  1. Here's a link to another La Scala Bass Bin Mod thread with links to other threads within that thread. Pay special attention to all posts by djk. He designed the mod and knows of what he speaks. Ported La Scalas?
  2. It would make it much easier to follow this worthy project if you consolidate all of your posts and photos into a single thread. Thanks!
  3. Restoman, It's good that you're in communication with Bob Crites. This is an interesting project. It's fortunate for you and the vintage audio world that these weren't sent to a landfill. Please keep posting photos and progress reports. But, PLEASE pick one of the threads and reply to it with new posts. Your EV Georgian reminds me of the only time I met PWK. He was doing a demo of his 3 channel format hosted by The Stereo Shoppe at Long's Convention Center in Lansing, MI. It must have been the mid to late 70's. After the very impressive demo, he was talking informally. The conversation, like his mind, went a mile a minute. One second he was talking about the economy (some things never change) and the next he was talking about his favorite single malt (I think) liquor. I asked him about the erfforts of Klipsch to license the Klipschorn. He said that it was discontinued due to the inability of Klipsch to monitor the build quality of 3rd party builders, including EV. He then asked, "Do you know what a Patrician is?" To which I naively replied, "It's a version of the Klipschorn built under license by Electro-Voice. He immediately responded, "It's a man who steps out of the shower to take a leak." It was clear that his entourage had heard the line before. Then it was off to a new topic. The whole encounter lasted less than 60 seconds.
  4. I'm not sure what it is, but if you Google Jensen K-310 a lot of intersting stuff comes up. Someone is asking $799 for a pair on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220688521896 http://www.hifido.co.jp/KWjensen/G2/E/0-50/C07-31813-92180-00/
  5. Moray, The USPS shipping calulator shows approximately $38 to ship the Jensen to you. Others have also expressed interest. Please let me know if it's worth it to you.
  6. This thread really appeals to oldtimers. At 1,751 posts, I'm the light weight.
  7. I should have started this in the Garage Sale section. It's now mentioned there with a link.
  8. The following thread was originally posted in 2 Channel. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/141116.aspx
  9. Yes, do all of those. As to what will produce the most noticeable improvement, my experience is limited to the DJK bass reflex mod and Crites tweeters. Nevertheless, I believe the new midrange horn and crossover upgrade would, together, be the biggest improvement. Next would be the bass reflex mod and finally the Crites tweeter. The change from the Crites tweeter would be the most subtle. Some love it; others prefer the K-77. Good luck, enjoy and please share the results.
  10. No apologies are necessary. I don't want them either. I'm still hoping that someone will value them enough to pay the shipping.
  11. The goal of reproducing live music assumes the venue is appropriate for the type of music, e.g., from a small club for a jazz group to a suitably sized auditorium for rock, symphonic, operatic, etc. The "live" concerts staged in stadiums are not what is trying to be reproduced.
  12. Using a AA battery, the woofer thumped and the tweeter crackled. That tells me both voice coils are intact. The woofer cone is torn. Beyond that I can add nothing.
  13. Fini, The Pilotuner model number is AF821. The tubes are: two 6BA6 and one each: 6AU6, 12AX7, 6U8, 6AL5, 12AU7, 6AB4 AND 6X5GT. It weighs ~ 13#. To your Zip Code by UPS ground would be $26.91 at 15#.
  14. If you're even a little bit interested in either of these, email your Zip Code and I can calculate the approximate UPS shipping cost.
  15. These might not be worth the cost of shipping, but who am I to say?
  16. Note the tear in the cone at 8:00 o'clock. The speaker weighs ~ 9.5#.
  17. EDIT: 02/28/11 The Pilot tuner is gone. _________________________________________ EDIT: 02/27/11 The Jensen coaxial speaker is on its way to a forum member in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to take up residence in a vintage Karlson cabinet. With luck, we'll see and read about how it works. __________________________________________ Either, or both, will be yours for the actual cost of UPS shipping. Help to keep these out of a landfill. They are a 15” diameter Jensen 2-way coaxial speaker and/or a Pilot Tuner. They belonged to a recently deceased father of a friend of mine. Photos are in the following posts. I have no additional information. If you’re interested, send me an email through the forum.
  18. Audible, Congratulations on your forum longevity! I enjoyed reading about your love of live music in general, and Phish in particular. PWK always aspired to recreate the dynamics and impact of live music. It's preaching to the choir, but good horn loaded speakers come closest to recreating live music.
  19. Happy Birthday Glenn! The Wings are off to a good start.
