  1. Wowee............ Biden has the fix for the vaccination troubles. “Retired doctors and more syringes”. Personally I’d rather have retired nurses and more vaccine. Doctors are notoriously bad with injections and needles. Giving a simple ‘shot’ is considered beneath their purposes so they are not seriously trained to give them. Sure there are some who’ll be excellent. If you need a joint injection of a steroid get an orthopedic doctor. Never, ever allow an MD to place an IV line (different than an arterial line) or do venipuncture. You’ll have bruises for months if you do. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-biden-idUSKBN29K0NF
  2. Here’s another article on this subject. In summary it seems possible that a covid19 viral load may occur despite having been vaccinated and that this viral load could allow a vaccinated person that’s been exposed to covid19 to transmit the virus to others. This is worrisome because that (my interpretation) means that a vaccinated community might percolate covid19 in enough volume to imperil everyone when their vaccines abate........ OR......... does it mean that a subacute covid19 viral load itself would impart antibodies resulting in more resistance to the disease?? These are complex problems. Regardless it all seems to be steps in a ‘better’ direction, reducing the severity of covid19 impact. We need that desperately. https://www.thelancet.com/article/S0140-6736(20)31976-0/fulltext
  3. Hmmmm........ I know that older folks respond nicely to transfusions with young blood. Essentially they remove your ‘elderly’ blood and replace it with ‘youngerly’ blood and bingo you feel and are actually better. Perhaps this explains ‘that’ and could derive a treatment aimed at diminishing the effects of aging?? It won’t reverse aging IMHO, just make it more tolerable.
  4. Having a difficult time understanding this article. It contradicts itself and doesn’t offer any basis for its hypothesis. It’s hypothesis sounds implausible, that these vaccines don’t impart antibodies to protect you from covid19 but do somehow stop covid19 ‘symptoms’. This infers that the vaccines treat the disease instead of preventing infections and I’ve not read this anywhere. Most likely it is the source of the article. So many articles I’ve read absolutely slay the topic/subject/event they’re supposed to be informing you about. The authors, their editors and publishers simply do not know enough about the subjects to correctly convey their meanings in a synopsis. This paper implies that MAYBE you could be vaccinated and protected from covid19 but somehow (they do not explain how) still be able to infect others with covid19. Personally I need a clearer explanation because everything I have read about the vaccines indicate the opposite, that once vaccinated that you will not get covid19 if exposed and (therefore) cannot possibly infect others because you do not have the disease.
  5. China continues to impede The WHO trying to investigate covid19 origins around Wuhan. Every effort by many countries to scientifically examine how covid19 jumped from bats to humans has been stopped by China. If there’s nothing to hide then why work so hard to keep it from being examined? As of today there are 2 million dead worldwide from covid19. That’s in just 1 years time and the pace is accelerating. The death toll here in America is not far from the number of Americans killed in world war 2. We have not experienced death on this scale since the 1918 influenza pandemic when we lost 675,000 souls. And modern China is essentially playing games regarding their part of this horrific life changing event. https://arstechnica.com/science/2021/01/china-tosses-more-obstacles-at-who-team-investigating-pandemics-origin/
  6. Again the disconnect between what the feds think will work versus what in reality exists in the real world. We see this often when directives get set at the federal/state level which require strict adherence in the field. For example in all federal grants annual budgets are set and they are strict. The receiving group is expected to spend “X” of $ annually. If they spend less they get penalized. The amount they did not spend is removed from their next years funding allotment. So what happens? Well as the fiscal year comes to a close groups audit their expenditures and go and spend whatever $$$ needed to meet their projected budget. Often they buy stuff they do not need just to meet the criteria. The grant system is not flexible and does not allow for modifications of expenditures. It is a waste. So here we have covid19 vaccinations that come with federal directives dictating precisely how they are to be administered. If they cannot be used as directed they are to be disposed of, wasted. This is another reason why micromanaging is not always a grand idea. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/thousands-covid-19-vaccines-wind-garbage-because-fed-state-guidelines-n1254364
  7. You’re discussing the current efforts by WHO to visit Wuhan. China has tightly controlled access to this region and has refused access for the WHO and others. It will be interesting to see if China allows this current visit to come anywhere near their viral research complex in Wuhan.
  8. Sorry I get frustrated at times.... 😞
  9. The WHO tried to do this last May. China refused.
  10. Wearing a simple face mask and washing your hands and keeping a distance is far from being quarantined. Now maybe where you live they have to shut down because people are too proud or dumb to do the aforementioned. Too bad so sad.... if the simple measure are too tough then the tough measures come next. George Washington kept his army in quarantine to avoid infected cities. Yeah - reverse isolation is not new. It is old. If the sick cannot be isolated then you isolate the healthy away from the sick. Epidemiology, it’s a wonderful subject. You seem quite willing to accept death in seeking to achieve herd immunity. I guess you’d also just stop treating certain demographics as you clearly find being elderly and infirm as unworthy of concern. How about the obese of any age - are they not worth treating? Surely drug addicts and alcoholics would not meet your standards of concern. We would have to draw some lines. We cannot physically take care of the critically sick. There’s too many. Maybe a guy like you would resort to euthanasia, y’know like proactive hospice. And what about covid19 variants. I mean you almost sound intelligent (AKA brain trust) so you must understand that the more people get infected the greater the opportunity for mutations of the virus. Would it matter if covid19 mutated into a variant that killed children and young people at the same rate? I do not know what your acumen is. Let’s say your an accountant. You are educated and have your CPA. Would it be smart for people to hire you to organize their businesses and/or do their taxes.......or would they be smarter to do it by themselves? They’d be stupid to not hire somebody who knows what to do. Same goes for an auto mechanic. So what makes YOU feel that you understand how best to manage medical issues for which you have zero training? Sorry covid19 has impacted your life so badly. Blame it on China. Blame it on the other folks who refuse to do the easy things. Hope you and yours (elders included) all survive.
