  1. Yea, for sure I'll probably drop a line at least, if not a full blown review! I've tried tweaking the EQ but still don't have it exactly where I want it and I'm getting lazy... -Gxcadc>
  2. I just get the highest bitrate I can find on napster. I go for 320 but if there are none I will settle for anything greater or equal to 128 (higher first)-Gxcad c>
  3. I can't read 1337, can someone enlighten me? -Gxcad c>
  4. As I await the arrival of my new 4.1's, I just realized I might of noticed this claim of lack of midrange coming from the v2 400's. You see, the only higher end multimedia speakers I have ever heard in a proper system (not on display at bestbuy) are my own set (v2 400) and bostons BA4800's. I listened to my pros for about 4 months at the time my friend first got his brand new BA4800's. I went over to his house one day specifically to have a listen to his new speakers. I was impressed with the clarity of those speakers at reasonable volumes, but something else I noticed that I didn't notice on my pros was that his speakers were blending with the sub very well when playing music (although in sub's pure output was no match to my pros) I confirmed this was something my set did not do quite as well as his after I got home. Was this the "lack of midrange" I was experienceing? More importantly, will I hear the better blending of midrange and sub with the new crossovers? I use my pros primarily for music so this would be a very exciteing discovery to me . Thank you for reading my short story On another note, did you guys know that previously on this forum the commonly shared solution to this problem was taking off the grills? Sure didn't work for me, that is, if the "lack of midrange" is actually the blending with the sub. Maybe people believed it so strongly that it actually made their speakers sound better to them -Gxcad c>
  5. What are we gonna do about the forums now that the v2 400 (this forum) is discontinued? You think we'll just change the name to 4.1 General Questions and move on?-Gxcad c>
  6. I was the guy planning on selling off individual satelites because I was planning on replaceing them with quintets. Decided I would avoid the potential conflicts (with all this talk about the 8kOhms getting less power per sat) so I went off and ordered the 4.1's. Now I'm selling off my entire v2 400 as the set so I won't be selling individual sats sorry. -Gxcad c>
  7. Are you sure its a traffic light, and not a stop sign? Also, make sure your computer is on. If that fails, try reading the directions.Hope that helps, -Gxcad c>
  8. Yes, it is aurizontal for the .22dpi, and .14 ertical-Gxcad c>
  9. I think all hitachi monitors have .22dpi. I happen to own a CM769 by hitachi which has the .22dpi and max res of 1600x1200 @85hz. It also has a slightly short neck, excellent quality, and no damper wires (which don't bug me anyway but...hey). Its not totally flat but its pretty close and it was cheap too.-Gxcad c>
  10. Are the quintet sats magnetically sheilded and suitable for placement near a monitor? Also, is there a difference in the SUB between the v2 400 and the 4.1's? Thanks-Gxcad c>
  11. Hofy cleared this up for us in the duct tape thread, he states that geocities is cutting off direct links, and thus his pictures are getting cut off too.-Gxcad c>
  12. D'oh!That is so weird, the address is correct and it works when I copy the link from paragons post and paste into browser but it doesn't work if I right click my link and copy shortcut and paste into browser. I swear its the exact same link! Anyone know whats wrong? I'm stumped! -Gxcad lol, now that you've changed it to a link it doesn't work again Ok, the people that really want to see that gif are gonna have to right click my link, go to properties, and manually type in what you see into the browser window. Webmaster need tell us bases what is wrong? c>
  13. All your base are belong to us For those of you that don't understand I hope this clears up any confusion. -Gxcad Edit: the image won't load so changed it to a link c>
  14. I thought it had 600W also, which explains why a quintet setup is theoretically possible (quintets 100wRMSx4 + 160W sub = 560W) If the quintets setup really works I might opt for it but I like everyone else has no definate results to rely on although I remember a long time ago someone claimed they tried it and it wasn't all that fantastic... On another note, is there any difference in the sub between the 4.1's and the v2 400?thanks, -Gxcad c>
  15. quote: DD.. Dolby Digital decoding. then wouldn't it be DDD? -Gxcad c>
  16. thanks for the followup. Now I realize that you realized that you answered the post weirdly. I also realized what you originally intended to say in your original reply.-Gxcad c>
  17. Chill Paragon, the launguage is still clean. Just let people speak their minds. I think thrashing is ok if it is done appropriately-Gxcad c>
  18. I think your forgetting something, does picture quality mean anything to you? The two lines on the screen don't bug me, as they are literally the thickness of a thin strand of hair. However I do agree sonys cost a bundle and (have less warranty?). Hitachi make good monitors too. I have a CM769 and the sharpness is really up there with the big boys. I'd really love to have a Sony GDM F400 thou, the quality on that monitor seems to be amazing.-Gxcad c>
  19. Its' probably the onboard sound.-Gxcad c>
  20. I wonder if people would buy sats off me?? I was thinking of selling them on ebay sometime in the future... whaddaya think? How much would I get per sat?-Gxcad c>
  21. Total BS, nobody knows I wonder how many hits this post will get...lol maybe I'm just bored on the board -Gxcad c>
  22. lol nice feature I think I'll stick with 2000 thank you very much, even if I only had 98 I wouldn't switch to me, the stories are horrifying-Gxcad c>

    Cooling!

Ok, after some research, I have discovered that adding 10 dBA is like doubleing noise. Using this equation, I tested for most efficiency for fans in both size and noise. It seems you will have least noise and most CFM if you use bigger fans...In efficiency, bigger always beats smaller, and more beats less - this means to have 2 fans at 35dBA (+10) = 45dBA will usually have far more CFM than if you used one fan of the same size that created 45dBA by itself. confuseing? In conclusion, to have the most efficient cooling for the noise you have to have, first pick a company with an efficient design, then choose the biggest fans with the least noise. This will give you maximum CFM vs dBA -Gxcad c>f>
