  1. Is the dac in my preamp better than a dac in a player? Playthrough or built in dac? Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
  2. I'm not sure if I have any sacd. Are they common? Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
  3. I've been listening to vinyl records primarily, and I'm wanting something to be able to listen to my old CD collection. My setup currently is Parasound A21, Parasound P6, and Klipsch RF7III's. Turntable (rega planar3) is going to a schiit mani. My collection of Cd's are about half burned by myself and half bought. Not looking for any frills or a streaming device. Just good sound. Budget $600 but could be convinced to spend more if justified.
  4. got everything up and running, and I'm posting my mandatory pics for the "help me choose" thread 2 x cornscalas (K33 E woofers, K51 V mids, crites CT 125 tweeters, modded B2 battery biased crossovers from Alethia) 2 x PSA 3611 parasound halo integrated 6 audio technica lp40wn The room acoustics are very bad. I've got some moving blankets I'm going to hang from the rafters, and some foam panels I'm gonna stick to the walls. Hopefully that will help. I'll probably end up getting rid of the subwoofers. Everything in here rattle like crazy. I think I'm not as much of a basshead as I thought I was, or the cornscalas have enough for my taste.
  5. Are the LDAC and aptxHD codecs included in that? I haven't heard them myself, but the specs of the LDAC don't look terrible. Compare the ldac bluetooth at 24 bit/96kHz to the typical CD rate 16 bit/44kHz. So the LDAC bluetooth connection has a higher bit depth and a higher sample rate. So, If I could get a decent file on my phone, I should, in theory, be able to get decent playback. That's what I'm hoping anyway. But, if I can't get a streaming service with decent files, I suppose none of this matters.
  6. This system will be in a detached shop with no internet (wireless or wired). Most source will be from phono or CD. Just trying to find a decent way to get music from phone with no wifi. So tidal from phone (aux or bt) will be compressed? Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
  7. I know the general consensus regarding wired vs bluetooth sound quality seems to always go to wired. But with new codecs such as LDAC (990kbps @ 24bit/96kHz) it seems like BT should be really good. I don't have a bluetooth device that supports LDAC or aptxHD at the moment, but I'm wondering how these two codecs would compare to wiring via aux 3.5mm. Source will be tidal via an android phone.
  8. Well, yesterday turned out to be my lucky day. PSA facebook page listed some new b-stock inventory and they had two s3611s. Got those two for a GREAT deal! $2600 shipped for the pair. Still have 3 years warranty. Those should fill the space quite well. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
  9. How about the gsg devastator tuned to 28hz? Could I get by with one? Would it be clean and tight? Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
  10. Building a shop. 30x50 with 10ft eaves. Approximately 20,000 cubic ft. I've got a pair of cornscalas. Need something for the low end. Will be 100% music no home theater no LFE. Size and aesthetics are not important. I can go big and ugly if needed. I'd like to keep costs under $2500. I would like to put an emphasis on tightness and accuracy over output but I'd still like to feel it. Right now I'm considering dual sealed 15s or dual sealed 18s if at my budget. I like the idea of dual hsu vtf 15h mk2. I like the idea of being able to seal the ports or remove if I want more output. I also like the dual PSA s1812 but it would be an expensive option. Also the psa s3612 but I'd only be able to get one. Also considering a DIY I've just never done one and not sure about how they would sound compared to the others. I've got carpentry skills but that's about the extent of my sub building skillset. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
  11. I've been between 3 amps. Primaluna evo 300, ma252, and for an inexpensive option to potentially upgrade later the parasound newclassic 200. Leaning towards the primaluna Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
  12. How about the mcintosh ma352? It's an integrated hybrid. Tube preamp with SS amp. I've been interested in the ma252 but haven't talked to anybody that's actually heard one. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
  13. Initial plan was to do cerwin Vegas or jtr cabinets with some bass bins but I decided to scale back and do something that fits my decor a bit better Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
  14. Central Texas near college station. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
  15. I have yet to see any la scalas that get close the price of the cornwalls. I've been keeping eye open for a used set.
  16. I'm currently researching for an amp for a set of cornwall iv's. Anybody have experience with the mcintosh ma252? I've always thought mcintosh to be outside of my price range, but this is in integrated hybrid amp that retails at $3500.
  17. I really think either way im going to want to add a sub. I just may have to do it in a year or two. I think I'd rather get the 2.0 system exactly how i want it so i wont be wondering what if. I don't doubt that the dual tens have more bass than the single 15's, but if you look just solely at the sq inches of woofer i think the CW still has more area.
  18. Well, considering my budget and performance I think I've decided on the cornwalls. I emailed tom from PSA about implementing the s3612 and he actually suggested a cerwin vega bass bin el-36dp given the size of the room. It's a bit cheaper than the s3612 I was looking at, but I honestly have never looked into this type of sub.
  19. I think the Khorns and La Scalas will be out of budget. I'm interested in the Cornwalls. I could get the Cornwalls as a 2.0 for about the same price as the 2.1 setup RF7iii with a $2k sub. Would I be left wanting a sub if I went with the Cornwalls? I'm not necessarily a bass head but I do like to hear a bass line.
  20. I want to do a 2.0 or 2.1 setup for my new shop. It will be 30x50 and completely exposed foam insulation. So, it's a big room. I've narrowed it down to pair of RF-7iii or forte iii. I really prefer the aesthetics of the forte and they will fit the theme of the garage with my 60s and 70s trucks, old fridge, old decor etc. But I think the rf7s will sound better. Not opposed to adding a sub if needed with the fortes. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
  21. anybody know where you can get a bluray version of the dolby atmos demo?
  22. I'd get that out of my cart asap! Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
  23. So, can we expect a price drop for the previous rp line? Or not for a while? Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