  11. Long ago I knew a family who took care of their elderly father. Elderly meaning over 100 years. Every day..... every single day he’d get up and dress himself to the 9’s. He wore white spats and bowler hats and was just as dapper as could be. He died in his sleep. Yeah, humans physically wear out as they age. But they also can retain a life’s worth of knowledge and experiences. Each one is a treasure well worth knowing.
  12. The masks are not intended to block viruses. They are intended to baffle exhaled aerosols that carry the viruses in order to keep those aerosols from their maximal expulsion. By the same notion an N95 mask can filter those aerosols and MAY impede the transition of the viruses. This is why they want you to change or clean masks after each use. The things get dirty with stuff you cannot see. Understand that every exhaled breath is 100% humidified at body temperature. It is on this moisture laden air that the viruses ride. They never come out ‘dry’ or singular. Masks are the very best tool available to keep covid19 from spreading. And as a collateral this years influenza has been greatly diminished as well (for a number of reasons). Now the biggest mask faux pas is not covering the nose. Every video you’ll watch of covid19 test sampling shows a deep swabbing of the nasal cavity. That’s done because it is in the mucous membranes in the nose that covid19 usually resides. So not covering the nose is akin to not wearing a mask at all in both transmitting or receiving covid19 viruses. Insofar as the vaccine goes we had better hope that no covid19 variant becomes resistant. Because it it is resistant to the vaccine then it will also be resistant to the existing antibodies in people who already had covid19. In other words a new resistant covid variant is a whole new viral pathogen, one that everyone is susceptible to. The pandemic begins anew with whatever the new virus offers.
  13. The WHO authorized their covid19 investigative team to examine China last May. They were not allowed to do the work until this week. https://www.foxnews.com/health/china-coronavirus-pandemic-flying-blind-azar
  14. It’s not any matter of choosing your equipment. It is a matter of choosing your music/recordings.
  15. K...... If you’re adding new information then you need not quote my statement as the 2 are pertinent but unrelated. That said I do thoroughly understand what the police are doing in this pandemic and the perils they face. They step in front of danger in so many ways and I respect their institutions greatly.
  16. So you’ve interpreted my post as an anti-police comment. You assume incorrectly. It is specific to my situation. What if your local health providers all decided they would not treat covid19 but were 1st to suck up the vaccine? We’ve had mask laws in place here for a long time and people pick and choose how they use them. The police openly and brazenly do not care. They gave press release statements to this affect. They do not care that neighbors get into conflicts or that businesses must choose who will be their customer base. Why? Because the police were too afraid of being the enforcers. They did not want to be perceived as the bad guy. Of course the people who understand the science behind masks think the police are awful and the idiots who people who believe in magic love them. It is hypocritical as hell for them to get vaccinated 1st...... they were and are a huge part of the problem.
  17. An interesting article on lung damage caused by covid19...... https://www.cbsnews.com/news/post-covid-lungs-worse-than-the-worst-smokers-lungs-surgeon-says/?ftag=CNM-00-10aac3a
  18. In my town all the local police and sheriffs openly refused to enforce mask mandate laws. But guess who’s 1st in line for vaccinations as 1st responders?
  19. It was about this time last year when a colleague of mine raised the alarm about covid19. His wife holds multiple degrees and was well connected in the international medical community. She’d become aware of a SARS like illness on the loose in China...... and she was worried. This was before Italy or any known cases outside of China. One year later and this virus is knocking at every door, everywhere. This is how fast and powerful a new infectious disease can be. What we see is how tough they are to contain. And we have witnessed how vulnerable humanity is in mental frailties and physical susceptibility. The spread of covid19 never had anything to do with politics as the virus has invaded neatly and uniformly into all countries. It had to do with personal responsibility and boy howdy did humanity fail (and this continues even now). That’s understandable. Humanity had not dealt with any such disease for a century. It was a century loaded with medical miracles and the populace became reliant on modern medical cures to keep them safe. Humanity had dumbed down about the terrors of infectious disease. So whether it is this ugly Nipah virus or some mutated form of tuberculosis or whatever people must enhance their understanding about truly lethal and uncontrolled pathogens. These are extinction level monsters. We must do much, much, MUCH better next time. And that applies to every country and every individual.
  20. Think covid19 is bad? Look at the Nipah virus - also from bats and found in Asia. https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20210106-nipah-virus-how-bats-could-cause-the-next-pandemic

    Jokes?

Hope it works in the home setting.....😁👍
  22. Conditionally I agree. The media certainly does dig into the ‘klaxon’ stats. But the populace does need to be made aware of how the virus is moving so they can properly prepare/react. That said most of the media gives too few details. I see maps of states with covid19 trends in color codes. Aside from the ‘scare’ factor they are useless. Give me a local map that highlights the areas of high density covid19 concentrations. Give me the age groups in my area that are showing positive covid19 results. Tell me information that will assist me in avoiding places/peoples that have higher infection potential. As I understand it they do not do this to avoid stigmatizing those places and peoples. Screw that. This is a pandemic and we’ve stopped the planet (practically) to manage covid19. If it’s that important then it is important enough to tell me what/whom/where to avoid.
