I have searched high and low for Klipsch parts. If they sell the KD-17, they don't want you to know it. Can anybody share contact info for Klipsch parts?

BTW, SS says it is 4.2 oz. and they have in the past fabricate one using fourteen 1" fender washers and epoxy.

Here's the weird thing. I could not locate the weight to reuse as Simply Speakers suggests. There's no way it could have left the cabinet. Dust Cap was off, so I even checked to see if there was a weight stuck to the magnet of the 18" driver. I also did not detect any epoxy residue or the like in the neck of the torn cone. Almost as if there never was a weight or someone reconed without one. I just assumed Klipsch would not have the passive resonator for a cab that is 20 years old, but I will definitely check on that.

I've got a KD-17 from a KP480 that I need to recone. I understand that the center of the spider should have a weight made of epoxy covering metal. I don't have that weight. If I have to fabricate, any idea of the weight spec?

Inputs should pass through the fuse and on to the input of the crossover. Hopefully, the xlr is parallel. It would be odd that someone added the xlr as given a choice to modify an input that is the last thing i would do. As suggested, they could have been used with a subwoofer but I don't know that any subwoofers come with the xlr connector. Maybe someone had some KP-450 bottom cabinets and added the xlr to mate them with the 201s. Bottom line, you need to pull the input panels and take a look.

Either bin will work as the banana jacks should be paralleled with the XLRs. I see someone added a speakon so hopefully it is paralleled as well.

I have not seen the XLRs on a KP-201. Klipsch did use a female xlr to female xlr cable to connect the horn section of their KP-450 to the woofer cabinet. The low pass portion of the crossover lived in the woofer cab and the high pass lived in the separate horn cabinet. They used pins 1 and 3 to jump speaker level signals between the two cabinets. Never was a fan of that arrangement for the same reason it is confusing to you. Also they must be custom made...won't find them anywhere. Same thing is accomplished with a banana to banana jumper. You would really have to pull the input panel to see how everything is wired.

No documentation to provide but as I recall the Xover in the 480 is at 150Hz. You can go in to the 480 full range and out of the HF out to the LSI input and then out of the LF out to the lower LSI cab. You are stuck with one amp channel, the fixed crossover point and no balancing between the two components. My preference would be an active Xover feeding separate amps for the LSI and 480. Then you get to really dial them in with the best Xover point and relative levels.

I used a couple of Ki-362's in live sound reinforcement (with subs). i loved them and got compliments on them from pals in the business. Trailers with the speakers got stolen long ago and now using some KP-3002's. The 362's were better for wide dispersion (90 degrees horizontal) but the 3002's with their 60 degrees seem better suited to longer throws.

It was an aftermarket. Who knows where the truth lies, but prices were from $149 for Eminence domestically to $20 to wait on delivery from China. Not sure who or where Eminence is manufactured. Diaphragm sounds good to me, but have not done any measurement testing and can't speak to it's durability.

Well the removal of the gaskets/washers did allow the aftermarket to fit nicely. Only modification is that I needed longer screws to attach the binding posts. Thanks for the solution Cant.

I have seven KSM-15 II's that I use in live production....or shall I say used to use before the pandemic I like them but they sure are heavier than most wedges these days. One I bought had replaced the horn driver with an after market driver that was insufficient.. Might want to pull the input panel and take a look at the crossover. It is a pcb board and if used a lot on the road it is not uncommon for there to be cracks in the traces or heavier crossover components may detach and in some cases have been aftermarket strapped down in addition to adhesive. A burned out and/or bypassed poly switch may be an indication.of hard use. But, if everything works, they are a powerful wedge with a somewhat tight pattern (60 degree horizontal).

Thanks guys. Haven't had the opportunity to pop out the bit that Cant suggested to see if it is thicker than a simple thin rubber washer. It would need to be in order to accommodate the after market part. Starting to think that the earlier diaphragm I replaced was an after market and thus the insulating part for the original diaphragm had already been removed allowing my replacement diaphragm to fit right in.

I have four KP-450's that I still use in live production. I am trying to replace the diaphragm in the K-60-M horn driver and have run into a bit of a problem. I have purchased a diaphragm (or two) that indicate they are a match for the driver as well as may other Eminence drivers used in many other speaker brands. I have done this in the past on one of the drivers with much success. However this particular diaphragm that I removed appears to be different and I can't find a match. Very odd that it is different than the previous diaphragm repair. I have attached photos of the removed item as well as the replacement part. There are obvious differences and the new diaphragm does not fit and allow the driver to be sealed again. Antbody got ant insight?
