  1. We’ll keep one at the soldering station to scavenge solder lead fumes. We do not have centralized microfiltration so the 2nd unit will be placed in whatever room we chose. We have a Dyson filtration fan in the bedroom and it makes a huge difference.
  2. https://futurism.com/neoscope/covid-blocking-nasal-spray-works-on-humans-change-course-pandemic Here we go.....
  3. I’d also confiscate harmonicas and nose harps at the front door.
  4. Let’s add our own...... - Snot rockets should be limited to a maximum distance of 6 feet and not aimed at another person or animal. - Turkey sandwiches are prohibited unless made by the person who intends to consume the sandwich.
  5. Generally speaking I agree with your comments 100%. I would add this. Covid19 is a difficult contagion to control. The peculiar character of the covid19 sickness renders it tough to keep a handle on. But the real and only practical goal is not to contain covid19 but to stave it off until we have the vaccines/drugstore to combat the infection. So all of the ‘guidelines’ should be couched with the understanding that they are temporary. If we had no directions on how to slow the pace of covid19 infections our hospital systems would quickly be overwhelmed. So we must keep some ‘lid’ on covid19 until we have the methods/drugs/etc to combat the disease directly.
  6. I ordered these filtration products a while ago and they just shipped. These cost the same as the above mask system but are not at all portable. But they will scrub a smaller room in no time. https://www.amazon.com/Medify-MA-15-Air-Purifier-filter/dp/B089CNT49C/ref=sr_1_7?crid=1TN3YT4ALPXK0&dchild=1&keywords=medify+air+purifier&s=home-garden&sprefix=Medify%2Caps%2C249&sr=1-7
  7. Look forward to your opinion on these. They’re a bit of prevention overkill IMHO but could make wearing a heavy duty mask more tolerable. Be nice to know how durable they are, how long the battery lasts, etc.
  8. We can see light at tunnels end when the positivity rate drops and stays down. Yes, usually it takes a long, long, long time to develop a vaccine. This is where we shine. We did it for Ebola and we’re doing it faster for covid19. Your scientists at work........ let’s give em a huge round of applause. Stop comparing infectious disease to other forms of risks. We have 1/4 million dead (close enough) in 8 months and this happened with some major efforts to contain covid19. Imagine if we had done nothing? It is a true monster. And do not ever forget that covid19 will have long term health consequences..... because it is a true monster...... it leaves scars, internal scars. Covid19 is worse than open warfare...... and ALL people are being asked to do are basic, common sense preventative measures that do not hurt and do not cost a ton of $$. Not hard to understand or conduct. You are a single individual whose conduct affects many. Try not to forget that or screw it up.
  9. Solid state...... Accuphase driving modified Khorns.
  10. IMHO covid19 is currently controversial for reasons that are largely dumb. Worse is that the ‘stupidity’ is a result of covid19 having been politicized. Therefore debates on the topic will hover around the fringes. I do not believe that we need to revisit closed threads. At this juncture we’re going to witness events unfold and that’s on a global scale, not just national. From these Klipsch covid19 threads I made adjustments to my personal response/planning. Instead of expecting my community to act intelligently and cohesively I made plans to self isolate as much as possible. That approach has been accurate and it has been pretty much proven everywhere. As of today 50% of our areas ICU beds hold covid19 victims.
  11. Well if we’re gonna stretch the hypothetical step up to cattle lots and herds of sheep, etc. Fortunately this has not occurred but you’re correct, covid19 could mutate and hammer us all into oblivion. And if not covid19 perhaps the next contagion that gets loose will accomplish our eradication. This is among the perils of living..... animals are vulnerable to diseases..... and meteors.... and tsunamis, etc. Medical science generally works to manage diseases. Sometimes it strives to eliminate a pathogen like polio. Covid19 will now join other known pathogens and all are willing to infect the susceptible, humans or animals. But there will be a covid19 vaccine. If necessary it will be updated. Actually one of the silver linings to this pandemic is that medical science was funded and mandated to deliver a vaccine ASAP. So many new development pathways were undertaken that otherwise would have waited. We now have new tools and methods to build new vaccines/medicines and mass produce them quickly. So because of covid19 we are much better prepared to craft new vaccines and new medications. And from this new baseline other advances will follow. There are millions/billion of known unique viruses and other microbes. Every living thing cohabitates with tons of microbes. Over time science has learned about them and how to deal with them. Right now the toughest job should be the easiest one....;. getting the rest of humanity to listen to what science directs - for humanities own good. If we don’’t listen we suffer the consequences.
