  1. The last pic in the listing is of Billy Thorpe Live in 1979. Is this the system he used? That would be a huge cool factor. Edit. The ad says it was owned by Leland Sklar who played bass for Billy Thorpe on the "Children of the Sun tour" The second link describes the speakers. (scroll down to the "Children of the Sun album") "We were getting down in the area of 6Hz at probably about 130dB. The first time we actually tested it we all threw up and cracked a wall in the warehouse. It was fantastic." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children_of_the_Sun_(Billy_Thorpe_album) https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2013/03/07/stories-behind-the-songs-leland-sklar/?fbclid=IwAR0RhGl3PdbZGJ2WCVK7cthH7CUs5Va73C9jdlku7nB3mpyJROxc-psLqC8
  2. I bought 2, K-1062-EV from Klipsch for my KLF-C7 for $94 each 3/22/19. If buying used $75 shipped would be fair IMO.
  3. Not mine. $2950 North Hollywood, Calif. https://reverb.com/item/31895442-klipsch-mcm-msm-1900-loudspeaker-pa-system-altec-291-16b-leland-sklar-37951?utm_source=braze&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Daily%20Feed%20Email

  5. You can always just make a new sale ad. GLWS !
  6. Just to add.... the K-1062-KV is the woofer for a KLF-C7. Change your ad header to say KLF-C7 woofer. Good luck with your sale.
  7. Edit... I purchased an Academy, it was damaged during shipping. It was missing a grill badge but the grill and fabric also were damaged from shipping. Does anyone have an Academy that has a messed up box but a good grill? Do you want to part it out or sell it whole? Thank you Hi guys, Does anyone have a badge for an Academy, KG or similar? If you have one, let me know. I can do cash or trade. Here is a link to the badge I am looking for. https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS724US724&q=Klipsch+Academy+badge&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwikyqLIor7nAhVXaM0KHc1sAh4QsAR6BAgKEAE&biw=1242&bih=575#imgrc=5ug_lzl1Ld7M1M Thanks for looking. crunchman

  10. https://erie.craigslist.org/ele/d/erie-klipsch-chorus-2-speakers/7066296931.html There are Chorus I's and II's for sale in Erie, PA. I need a second pair of Chorus II's to match my Walnut Oil but these are Oak Oil. The I's are Walnut Oil. Go get 'em.
  11. Yes, that sounds about right on cost. It is sold at many stores, Shellac.net is cheapest at $7.69 a can but they hammer you $19 for shipping on 4 cans. I can get away with one can of each for a set of KLF-20's but I always order two of each so my project does not come to a stand still in case I need one more coat...
  12. Hey 314carpenter, Before I refurbed my first set of KLF-20's, I researched online for the best rattle can Lacquer finishes. Nitrocellulose Lacquer kept popping up. Behlen and Mohawk (same company / products with different part #'s) were regarded as the best from the reviews I saw. I think I saw on here somewhere the % of sheen Klipsch used but it basically boiled down to a "Satin" finish IMO. At this point in the vintage KLF line and others, nobody can say the Behlen Satin finish seems to be this percent of sheen shinier or duller since over time the sheen fades and we don't have a factory fresh KLF to compare it to. I use the Satin Black Behlen followed up with the Clear Satin Lacquer to help protect the Black Satin paint finish. As seen from my KLF refurb pics above, the Satin sheen is nice without being overly glossy and it looks very close to the original finishes I have seen online for the KLF's. I also use the Clear Satin Lacquer on the stained speaker refurbs I do to protect the stain and soften the gloss left after staining. I am not saying the Dupli-Color paint is the wrong product to use as I have never tried it but the online reviews I have seen say Nitrocellulose is the superior Lacquer product. Take care.
  13. I use Behlen nitrocellulose lacquer, great stuff. 2 cans of each is plenty for 3 coats of Black and clear on a pair of KLF-20's. Buy it here..... https://www.shellac.net/
  14. Thanks for the information. Keep me posted on your CF-3 refurb. Feel free to contact me if needed. Take care.
  15. Now that you mention it, maybe the C7 tweeter was a bolt on like the K-79-K's on the KLF- 20's & Chorus II's. It has been awhile since I swapped the diaphragm for the Crites Titanium. The KLF 20 midrange was indeed a screw on though. I think the confusion is the KLF 20 / 30 midrange horn is the same as the C7 and KV4 tweeter horn? (plastic horn piece only, different drivers)
  16. Duratex is not to bad... I bought a quart for my Dayton Audio flat pack that I used with the Ultimax UM 18-22. Here is a link. https://www.parts-express.com/acry-tech-duratex-black-1-quart-roller-grade-cabinet-texture-coating-kit-with-textured-3-r--260-111
  17. Not sure, both my KLF-C7 and my spare K-64-KN are threaded onto the driver phase plug assembly. I have not owned a KV-4 yet but I am on the hunt. Doesn't really matter how the horn is attached to the driver as long as the horn piece is the same size, it would work.
  18. I have not seen the special edition matte Black in person so I cannot recommend how to finish them. You could however use something like Duratex with a smooth roller for a matte black, semi textured look.
  19. They are close, are the K-64-KN and the K-90-KV horns the same size for the cutout? That would definitely open your possibilities to new veneers.
  20. Maximus89, PM me if you need tips on refurbing the CF-3's. I learned a few tricks along the way.
  21. Oil is like stain. You need the oil or stain to flash off the solvents before top coating. (a few days to weeks depending on the outside temp) If you want to match your Black Vinyl KV-4, then you would need to refurb the CF-3's to Black Satin.
  22. Well, Not a big deal to pull the woofers and front baffle of the CF-3's. Strip the paint as noted above and see how they look. You really don't see the finish from the front anyways. On another note... I would just re-spray Satin Black. Any speaker I refurb, I match the color to the tag unless someone buys them and if they want pink, pink it is. lol
