  1. I have a pair La Salas and a pair of Khorns. I have an MC275 which I LOVE!! I’m definitely keeping it. I also have an MC 2205 which pales in comparison to the tube amp. I am selling the MC2205

The delima: I will have 2 sets of speakers and one amp. I would like to try something different. Let’s hear it guys!

    Mark Levinson?

    Bryston?
    etc.

Just met with the seller. Nice speakers in really good shape. They will be home with me soon as long as things go as we discussed. 15 miles from my house. Thank you RobF who started this thread for the heads up.

    No Problem! I enjoy it!

Heres a pic from the "dj booth". Just making sure all formats sound good. The preamp is an Alpha Recording System 4 channel rotary mixer made in Japan. One of the best sounding dj mixers possibly ever made. Using Ortofon 2M red cartridges for now.

Mancuso was born on October 20, 1944 in Utica, New York. He was born out of wedlock while his mother's husband was serving in World War II and lived in an orphanage for the first five years of his life. Although he nominally resided with his mother thereafter, he remained a frequent runaway and spent a year in reform school as a teenager; during this period, he cultivated an interest in early rhythm and blues music.

I was hoping this would turn into a David Mancuso thread 😀

Nice, I had plans of building a pair as well. After looking at the plans i seen a lot of complicated cuts which changed my mind.  A very complicated build for sure.  Nice job.

Sorry maybe I shouldn't of said custom build. The risers and corners where custom built. The Horns themselves are original 1982 found in the Garage Sale section on here.

Nice job, that is exactly what I did years ago when I first got into HT and had some Academy's.  Took a 2x2 piece of plywood, put a sconce on it with a (single) 3/4" pipe taking it up like you did and had the Academy sitting on top of it.  The weight of the LaScala keep everything in place.

Question....  does it seem to change the apparent scale of your sound or does it sound the same as when they're normal height?

The sound scale changes for sure from further away. The purpose of raising the tophats is to push the mids and highs over a crowded dance floor.

Welcome, I cannot imagine how the job of lifting them into position is being done. It seems like it would be so top heavy.

Surprisingly easy actually. 2 man job and once its all together you an grab the two front poles and shimmy the whole speaker into place.
