  1. carlthess40- came with R & L XLR Diamond from AudioQuest. Chocolate HDMI & Optical Cables as well. So far very happy with setup. I have a question, however, when i turn the volume dial up, it takes a reading of 50-75 (digital readout on Marantz) to produce good sound. It gets loud over 80. Is that normal? Seems high to me to have to get to 50 just to have a low volume?
  2. Thanks for the thoughtful replies and suggestions. Picked up Marantz 8802A & 8807 AMP, wrapped in box(s) $1,500. Have not installed yet, but pretty happy with the "find".
  3. Teaman, thanks, looks like a solid recommendation.
  4. I "need" not be overwhelmed by the number of ridiculous options /choices/ directions I could go with this stuff, lol. Seriously, If I go with "used/dated" as far as I can tell I lose only the Dolby Atmos? The afore mentioned components have 4K and various apps. I get both the amp and processor for $1500, which seems like a great buy. How important, really, Is the latest and greatest?
  5. Thoughts on getting "old" tech (2-4 years) quality receiver at +/- 75% discount from original price, versus spending same money current model for lesser quality? IE- Marantz 8801/8802 processor with 8077 AMP for $1500- or go out and buy current DENON, YAMAHA, ELITE for same $1500 ? The original combo of Marantz equip would have been in excess of $5k, does it make any sense to go that way now? Or go after latest greatest? Thank you. Theater 80%- Music 20% FORTE II SVS SUB PB 2000 x 2 CSC-1 CENTER CHANNEL INFINITY RS-125 REAR Ceiling Speakers Installed- unknown at this time.
  6. On a whim, would like to update a few components for home theater 75% use, 25% music. (Theater use takes precedent) What AV Receiver would perform well with the following? Thoughts and or comments on existing speakers and or potential modest upgrades. Had the Sony STR DN 1080 in mind, as it is very budget friendly. Target price would be $1,000 or less, unless there was a stellar reason to go up to $1500. Just bought the LG 77 C-8 OLED as the center piece of the home theater. (Moved Pioneer Elite Kuro into bedroom) Outstanding TV ! I already own the following, except the subwoofers, which are being negotiated and purchased while posting this: 2 Klipsch Forte II with Crites upgrades 1 CSC-1 Crites Center Channel 2 SVS PB 2000 (possibly could buy 2 used Klipsch R15 SW locally at a $400 premium) 2 Infinity R125 Bookshelf speakers. Also 2 in-ceiling rear speakers, unknown make or model at this time. Ok, opening up myself to the critique and abuse, lol. Welcome thoughtful opinions, thanks.
