  1. I always have my receiver and speakers on when I'm watching satellite TV broadcasts and my unit is a Denon 2802. I don't watch VHS tapes anymore anyway but I also hear everyone saying that PL II also sounds great for regular TV. I have tried using it but still find that 5 Channel Stereo sounds better even on regular TV because there is constant info. being heard from the rears. I agree that PLII is an improvement over the original version and you hear a little more from the rears but it doesn't seem as dramatic an improvement as everyone says. Am I missing something? Also, it seems that I hear a little more from the rears in the music mode than the cinema mode when watching TV. This doesn't make sense to me. Is PLII just better suited for older DVD's and VHS Tapes than regular TV? ------------------ the goods

    Blade II

justin, it might help to watch Blade I first since there are a few flashback scenes in Blade II that relate to what happen in the first one if you are really into the storyline but I just like the action and Blade II has so much more and the DTS soundtrack is so much better than the Dolby Digital version on the first one. ------------------ the goods

    Blade II

I bought this DVD yesterday and the sound is outstanding! It has a DTSEs soundtrack that is killer. I don't even have the surround back speaker but even in DTS 5.1 it is one of the best sounding DVD's I have heard to date. I thought that it would have good sound but didn't expect it to be THAT good. This is definitely a demo disc to add to your collection. ------------------ the goods

    Buyer Beware

Cluless, My apologies. I didn't realize you were a "dudette". But you should definitely check out the chapters of the Thin Red Line listed in my previous post. Sure there are a lot of boring parts in the movie but the action scenes are intense! ------------------ the goods

    Buyer Beware

cluless, Dude: The Thin Red Line dts version has some awesome sound. Go to chapter 9(Starnes Attack). Also Chapter 16 when they take the jap bunker. I have a 5 disc dvd changer and this disc remains in it at all times. Chapter 16 is definitely show off material. You must skip the boring parts and go straight to the good stuff!! ------------------ the goods
  6. I didn't say it has the most bass of any movie but as far as the clarity and constant use of the surrounds it is hard to beat. Very detailed sounds. ------------------ the goods
  7. boa12, If it comes out in dts, I'll just buy that version too. If I were you I would go ahead and buy it now though. It sounds that good. If it comes out in dts I would think it would be several months down the line. Just my 2 cents ------------------ the goods
  8. boa12, I would have to say that I think as far as sound goes it tops the Matrix. Movies with lots of gunshot effects are always favorites of mine and they are non-stop in this one. Don't get me wrong, the Matrix has a great soundtrack as well but I still feel Black Hawk Down is the best Dolby disc I own at this point. High praise I know but it is deserving. Check it out and you'll see what I mean ------------------ the goods
  9. KAin, I do own the Saving Private Ryan dts version. You will find no argument fom me that it is reference material. But as far as dolby digital discs, Black Hawk Down is as good as it gets.I can't even begin to imagine how good it would sound if it was in dts. Go get it! You won't be disappointed. As far as my system, it's not audiophile but it sounds good for my needs: Marantz SR7200 A/V Receiver Sony DVPC660 5 disc changer(for dvd's only since it won't support cdr playback) Marantz CC4000 OSE 5 disc cd changer(great piece of gear) Fronts: SB2 bookshelf Center: SC1 Rears: SS1 Sub: Def Tech ProSub 100TL 10" sub(Awesome sub) ------------------ the goods
  10. I bought this DVD yesterday and it is awesome! The surround effects are amazing. I wish it had a dts version to go along with the dolby digital version but the dolby digital sounds great. I would definitely have to say it's the best sounding dolby digital disc I own. This is a must have for your show off collection. ------------------ the goods
  11. KAiN64, They have better audio and video. Buy one. You'll see what I mean. ------------------ the goods
  12. I've listed it in the section "Movies to show off your killer system." Not only this but all of the suberbit titles that I have are great. The others I have are The Fifth Element, Dracula, and Vertical Limit. You should check these titles out as well ------------------ the goods
  13. boa12, I have the synergy series. SB2 mains, SC1 center, and SS1 surrounds ------------------ the goods
  14. Does Denon's sound seem dull to you guys when listening to cd's? It kind of does to me. I have the 1801 and it seems flat in 5 ch. stereo. Will Yamaha provide more treble for a crisper high end? I haven't had the chance to compare the two but I heard Yamaha amps are brigther which I think would be the sound I'm looking for. Any feedback about this comparison? ------------------ the goods
  15. I bought Behind Enemy lines yesterday. It has a dts soundtrack and there are some awesome gunshot effects. I was surprised at the quality of sound on this disc. Definitely check this one out. ------------------ the goods
