Yes.  I have been looking at the very impressive Klipsch stadium or the Devialet Phantoms.  I saw that amazon lowered the klipsch to a excellent $600. I’m debating if I should get it or continue saving for the devialet. In that process I saw in forums the word ‘la scala’ speakers and didn’t know what they were.  When I went to Klipsch and saw the information I was impressed. Saw the price and figured they must be really high end. But I was disappointed when I saw the frequency response only went down to 51hz. So I commented on here about them.  I love music but I want to hear all the frequencies especially the lowest tones.   That’s my quick background story. 🙂

Side note:   I admit I’m somewhat of a grammar Nazi. It should say “an excellent” not “a excellent”.

I'm not a bass head, but a lot of people are, nothing wrong with that.  You sound like a good candidate for a couple of 18" subs.  There are people here who have four or more, so you are not alone in your preference for bass.

I've never heard the Klipsch Stadium but if you have questions about those or the La Scala you might want to start a thread, just like you described above.  There are people here who own the Stadium who can give you advice.  Klipsch speakers follow a specific philosophy regarding high efficiency speakers and low distortion.  Simply looking at specs like frequency response does not always tell the whole story.

Here are my computer speakers.  The dual 12" woofers in the CF-4 along with a 15" center speaker and a 15" sub delivers the right kind of bass for me.

Lol. 😂 WOW!!!! 🤩 What an AWESOME  setup you have there!!!

We love having conversations here.  You do realize this is the Klipsch Discussion forum?

Even your member name "deep bass small size" indicates you are pushing a speaker of some kind that is not Klipsch.

I hope you don't think I'm being rude, but can you explain who you are and your interest in Klipsch speakers?

    Thank you.

Most here on the forum know better, peddle your wares elsewhere.

No need to be rude. I’m not peddling anything.  Just having a conversation about something I’m passionate about.

Of the websites that you could've chosen to challenge Hofman's Iron Law, this is perhaps one that is least likely to provide a great deal of  support for "small size and deep bass".

If you release your constraint of "small size", then you will find support here for your comments quoted above.

Thank you Chris. I think I’m going to go with the devialet phantom golds in my quest.  This impressive review gets my attention. Considering that law, I guess that accounts for the 4500watt rating. Fortunately, the amp is built in.

I wouldn't say it is about denial. I'd rather have the super clean fast undistorted bass of a Belle or a La Scala then have that bloated distorted single note bass of other speakers. It takes some getting used to and subwoofers are not easily matched to horns.

Why is it either or?   Why not demand both?  U can still have super clean undistorted bass while delivering the lowest lows as well.  To have one without there other is incomplete.   That’s just my opinion.  To each his own. 🙂

  8. I’m suprised at the number of folks on here who are satisfied with denying their listening experience the lowest of frequencies present within recordings.  In my mind, it’s an injustice to the musical experience.  From pipe organ registers, to electronic signals, to the deepest bass drum reverberations, those deep bass notes add a special fundamental grandeur and gravitas to music just as the artist intended. Why spend all of that money only to deny yourself the full audio spectrum?  It makes no sense to me.  This is one reason why the devialet phantom golds are so impressive to me. They deliver the lowest of bass (although a rotary subwoofer still has them beat).

The Klipsch stadium are spec'd at 26Hz, the Phantom are 16Hz (and 14Hz for the gold).

The new Phantom is $1700, the silver is $2400, and the gold is $3000.

The Stadium was $2000 and is $600 on Amazon, but I heard that parts are hard to come by.

The stadium will probably sound more like stereo than a single Phantom.

I have a pair of phantom, if you want them to play in stereo, you also need the dialog ($329).

But, the phantom will likely play lower.

It depends on your needs and budget.  Also, if you can find a good deal.

Thanks!   Glad u are enjoying yours 🙂

Well, I played with them a bit more on Wednesday, I had the day off and the family was out of the house, so I could play them loud.

I have some hearing loss issues and play my gear much less than I should, given all the gear I have.

However, some of the comments on this thread caused me to want to revisit the Phantoms.

First off, I have a pair.  I recommend a pair for the full effect.

I first heard the Phantom at AXPONA, they had a single in one of the hotel listening suites, not the proper set up to show them off.

I played all the music off my iPhone bluetooth connected to the speakers (you connect to one and they speaker to each other).

I used my iTune library, Amazon prime music, youtube, and some movie trailers.

Their bass extension is awesome, I played Green Day - Know Your Enemy.  The drums are fast, accurate, and punchy.

Some of the songs I listened to I heard new bass parts of the songs I don't remember ever hearing before.  I normally don't listen to music with a sub on.

The bass can be overbearing at times, the app doesn't have an EQ, if the bass is too much, but they do have an interesting night time mode, that softens the bass.

I played a few movie trailers, IMO, one of the best way to test out what a speaker system is capable of, since they throw everything they can in about 3min.

My standard was Life of Pi with the ship scene rattling the rafters with the Velodyne F-1500.  The Phantom do extremely well.  Jack Reacher trailers is also a great test.

I am not a bass fanatic.  I would be happy in my home theater without a sub.

The speakers do sound excellent.  They may be a bit more fatiguing (than the La Scala for example) to the ear at higher levels than I normally listen to them.

For a reality check, I played my reference song Lake Street Dive - What are you doing here (link below).  I compared the Phantoms and the La Scala.

The mids on the La Scala are hard to beat and they edged out the Phantoms (I'm not surprised).

However, the Phantom sounded great, but the big horn on the La Scala is a favorite of mine.

I have never heard the Phantom golds, the reviews say they are a bit more laid back in the bass and that the midrange and tweeters are good upgrade.

I am very happy with my purchase, they are the most money I have ever spent on a pair of speakers.  However, IMO they live up to most of the hype and superlative marketing.

Lastly, here is a professional reviewer's (that likely doesn't have my hearing issues) take on a pair of Phantom Golds.

He reviewed the silvers and then got his hands on a pair of gold.

    http://www.stevehuffphoto.com/2016/12/01/hifi-the-devialet-phantom-gold-speakers-full-stereo-pair-review/

Given your extensive collection and you still “hearing bass notes in songs you’ve never heard before” that’s pretty impressive for those phantoms.   I wonder what deep bass I’ve been denied?   Do u think the Klipsch stadium has as much bass as your phantoms?  Thx.

I'm really intrigued with these. I nearly ordered a pair just to hear them, luckily I looked them up and they have a store here in NYC. I'm going to stop by when I have time and have a listen.

    Any update?  Thanks.
