reviewers) putting Heresy's on stands to get the tweeter closer to ear level. Anybody here have experience and or tried this approach? Thanks!

So far so good. I too over the years have bounced back and forth from Maggies to Klipsch and understand the attraction of both styles. Right now I'm digging the impact theHeresy III's are offering and that they don't need mega-current to sound dynamic.....

Well, took the plunge and have Heresy III's arriving today. I'll have an apples and oranges shoot-off with my current Magnepan MMGi's. Two ends of the spectrum, ha ha. As much and the MMG's do right, for my typical listening (electric blues, classic rock) they are a tad too "laid back"? They don't quite have the visceral impact to make that type of music exciting. I'll report back in a couple of days....

Thanks for the above. In my limited available space optimal placement isn't possible. Even with my current Magnepan MMGi's it's a bit of a compromise. They need to be further out in the listening room where the Klipsch is a bit of the opposite. I love the sound of the MMGi's but as I primarily listen to electric blues and classic rock, they don't quite have that "bite" if you will. Sense my interest in the Heresy III's....

I was interested in a pair of the Heresy III's but had a question on room placement. My listening area does not allow for rear wall placement so the speakers would be maybe 3' into the room. Will this hurt or adversely effect the sound? It's fine for my Magnepan MMG's of course who need that space but not certain on the Heresy's before I drop the $$. Thanks!

Greetings. I am offering my excellent Forte III's for sale in the cherry finish. A pending move(divorce) makes them available as I want to travel light. They are in superb condition with one caveat. The right speaker has 2 minor "dings" in the veneer. I purchased these with that knowledge, you have to look pretty closely to notice (see picks). One on the top right corner and the other on the rear edge. I purchased these new, open box. I hate to sell but that's life. My favorite Klipsch of the 5 different models I have owned over the last 25 years. They are heavy, I can have them wrapped and palletized where I work for a truck pick up. I can also drive a reasonable distance in central NY (Utica, Rome, Syracuse) and meet a buyer. I owned that Yamaha and really liked it so I bought the A-S1100 to drive my Forte III's. A great pairing but a financial issue forced a sale of the Yammy. My "back up" Marantz PM 8005 took it's place and is doing a yeoman's job. When the smoke clears after the holiday's another yamaha is on the horizon...

Greetings! Offering my mint condition (less than 6 months old) Rogue Sphinx v.2 Integrated amp in black. This has been used lightly to drive my Forte III's with very nice results. I purchased this from the original owner who upgraded the tubes to French Military spec. tubes ($200.00). The results I would say are wonderful, original tubes to be included. It has a nice phono section for those still spinning vinyl as well. This does not have the optional remote (controls volume only). Made in the USA! I have the original boxes and packing for a safe trip. Please google the laudatory reviews on the 'net, it's a pound for pound champion for sure. Asking $1100.00 or reasonable offer plus shipping to the 48 states only. Hate to part with it but I have to say good-bye to some of my equipment...

NICE! I have the Forte III's in cherry as well, about 6 weeks old. Really enjoying them after stint with Magnepans (apples and oranges). Driving them with a Rogue Sphinx integrated with very fine results. I do have a Marantz PM 8005 on the way as an experiment (I have the matching CD/SACD player) to see what kind of synergy I get. Enjoy!

I’m flexible on budget, let’s say 2k and under and used is just fine. I do like the newer Yamaha amps. Not sure how they mate with the kilos he. Driving them now with a Cambridge 740a integrated. Not bad but I feel a little lean in the bass dept.
