  2. They appear to be in reasonable shape.  Oak.  Dusty but nice.  No pics of the backsides, unfortunately, but we know what they are...

Recently upgraded with Crites tweeters and crossovers. The cabinets were refinished and look better than new. The sound is absolutely amazing. Comes with custom made matching oak stands

I recently acquired a pair of Heresy II's. They are in rough shape. Only one speaker has a label. They look like the Wicked Witch of the West, but sound like Christy Brinkley.

Can someone decipher the label ? I am fairly new to all of this (plug and play guy) . My wife says I'm having to much fun wasting money.

Born in 1985, and it is a "Heresy 2" because it appears to be a non-removable back panel (with no screws holding the panel in place).

  4. And the answer is no, planes on treadmills will not take flight.

It's all about how much air movement can be generated over the tops of the wings to create the vacuum needed for lift.  On a treadmill the planes will stay firmly planted.  You make the wheels turn fast, but in relation to the air the plane is not moving at all.

I should point out, I'm not an admin here.  I just used to work for IPS.  I know the structure for the software and the thinking they've used for the majority of IPS4.  Just clarifying an answer from the development end when I see an opportunity to share the information I have.

I should have been clearer in my post.  "Your" meant the all-inclusive.  Everyone that worked on doing this upgrade, Chad plus everyone else who had a hand in it.

That's entirely up to individual forum operators.

As for the reason we were toying with dumping it from IPS, we noted issues with people complaining about superiority complexes for lack of a better term.  It was also easier to db query the post counts than the reaction counts (in 3, it was easier in 4).  Either way, post count's are standard forum measurement - that's true across all forum software.  Reactions weren't.  Posts were part of the core, you had to turn reactions on (you could always post, but not react).

Nothing's stopping the admin from installing a third party plugin either way.

Don't get me wrong, I love the changes and the (somewhat) new look.  I appreciate all of your time on the admin side doing upgrades like these, as they are never quite as straightforward nor easy as they are made out to be.  A big "Thank You!" to everyone involved.

    Thanks Chad.

The old one was messing with me a bit.

IPS likely moved these to a non-core feature.  Even in v3 we were contemplating removing it, I guess they finally just pulled the trigger a version and a half later.

I think I would rather swap the post counts out, and keep the reaction counts.  This will remove the impetus to simply post "Me too" solely for a higher post count.  I think it will actually facilitate quality content over raw post counts...

I had a KP speaker which had a similar anomaly. The pair sounded okay, but not exactly right. Thumping the woofers with the tips of my fingers produced a springing sound from one.

It doesn't seem to be affecting the sound at all.  I took it to mean that the box construction was still tight and has not been beaten up with travel and use.  I will keep an ear on it.

Cool man...let know how they do in the lineup please...

They turned out to be fantastic.  The sound is now more full and the stage seems wider.  More comments once I've run them for a while.

One thing I did notice while carrying them into the house was the box "rang" when I lightly bumped it against a door jam.  It vibrated like a bell.

Enjoy your day out...watch out for tourists.

Thank you, I definitely did.  These turned out to unused, or nearly so.  No scratches.  At all.  No wear or tear, no gunk in the rat fur, nothing.  Just pristine.

I will be hooking them up in a few minutes to see how they get along with the rest of the system, but I don't foresee any issues.  It doesn't look like anyone has ever plugged in a 1/4" connector in the back of these things.  According to the owner, his half brother was a musician who bought these new and only used them a couple of times, which is believable due to the condition.