  12. Not yet.......... https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/positive-pet.html Minks are an unsavory agri industry in Europe. They are bred and kept to harvest fur. Like any such business huge numbers of these minks are farmed. So the high density caged population is especially susceptible to the spread of any disease. So as has been done with chickens, ducks and other livestock to control the disease infected and exposed animals will be destroyed. Of course pets in homes are kept in an entirely different circumstance and there are isolation guidelines should a pet become covid19 positive.
  13. Looks like this thread got doctored up.........
  14. Yes..... I have massive investments in businesses that’ll profit from common sheep wearing unnecessary masks and looking silly. You got me. Please wear a mask. I need the $$$
  15. If there was a 2000 pound unexploded bomb would you jump in anxious to defuse it? No. You wouldn’t because you know your limits. You do not know how to defuse this massive explosive and you know for certain what might happen if you screw up. You will quickly and happily step away from something lethal you know you can’t manage. You will leave this task to the experts and not ask any questions. Same deal with covid19 only you arrogantly presume to understand how best to manage the disease - actually any disease. You don’t. You are no infectious disease expert. You are no public health expert. I hope you and your family/friends remain covid19 free.....;. cuz despite better and wiser options hoping for the best is all you choose to employ. Good luck.
  16. You can buy zinc supplements and take them like a regular pill and obtain similar results.
  17. It is the magnitude of the risk and the summed contribution required of all the participants. You’re comparing apples to pumpkins by ignoring the fact that vehicles are largely kept under control while this uncaring virus only lives by infecting host organisms. One is inanimate and the other is extremely animate. Sadly, insanely we can conduct our normal lives within some very simple guidelines and it is those simple endeavors people refuse to employ. Because of that they risk everyone’s health and enhance the prospect of shutting down the entire program. In this case a little goes a long way but ‘little’ is too hard for too many to understand. So they’ll screw it up for all of us.
  18. Yup....... already some airports have begun testing everyone passing through their systems. I would hope those testing active for covid19 would be prevented from travel. Imagine if China was able and willing to do this from the beginning.
  19. A vehicle accident impacts those involved. An arsonist can burn out an entire region. Not containing a virus is like the arsonist. Plus you‘re ignoring the long term impact of covid19. Beyond covid19’s lethal immediacy are the health sequelae to follow, and they are looking pretty grim. We’ve put out ‘Manhattan Project’ style efforts for a covid19 vaccine and we can see several on the horizon. Covid19 is a virus nobody wants to get whether they die or not. Knuckle under and do what’s best for your entire community for another 9 months whilst the vaccines are delivered. How hard can that be to understand or execute?
  20. It is amazing the number of folks who feel covid19 is entirely facetious, a conspiracy. Despite modern communications whereby anyone could cross check reported information most seem quite happy to make up their own ‘opinion’ and remain blissfully ignorant. It reminds me of those who feel that the moon landings were faked. Maybe if NASA installed a beacon light on the moon for all to see they’d at least believe that we do go to the moon.
  21. What the maps show now is ‘posivity rate’. This value is dependent upon a population to participate in getting tested. By its nature we know that covid19 is covert in most cases, people will not know if they’re actively infected and will likely not get tested. Posivity rate is a rough number that’s qualitative not quantitative. It is useful but mostly for public health professionals. Sewage covid19 data is independent of population participation. Everyone within a served arena gets tested. The only variable would be how much of that sewage comes from transient groups. In other words testing sewage coming from an international airport would be interesting but not entirely reflective of the indigenous population. So yeah, I think a covid19’ dump-metric would be quicker and more inclusive and therefore a better indices for the spread of this contagion.
  22. I’d like for our systems to start relying on sewage testing to track covid19 infections. This will assess covid19 in any community w/o any need for the population to face-to-face interact with health systems. It may be able to focus high infection neighborhoods allowing them to be targeted for early responses. It would be a ‘whole’ community dynamic assessment of covid19 with a lot less skewing of data. https://news.mit.edu/2020/testing-sewage-for-covid-19-1028
  23. Nope - you said it “distorted” raw data. It does not distort raw data it varies its representation.
  24. Mmmmm .... not in my opinion. Statistics offer the analysis of information and if you grasp the science undertaken you can learn a ton using statistics. They also allow for a common foundation whereby science done anywhere has this common mathematical language to use for determining the useful value of a study, any study. They can point to solution sets that drive additional studies. They have helped give humanity many of its modern comforts and toys. So do not malign statistics. Malign those who misuse them.
  25. Yup...... we had an odd early snow storm. Just cold enough to snow...... so it was wet, heavy and sloppy..... about 6 inches total. Lots of limbs down around town. Anyway it’s all gone now but the eagles remain amongst other feathered friends.
