  1. Thanks to all for your responses. I am now confident I will do no harm to my receiver...and can move on and worry about far more pressing world problems
  2. I just bought a pair of Forte 1's. And am driving them with a Yamaha receiver that has the option of a 6 ohm setting ( In addition to 8 ohms). But not rated for 4 ohms. The impotence confuses me. It is described as an 8 ohm speaker on the website https://f072605def1c9a5ef179-a0bc3fbf1884fc0965506ae2b946e1cd.ssl.cf2.rackcdn.com/product-specsheets/forte-brochure.pdf but I believe it drops to 4 ohms and below at some frequencies Two questions 1. should I worry about damaging my receiver if I use the 6 ohm setting? 2. even if there is no damage, am I losing performance? my receiver has a rating of 90 WPC Thanks in advance John
  3. I have found some original Fortes that appear to be in nearly mint condition for $500. Nothing done to crossovers or tweeters. This seems to be a more than fair price. Maybe I could get lucky and do better, but I'm planning to move ahead Does anybody disagree?
  4. I have 3 KG4..right, left and center. I am thinking about upgrading two of them to Fortes, and leaving a KG4 as a center..works fine now, and reason why it should not work well with Fortes? Thanks John
  5. Please let me know of you have any for sale, or know of anybody who does Thanks John
  6. I'm thinking about upgrading my KG4's and I think I can do it for about $200-250 out of pocket. My use is primarily home theater, and find the KG 4's satisfactory..so I am drawn to the opportunity to make a step up for not much money. If I did this, would the KG4 I am using as a center channel blend well? Thanks for any advice, John
  7. I ended up buying an SVS SB 12 NSD...and use my old Klipsch KSW 12 as a second woofer. The SB12 is compact size, and about all I can fit in. I'm sure it will be a big improvement
  8. SOLD at $180 . Buyer got a good price, and there are gone!
  9. Mark, I think this is the model that preceded yours, which makes it about 15 years old..but way younger than my speakers. I worry about having to replace the amp and other issues of age. Do you have any idea of what the lifetime is of a sub-woofer and the electronics? Do you think it would be in the same league as your PB2000? Not equal , but same neighborhood? Thanks
  10. I am a cheapskate at heart. I found an Outlaw LFM 1 on Craigslist. A highly reviewed speaker in it's day. But could be nearly 15 years old..$300 seems like a lot. https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/dak/ele/d/outlaw-lfm-1-subwoofer/6516090254.html I'm sure it would be a big upgrade, but I know nothing about it's history. Wondered if it is getting to age where amplifier might fail. What is fair price, is this a good idea? Thanks John
  11. I added the matching center channel and bumped the price to $179...not a single inquiry. I don't think the price is the problem...simply finding somebody who wants them
  12. I been upgrading my home theater and now have 3 KG 4s ( left center and right)..but the KSW 12 subwoofer is the only holdover. It's all I know, but I wonder if a subwoofer upgrade would yield dramatically better sound and worth the money...does it make sense?...and what I could expect to gain in the mid priced range..for example a SVS PB2000...the listening room is large but difficult to estimate cubic feet because it is semi round. I'd be especially interested in comments from those that have moved up from and entry level subwoofer, and recommendations on brand/model are always appreciated Thanks John
  13. Thank you all for your help and advice. For now, I am going to place the KG 4 on the floor vertically, 3 KG4's sound so wonderful and well blended..I do think a Crites tweeter upgrade makes sense, my two other KG 4's have this. John
  14. Do you think I would do better offering it along with a Klipsch center ( SC 1) for another $40? Could be the base for a really low cost HT system..or sell it separately? or offer it both ways?
