Being a person who is very cautious but also very open with letting people come over to listen to these diamonds in the rough, the video aspect and consequences never crossed my mind.
Talking about pro gear that requires a "special knock" to the right person is probably counter productive given his scope of talking about residential gear.

Don't get me wrong, every conversation we have had, he has always praised Klipsch and Roy.
The last conversation i had with him just threw me for a loop.

I have met Steve on a number of occasions. During our conversations he has said he has yet to hear them but wanted to.
Every occasion I have met him, I have made an open invite to comedown to my house ( 2 hour commute) for a private session.
Each time I offer this up, he has insinuated that he wants to be chauffeured and wined/dined before he even considers.
Last time we spoke brought the offer up again and he said he doesn't consider the Jubilee as something worth listening to because it is a Professional Speaker....
Perhaps his YouTube fame is getting to his head.....

When I was using passive networks I used an Ashly 31 band analog EQ on the tape monitor loop of my preamp. That was a very satisfying solution and was able to successfully flatten the response. If you are using 402 horns you need EQ...........or some other horns.
Do you really need all 4 of those TAD drivers!?!? lol
I'm still on a quest for a nice clean pair for a reasonable price!

Have you even done a blind test between a passive k402 system and k402 system utilizing DSP?
While i understand your feelings having been there myself, you're leaving a lot on the table.
As far as I know, the only passive I'm aware of that can be purchased for a Faital driver ( HF200) is from Crites...

( Just a FYI, those radian drivers you're using are quite good, i know many k402 owners who use them w/wo BE and are pleased with them.)

I built a dedicated soundproof listening room for my Jubilee / 1502 combo.
dimensions are 14'w/20'l/8.5'H
You'll need 4 channels of amplification and a preamp that has precuts ( preferably XLR)

Hey Klipsch family!
Call out to all veteran Jubilee and Khorn owners.
Have been toying with the idea idea of moving my Jubilees from the short wall to long wall.
What are the pros and cons of doing so.
In doing so I think this will force me to move my seating position against the back wall. Any issues with this?
Room is 14’x20’

Small world! Digital & Vinyl but more of a vinyl rig... Hybrid System, Tube Preamp, and SS amps... Active and yes I enjoy both!

I would have to agree with Chris. Lowering the 402's and applying a fractional order crossover was a game changer and I do not see myself changing back.Since learning how to utilize the fractional order crossover concept I have also applied this to my 1502 subwoofer as well..

I too festered over adding a digital source to my analog/vinyl front end.
(Dont take my bluntness as being arrogant, but... Get over it..)
The Xilica brings so much to the table for Jubilees, it would be almost foolish to try to go passive..
I would be very surprised to see a passive network sound better than a dialed in Jubilee setup with an active DSP.
TAD TD-4002.... To be honest, they are not worth the money at the current unobtainium costs they are going for... Plus its always a gamble if the BE diaphragms are in working order, if not your in it for even more money.
Instead, opt for the Faital HF20AT drivers or the Radian BE drivers.
The Faitals are now discontinued but you can still find them at a fraction of the price of the TAD and the Radian BE.
I am currently running the Faital HF20AT drivers with a First Watt J2 amp it would be very very hard to tell the difference between the TADs in a blind test.
My last suggestion would be trying to go all balanced if possible.
Jubilees are not for the faint of heart and while Cory and Roy do their best to get these things as close as possible to Plug and Play, it will take some serious time to dial them in for that last 10% of fidelity... It took me just over a year to get mine to where i would say they are perfect.
Good luck with your Jubilee journey, they will be the last speaker you will ever own.

Just a TIP....
If you can permanently plug your Xilica into your home router, you can wirelessly connect to it from your laptop.
Only thing you need to do is assign it an IP address.
Not having to be tethered to a USB cable is so nice...

Look at the raw response of your drivers/horns. Without FIR filtering, you can't improve on the response that you see there after they've been EQed flat (individually). So you need to select drivers and horns that have good phase response characteristics. It just so happens that the Jub bass bins and TAD 4002/K-402 horns have really good phase response taken individually--after they've been EQed flat by themselves.
So all you have to do is put the HF and LF drivers together without phase shifts:
- Don't use the "crossover filters" that come with DSP crossovers--clear any crossover filters if they're set.
- Set the HF or LF channel delay to get perfect impulse response in the time domain--as seen in the spectrogram view.
- Flatten each driver's SPL response within their pass bands.
- Match the channel gains between flattened phase drivers.
- Use output channel PEQs to trim off response on each end of the bass and high frequency drivers until you've got overall flat SPL across the crossover interference band and smooth handover of SPL vs. frequency. The drivers themselves will tell you where that transition/crossover should occur. [If you're using MEHs, you'll have to use multiple PEQs to attenuate the bass bin peaks in response above the first notch frequency.]
- Use the input PEQs to further flatten the overall response within the interference band to correct any dips or peaks in response within that band.
Voila! Flat phase. It's really that easy.
