  1. I like my front loading machines. The Kenmore HT3 set bought at the Sears scratch and dent store lasted a little more than 10 years and the failure was caused by a coin which made it to a circuit board. We now have Samsungsteaming models and they work very well. Front loading washers do have an issue with water, mold and smell due to moisture trapped in the door seal but by following the directions you prevent the problem by leaving door open so it can dry. We wipe the seal down one a month with bleach.

I find the front loaders to be quiter and more efficient.

    +1 [Y]

Our Kenmore front loader is quiet and efficient. It uses less water and spins the clothes nearly dry to cut down on dryer time. We save on detergent, water, electricity & natural gas.

We do leave the door open when not in use to avoid MUSTY smell.

  2. "This forum is to blame. It's very outdated. Sorry about the hassle... Safari is the same."

Thanks Amy. The less than p greater than p solution isn't the worst, just inconvenient.

FYI to everyone. A computer expert, whose opinion I respect, STRONGLY discourages the use of IE for banking, credit card purchases, etc. He feels security issues with IE make it too risky. He suggested Chrome or Firefox.

  3. Why can't I create new paragraphs?

I hit "enter" after the ? and it looked like a new paragraph was created, but after I hit "post," everything gets jammed into one line.

"Enter" was hit twice prior to the start of this sentence. I've recently switched from IE to Chrome; could that be a factor?

  4. Are you getting that reading across the woofer terminals alone or the input terminals to whole speaker? In either case, it's no indication of a problem with the speakers. Do the speakers still work? Have you connected them to another source?

The problems with your amp and pre-amp probably lie elsewhere. Good luck.

It's "once a year," but when you live here it's all summer. Yesterday afternoon it took me three times as long as usual to get from Birmingham to Berkley because I was foolish to use Woodward. The cars, lawn chairs and gawkers were out in force. It was heavier than the first few official Cruises.

Every nice weekend all summer is a mini Cruise. The muscle cars were lined up to pay >$8/gal. for 100+ octane racing gas at the Citgo last weekend.

I like cars, but you can only enjoy so many Vettes, Cobra (replicas), GTOs (Ferrari or Pontiac) and, yes, even 442s. You can't throw a dead cat without hitting a 57 Chevy, W-30, Hemi 'Cuda, or the like. It's getting so the rat rods and odd ball cars are more interesting than the pristine classics.

Many businesses along Woodward (including the closest branch of my bank) will be closed on Saturday 8/18 rather than fight the Cruise traffic. Now their parking lots are taken over every evening by cruisers and Cruise watchers.

  6. Years ago we rented a car from Hertz with "Never-Lost" by Magellan. We then bought 2 Magellan Roadmates. When I replace those, I'll get Garmin. Don't forget, Magellan died on the way home.

  7. Tha Paterno family should please just keep quiet.

The public got a glimpse of Paterno's true character when the University tried to appropriately ease him out a decade ago. He let his "bosses" know that they couldn't fire him.

The charade of Paterno being the "head coach" the last few years should have been embarrassing to PSU, Paterno and the Paterno family. Joe might have been the CEO of the program but he wasn't actually coaching as he strolled the sidelines without as much as a headset. At least twice he was injured because he couldn't get out of the way of his own players.

Now we know how inappropriately concerned Paterno was about the victory record. His coaching was the football equivalent of a comb-over. We know he wasn't really the coach, just as we know that Gene Keady is actually bald.

The victory total meant more to Paterno and Penn State football than the safety of Jerry's victims.

  8. The sanctions are unbelievable. What it looks like is that they are only allowed to even keep the football program open just so that they can pay the fines. They can't compete with the handicaps of the sanctions.

This is worse than shutting the program down.

It will be interesting to see how hard Penn State fights about this. There is controversy about whether the NCAA has the authority to do all this.

If it wasn't for the money (fine), I think Penn State might just take it quietly. But the money issue might make them fight.

PSU signed a consent agreement. If they try to fight it or back out, the deal's off and the NCAA can get really tough.
