  1. I haven't received the Chorus yet. I was curious, will there be a noticeable difference in sound of the Fortes vs the Chorus? Obviously a larger woofer but.... Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks! I haven't received the Chorus yet. I was curious, will there be a noticeable difference in sound of the Fortes vs the Chorus? Obviously a larger woofer but.... Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks for letting me in this group. I was shocked to see them and then super-shocked at the price. I figured they were all blown but we hooked them up and played beautifully. Also note they mislabeled the model.... SCORE!! The picture with the cabinets, the left one, I have worked on with some steel wool and Watco's. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  4. I'm currently using the Fortes for my Mains in the Living room. I plan to swap the Chorus into that position and hoping the wife doesn't notice that the speakers "grew" a little bit. [emoji16] Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

  6. I caught the fever. Knew it would happen. Haha. Bought a pair of Chorus today from a gentleman down in Florida. Perhaps he's on this board. Sounds like he had a nice collection and didn't exactly want to part with them. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  7. Are these the Jubilee's you speak of? https://kansascity.craigslist.org/ele/d/klipsch-corner-horns/6650985159.html Hopefully I'm not breaking a forum rules by including this link.
  8. I bought the wife a carpet cleaner a couple years ago. I might put that to use. They don't look all that dirty but could probably use a good cleaning now that you mention it.
  9. Jim - I just had it in my head that these were 31 years old and could stand some updating. When I cracked open the tweeters for the Crites, the old diaphragms looked and sounded fine to me. They looked brand new honesly. So now they are in the little box that the Crites came in and will serve as spares if ever needed. The new crossovers and tweeter diaphragms will do for now I guess. I can't get the mids anyway! When I redid the one speaker cabinet, it turned out sort of red-ish in color. Not exactly what I was expecting, plus the wife even commented on it. I used Watco Dark Walnut Danish Oil and then the Howard's wax. I wondered if the Howard's tweaked the colors a little bit. I think I might hit it again with the steel wool and see if I can get a different result. I used some Loctite Stik'n Seal Ultra adhesive. Seems to have taken just fine. We'll see with some bit of time. Thanks for all the help and insight. Neal
  10. I got the new Crites tweeter diaphragms and Crossovers installed. I threw some adhesive on the 1 punctured passive. Just need to finish off the remaining cabinet and I'll be all set. They sound great. Mr. Crites recommended SimplySpeakers.com for my mids upgraded diaphragms but they're out of stock at the moment. Badges should be in this week also.
  11. Just noticed this. Looks like a puncture in the Passive. Still holds it's rounded shape but I believe she's punctured. Any thoughts? I thought it still sounded fine. Will the air potentially escaping the cabinet adversely affect anything? Could I seal it with some adhesive? Or just leave it be? Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  12. Not too shabby for a first attempt. Left side one has the work done. [emoji16] Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  13. Wow, never thought about that or knew they were hard to replace. They are in perfect condition! I started to ask how to cover them but will search first... [emoji16] I ordered 2 name badges off the web. I took some 0000 steel wool to them this morning with some Watco Oil and Howard's Wax. Will get some pics when finished. I found out the risers are just screwed on. I unscrewed them and spin them around so the best side is forward. Still gonna fix the veneer or go solid Walnut risers. Crites internals should be here tomorrow. Can't wait to fire them up. I read about breaking in the new diaphragms. I will search for more about that too. Thanks Gents.
