  1. Glass??? That's a league above us. You getting that white stuff? Seems early. but I remember trick or treating in the slush. Thanksgiving was generally snowy. We movd here in '70
  2. Milk makes them tough, from what I hear. Mine get cooked straight up. S&P, in butter. Low heat. I use cast iron. And metal utensils. That non-stick is a bunch of hoooey. And the plastics spatulas. Those are worthless. If the pan is actually non-stick, you end up chasing the object around, trying to shove a 1/4inch thick spatula under it. Someone told me that the non-stick cookware needs to be seasoned??? Never had any. My cast is heirloom. Some from great-grands.
  3. I was gonna suggest one of those microwave egg cookers. From his posts... Steve's talents are not in the kitchen.
  4. come on down You are welcome. I was hoping you didn't say , turkey hot dog I did that a few years being single. One year I decided to cook for myself. The whole deal. I enjoy cooking. It's almost as good as eating. I do the do, even if I am the only one to eat it.
  5. I remember when "NewMath" came out. Folks were no help. They could give the right answer, but not by the method wanted. there is something way different now. Wife was reading some problems her kids have. Had me scratching my head. I was pretty good at math. I'm on the fence about homework. Like, did ya know that there is academics in kindergarten now? Most of our homework got done in study hall.
  6. we have a couple weeks till the big cook. Wife and I are going simple. Bird. We may smoke it Sides -- Mashed potatoes/gravy Stuffing Candied yams cranberry sauce. Pumpkin pie
  7. I think the cake might have a chance. Once the smoke cleared, it smelled good. Wife was wanting to clean the oven a couple weeks ago. She's glad she didn't. There's burned cake batter all over it.
  8. I'm at the height of ambition. after the false start, I made coffee. cooked some scrambled eggs for the kid and I. I dolled mine up in a tortilla with salsa and cheese. Then went back to bed. Woke to the smell of trash fire. went to the living room. wife asked if I was OK. Yeah, except for smelling trash fire. I thought she might have been trying to burn papers in the fireplace. Nah. She has a cake in the oven. And it's risen over the top of the pan. My 3in deep lasagna pan... Asked her what size pan the recipe called for... 9 X 13... I think she mis-measured something.
  9. sounds like my standards for silverware. I bought a set that was sturdy and appealing... only drawback, the spoon geometry is no good. Too deep for the width. You need to approach them for the side.
  10. I guess me telling you we're getting 60` low and 80` highs will not make you feel better It is cloudy.. That's a treat for us
  11. that's a serious fork I like it somebody forgot to turn the alarm clock off. Wife is off today and I just went to wake her. OOOOPS I was worried about it be Sunday or Monday. Had to check the channel guide to be sure. And then ..... Hope this isn't how the rest of the day does me.
  12. to all who served to preserve our freedom Thank you
  13. and it's horn loaded. another Chamber of Commerce day. A little overcast. That is unusual. Temps? How's 80` sound? Looks like folks east of the river are getting "Indian winter"... Skip Fall and go straight to snow and cold.
  14. the reference to fingers is not new to me. More familiar with the term used to measure mj in the old days. It's still used in bar lingo... cool
  15. that 1/2 still bothers me... whether it's his or hers
  16. because I am cheap free spotify... ads one for ScanDigital sounds like ad for the place in TotalRecall [1st version, Ahnold] where you buy memories of a vacation... just the way the say they will digitize your memories [vhs, pics...] for a lifetime of sharing, or something. Might be the tone combined with content. Struck me as odd "Get your memories back in digital form" just in time for the holidays.
  17. wasn't because she was curious about why he wore a sarong
  18. She is easy on the eyes. Has to be a saint to put up with Chuck
  19. I have to go to Tucson next week. I may take the Olds. People give it some space and when you put your turn signal on, they scatter. The old girl looks all of her 31 years. Still runs great. 30mpg isn't bad. It uses a little oil. When it's a quart down, it is time for an oil change anyway. What scares me about the car is the freeze plugs. Had one rot out. We could get at it. The others?????? fwiw I enjoy driving. If I lived on the eastern seaboard, I don't think I would drive. So much traffic. I'm spoiled. Traffic? Worst we see is behind the school buses in the AM.... The 25 mile drive from the interstate to here is relaxing. Just watch for cows standing in the road.
  20. I have stories.... at one ranch, they dropped a load of cows that weren't familiar with the area.... they stood in the road for 2 weeks. After the first 5 encounters, you learned to expect them. I learned how to persuade cows to move out of your way. This is gonna sound dangerous/stupid.... gently nudge them with your car. They won't notice anything less.
  21. As long as you're making good use/having fun with your time Smells moist this AM. Drinking transition coffee. Not enough of one to make a pot. So we add some new to make up the difference. No kid this AM. Or last night. Seems quiet. we got a fertilizer delivery the other day. The cows are in town and dropped a load in front of the house. They do weed control. Graze vacant and unfenced property [the park] in addition to easement.. You can opt out. No permit for fences required.
  22. I paid a fair price for a pair of vintage LS. '76 model year. refurbished... Gave less than $1500 for them and an H/K630. I think I got lucky. Sweet system. No warm glow of tubes, but ... and my wife likes the big black speakers. If wife approval factor is a consideration, you might be surprised. I showed her veneered models. She likes the black. from a cosmetic/decorator point, looks like a pair of vintage birch will fit nicely. Black would look nice in your space, too
  23. well ... at least there's no cob webs in the coffee pot where's Chuck? Off on a cruise or something? University of Arizona changed their brand from U of A to UArizona. All fine and dandy except it makes for a clumsy chant
  24. +1 LaScalas come up now and again. The wait will be worth it. Had mine home for a little more than a year. Every time I light them up, I am impressed.
