  1. $3,900 winning bid. That's more than I would have bid, but less than I expected it to reach. As intriguing as it was, I couldn't afford to buy the truck, spend at least an additional $3,000 for batteries that might work well enough to confirm that it needs a new flux capacitor. For QH's sake, I was expecting (hoping) it would go for at least $5,000. Unfortunately, there was no last minute surge of sniped bids. It amazes me that intelligent people still bid on eBay any way other than sniped last second bids. Early bids only drive up the price and help the seller. In this case, a last second flurry of sniped bids would have helped QH. I hope our forum brother is pleased with the result. I know he's reluctantly passing the project to another custodian.
  2. The attached pdf (scroll down) was sent to me via email. Enjoy the weekend. I'm grateful to those who made it possible.
  3. look like it to me. The squawker looks plastic. Doesn't Look like Klipsch or Speakerlab squawkers I've seen.

    NHL Playoffs

I'm also surprised Picky hasn't posted about the overachieving Red Wings. I love cheering for the Wings and I enjoy college and Olympic hockey, but NHL will remain a 2nd class major league sport as long as it encourages fighting. The "fights" cheapen it nearly to the level of WWE. Throw a single punch in a real major league sport and fines and suspensions follow.
  5. I'm surprised GM doesn't buy these up, given its controlling attitude regarding the EV 1 car.
  6. Mike, At first I thought you were referring to me. Then I recalled there's also a Disney place.[] I had a lengthy and pleasant discussion with QH, and seriously considered bidding on the interesting truck. Something about from Disney to Disney that seemed like good Karma. But after being talked off the ledge by my brother, I'll defer to someone who has the time, technical expertise and discretionary financial resources to breathe new life into this piece of history. I can't do it justice. Best wishes to QH on the sale. Neil Disney
  7. That Spyder is very cool. The price seems reasonable, given the content. What's the performance like? That's no Mustang.
  8. QH, Is the truck in Milwaukee/Waukeshau? EDIT: 05/20/13 @ 12:58 EDT PM sent
  9. +1 [y] No harm, but unnecessary. I've wasted time and money on damping horns that don't need to be damped, so go ahead and try it. It's a hobby, not a religion.
  10. bracurrie and Quiet Hollow said, "See also this enlightening, yet entertaining video: http://xiph.org/video/vid1.shtml If you thought the first one was entertaining try the second. http://xiph.org/video/vid2.shtml" Yikes! That "Monty" Montgomery guy is very scary, what with all that math, science, engineering background, test equipment and data. Next he'll be trying to debunk my strongly held beliefs that Earth is flat and the center of the Uiniverse. It's just too frightening.
  11. To whom? http://memphis.craigslist.org/ele/3815464328.html Smells like one of those spiteful divorce scenarios.
  12. I used the following classic thread started by Groomslakeare51 to make new grilles for a pair of Heresy. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/110684.aspx?PageIndex=1 The results were worth the effort.
  13. It's interesting that Range Rover is a tour sponsor and Mark's vehicle of choice during the tour. In the John Illsley video about Mark Knopfler, the only "vehicles of choice" discernible in the video are Mercedes.
  14. ~$1,200 estimate The real value is the sum that someone will pay that you will accept.
  15. The answer is stll, and always, YES.
  16. Congratulations! Please remind Dick to edit the subject lines of his two posts to reflect SOLD.
  17. Congratulations! Please post more details and photos.
  18. Bump this great thread started by JB. The video is no longer at the prior link. It can now be found at:
  19. Art's room is amazing. The space is too often igored or underated in the quest for excellent reproduced sound. Admittedly far from ideal, but ,in the 70s, I used four 8 ohm Speakerlab SKhorns (factory built, plywood, aluminum 350 & T35), with enclosed backs, wired in parallel for 4 ohm load on a Dynaco ST400, thus 300 watts/channel, in a DJ biz. In large spaces I'd have the channels diagonally, therefore going clockwise from corner to corner, left, right, left & right. You could walk around in the center and get an interesting experience. Repeatedly people would say it was the best sound system they'd ever heard. As my late father used to say, that's damning with faint praise. As you can imagine, the acoustics were usually dreadful, from the high ceilings of a gym to the low ceilings of a cafeteria. But fill the space with people and 600 watts of horn loaded sound, and a good time was had by all. The T35 tweeters and my hearing took a beating. A call to EV would quickly produce replacement diaphragms, EV wasn't able to help with my high frequency hearing loss.
  20. I agree with the numbers issue. Also many LS were used in bars, by bands, etc. and are less expensive than used LS2s, due to age and condition. By contrast, most LS2s are sold for residential use.
  21. Interesting installation. I'd like to see a photo with the grills in place and a long shot of the whole wall.
  22. If you post photos, you'll increase the probability of getting "serious inquiries." Best wishes for the sale.
  23. 212 is still between me and less than 200, but not far. Joe B. will be there today. If no one's home, I'll put it inside the door. Enjoy.
  24. Dick seems a bit overwhelmed but is sincerely trying to do the right thing by the forum. See: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/173954.aspx If you want them, send him the money. If you want to reserve the right to think about it, send him some money. Otherwise, take your chances, but be considerate. Dick is a seller, not the referee at a family picnic. Unless you've contacted Dick to ask how to deliver the $$, you haven't paid for a thing, including time to ask questions, time to think about it or the right to demand a reply to a counter offer. If someone else beats you to the punch, don't complain. Be patient.
