  1. I thought you were inquiring about the inductors, for some reason. Sorry.
  2. Manually tracing a graph seems rather tedious. Are you sure you can't simply export a text file, then perhaps delete data which is outside the intended range using a text editor (if you can't specify the range limits to export)?
  3. You can use any speaker / system for karaoke. You must simply keep things in perspective and use the equipment within its design limitations. Neither that amp nor those speakers are intended for "public address" to large, noisy crowds. Keep it very reasonable and you should be okay.
  4. From what I've been reading recently (several articles at that Benchmark site) 24/96 is way more than sufficient. The way he presents the information is entirely believable.
  5. What codec are you using for Bluetooth? Last I checked (some time ago) they're all lossy, so you're not getting your "dsd's worth", I'm thinking... Plus, I think dsd64 comes in under 24-bit 96kHz PCM in terms of everything that counts.
  6. In my book, driving 28 hours does not constitute "free!" Nevertheless, hearty congrats!
  7. I can't believe a "speaker wire" thread has lasted this long without my contribution! 14 AWG has always been more than sufficient for me in short-to-medium runs. Any stranded copper zip-cord configuration more that meets the requirements. Spend as much as you're happy doing, but rest assured that overkill is for ego, not result.
  8. On the face of it, I feel saying his second wife having any influence in the matter really amounts to an accusation of pettiness on her part, and I'd seriously doubt that to be the case. The product pre-existed her being a "Missus Paul Klipsch" and my guess is she wouldn't have minded in the least.
  9. Can't help with any of the specific questions, but if the unit is up to snuff, it should better most anything else made since then rated at 100 Watts per channel or so. Congrats. You should be happy with it, I'd think.
  10. I've only got two speakers in my system (Forte III - 75% TV/DVD), but if I felt the need for a center channel speaker I'd have to say it must completely match the sonic presentation of the main units. I surely wouldn't bother with it otherwise. Klipsch (and others) make dedicated center-channel speakers but to my knowledge, only a Heresy IV will match a Heresy IV.
  11. I did floor covering with a good friend for several years. There is a commercial product which is to be glued down and comes in nominally 2-foot squares. It has a rubbery back with short-nap carpet on the upper surface. You've all seen it in hospitals, at least, I'm sure. See if the local floor covering store can't sell you a few remnant pieces. Cut it to shape with a straightedge and utility knife. It's hardly 1/4" thick, and provides the best performance in all respects mentioned above.
  12. Funny, sort of. I'd think they'd say "this (whatever) is the checksum that file should have, if it doesn't, there's your/our problem, if it does, it's your problem, not ours".
  13. This article is coming up on 5 years old now. I believe it's the most recent I've read on the current topic (not necessarily the newest I've read, simply the one I've read closest to "now"). I have insufficient knowledge to either confirm or dispute it, but on its face it "feels right" to me. At any rate, it's an interesting read, and neither requires too much time nor is it too technical.
  14. Without following the links above yet to refresh my memory, I believe DSD ain't PCM but rather something like 1 bit toggled on/off at megaHertz frequency. Sony came up with the notion in the '90s and it devolved into a BETA v. (whatever the other format was) type of format war with both contestants being left in the dust behind bigger / faster PCM words. I think most DACs have the ability to "do" it, if it's been bothered-to-be-implemented.
  15. Haha. Where I live is technically north of the Mason-Dixon line, but I'd wager the populace of the time (none related to me) was closer to being evenly-split on the issues at hand. But I have visited Canada. This'll be enough for me to post in this thread now until/unless I have pertinent content to contribute. My apologies now to the OP.
  16. Are you thinking the inductors will need replacement?
  17. Not me. I ended all I had to say about it with a compliment.
  18. Is there no configuration option to disable the auto-standby feature?
  19. Perhaps you'd care to know I've made a fair amount of money being an electrical technician, bumping hard on the engineering end of things, working with large industrial power conditioning systems. I get by just fine with the power cords that came with my gear, but yours surely do look nice.
  20. Good. That's a sensible-enough approach, but the answer cannot erase the already-presented amusement. Enjoy!
  21. But aren't you in a part of the world where their existence is mandated? Here in the US they're nothing but a nuisance.
  22. True, but in my now-faded-memory experience, the "upwards of 1/2 hour" and "upwards of 300 hours" neither elicit "night and day" differences. The only good thing IMO that tubes provide over silicon is the glowing, pulsating plasma in the output tubes, but that might require some good weed to truly appreciate!
