  1. Thank you both. If the sale is still active tomorrow, I'll go for it
  2. The reason I don't have rear speakers is simply because I don't have the space as long as I live in this house. So if it doesen't matter I will get the new atmos enabled speakers without having rear speakers in my sound setup
  3. MY AVR is a Marantz SR-7011 if I remember correctly. I'm sure it can support it. I have my fronts, my center, my side surrounds and my two subs So I would skip the rear surrounds and go straight for Atmos. Not really sure if it can screw out my sound "image"
  4. Hey guys. Right now there is a sale on the floorstanding speakers "Klipsch RP-280FA". I have a 5.2 sound system and my question is will it be ok to change my front speakers with these to get the atmos experience? I don't know that much about different setups, but I found that the norm was: 5.2 (side surrounds) 7.2 (rear surrounds) upgrading further is Atmos. I do not have rare surrounds, will that be a problem or will I be just fine? In my current living room I (or the wife) do not want to add any more speakers on the wall or ceiling for that matter. I found the work around to be these speakers. They are also a upgrade to my existing front speakers.
  5. Thank you. Yes I can see that turning the low-pass on the sub to 40Hz will be wrong. The LFE setting on the knob is in the 160Hz range and I guess it is a function to let the AVR do the crossover job
  6. Hello guys. Today I got my second SW and before I hook them up I got a few config questions (newb). There is so much information out there, making it a bit hard to know what is right. When I run audyssey xt32, I intend to get my levels on sw1 and 2 somewhere around -6 down to -11.5 dB I then leave my gain knobs at that point and don't touch them again. When I want to turn my bass up or down, do I do it through the AVR on *Options -> Channel Level Adjust (+/- dB) or *Setup -> Audio -> Subwoofer Level Adjust. There is an on/off function and +/- dB (this feels like something else) Lastly, I have my crossover set at 80Hz on my AVR and on the knob of the SW. I read that I need change the setting on my SW so that the settings don't fight each other. Is this correct? If so I guess I have to change he Hz knob of my SW to 40Hz (ccw) or to the LFE setting (cw)? Thanks gor amy help
  7. I understand. I Guess I could return the 160M and her the 250s instead... That might just be what I have to do... Should I keep the 160M, mount them on the wall and tilt them towards the sweet spot. Do I risk getting som wierd effects? I tried to educate myself and read something about the ambient sounds. They should move around the room and not be focused like they would with the 160M
  8. Looking things over (in hindsight) I can't help thinking that the Klipsch RP-160M are more suited as rear surround speakers and that I should have gone with something like Klipsch RP-250S as side surround speakers. Did I mess things up beyond repair ?
  9. Hey guys. This is my current build: *Marantz SR-7011 *Klipsch RF-82 ll *Klipsch R-115SW *Klipsch RC-64 ll Just now I received my RP-160M speakers so I can upgrade my system to 5.1. I bought some wall mounts so I can have a bit of freedom when it comes to positioning the speakers. I am quite new when it comes to everything around speaker setup, but my plan was to place the speakers as my left and right side surround speakers. The wall mounts allow for a +/- 7 degree tilt and 360 degree horizontal turning. Am I correct to assume that the tweeters should point to my ears in the sweet spot? Because of my living room I have to place the wall mounts on the wall directly behind the couch, and maybe use the tilt to get a bit of breathing space for anyone in the couch (below). I'll add a picture from the TV point of view. I know the speakers need some space behind them, but the fact is that both will get space, but one will have a corner behind it and one will have an open room behind it. Will I be ok here? Any help is greatly appreciated Regards Daniel
  10. Hey guys. I just got myself a new AVR and added a center speaker to my existing setup: *Marantz SR-7011 *Klipsch RF-82 ll *Klipsch R-115SW *Klipsch RC-64 ll My problem is that I have no idea how to setup my AVR. I ran the audyssey and changed a few settings right of the bat. Front speakers: small crossover SW: 80 Hz My knowledge stops there and here goes the questions. All help is appresiated. *What Hz should I set for my front and center speakers? *Crossover for sw is 80hz but I can set LFE or LFE+Main. What is the correct one? *The AVR has altot of settings for the center speaker. Any important settings? *With the center speaker I have to learn all the modes the AVR offers. Should I change modes based on if I watch movies or listen to music? It's alot I know. Thanks for the help
  11. Thanks guys. I'll try it at a later time. My samsung tv has some handshake problems last time I tried. I'll try it with the Marantz tho.
  12. Thanks everyone. I ended up buying the Marantz SR-7011 as I pinned a few stores and got it cheaper than the 6012. It should arrive in a few hours or so. Now I have to figure out if I should connect all my gear (playstation and so on) directly to the tv and the tv to the AVR thtough ARC or everything to the AVR and connect it to the tv (ARC).
  13. I read up on the Audyssey XT32 and I was impressed. I wants it. I needs it. I brushed up on your link and quickly added it to my bookmarks. Thanks. Startet talking with different dealers and I'll get a deal on the SR7011 if I buy at their store, so I'll see what happends. The wife is not going to be happy. Thanks though
  14. After reading a bit about the SR6012 I am thinking about buying that one and using the exstra channels for bi-amplifying should I end up needing extra power as well as future upgrades.
  15. Thanks for the replys, and yes, Marantz. I like to play my movies as loud as I dare. This is my first sound system so I am a bit on the carefull side... This might be because I have som problems with my Pioneer AVR and have to send it inn for repairs. My room is shaped like a rectangular (32.68 m2) with the length being 8.6 M (28 ft) and width beeing 3.8 M (12 ft). My sound setup is on the close wall and the distance from the speaker to the user is 3.3 M (10 ft). I am placed at the far end of the room. My friends knowledge on this seems iffy, but yes I have my front speakers set as small with a crossover for the sub set as 80hz. It seems to fit what most people recommend. I got a bit blank on this part though <Do not set the the AVR for LFE + Main>. I am willing to nudge up a bit for the Marantz SR6012. I only have a small setup now, but I might upgrade the amount of speakers at a later time. Though my first impression is if I go with the SR6012 I end up with quite a few channels I would never end up using. I guess i need to have a look and see if it has some ekstra funktions I would need or want. However in terms of power, it seems the SR5012 is enough for 2 front, a sub and center?
