  1. One thing I forgot to add is these cabinets have K 43 woofers. Is it worth changing to K 33‘s or Crites is woofers?
  2. I’ve been reading many post-in reference to this modification and lots of specs.... bottom line I would like to know what kind of performance can we actually expect, will frequency range drop into the high 20s? .... should I expect distortion in this range? Is performance of 40-100 Hz going to change as current set up it is very pronounced tight add accurate ??. Cheers Don
  3. OK so I have ended up with a pair of LaScalas The type is LSBB and serial number is 22T696/7. Now a couple of oddities at least at first glance these are of coarse a single cabinet design and the base bin interior is finished in black the rest of the cabinet is what appears to be like a Walnut . I took a peek at the woofer and they are Klipsch K 43E woofers Which from everything I read are the commercial offering. Upper drivers are k77 and k55v. I had some K horns for sale and took these in along with cash in on trade and I am actually very surprised at the performance of these. They don’t go quite as low but the bottom end that they do provide is extremely tight punchy and accurate more so than the K horns. In the trade I did keep my Dean crossovers which provides a minus -6DB on the mids which is very pleasing to the ear . I am going to sit on these and listen to them and enjoy them for a bit and even though I have the bug to upgrade and help the bottom end I really don’t have the funds at this time to do so so sitting and listening to them are a great solution at this point. So if anybody could chime in and let me know exactly what I have that would be great. Cheers Don
  4. Beautiful pair of Klipschorns. Circa 1978 some say the best period as far as construction goes. These are upgraded with CT125 tweeters and Dean’s beautiful amazing sounding crossovers.!! Crossovers are set -6db on the mids.....These upgrades made all the difference in the world, you will love these, I certainly have!! Wood is beautiful. Selling due to financial issues. Times have been tough dam it, but they’re just things. $3300 local pick up Phoenix, Az area. Don
  5. Yes I did. I needed to sell one or the other, Primaluna or the Quicksilver. I A/B both amps for over 6 hours a couple nights ago and found the Quicksilver is a pretty sweet unit. I sold it short on the bottom end/bass production when I first got it as I the Khorns and the Quicksilver were both new to me. After setting up the K horns up properly with corner foam treatment and fitting them snug into the corners they were an all together a different beast. SO..with the QS I loose a couple of features ...output for sub, HT bypass and a remote.....but is not a deal breaker. The PL is sold. If I have learned something it is to take ones time in evaluating gear..It is a learning process and you must have PATIENCE!!! Cheers Don
  6. You wont be disappointed....It's an amazing amp and can use 6550, KT88,120 & 150's if you so choose. Best price you'll find. i need to sell this ASAP!! Don 623-889-1327
  7. Selling my amazing Primaluna HP. Excellent condition, no issues whatsoever and have original double box . Super quiet unit and audio quality is amazing, has stock EL34's in it and upgraded primary preamp tubes to Brimar 12AU7 from Upscale Audio...also have original tubes as well....Definately lives up to all the reviews. I rated excellent condition and not mint as there is 1 tiny mark on left edge on it. The only reason I am selling it is I need the cash or I'd keep it forever!. Local pick up is fine in Phoenix, AZ. ...Priced to sell!! $2750.00 OBO. Thanks for looking Don
  8. All original Klipsch AA crossovers work perfect, excellent condition. I upgraded to a set of Dean Wescotts crossovers so no need for the original pair. Also have original pair of Klipschorn K77 tweeters...work perfectly as well, great condition. Crossovers $200 obo K77's $150 obo Cheers Don
  9. SO I'm having the backs enclosed on my 1978 Klipschorns. BTW...I'm adding the enclosure panels to the rear, not to the inside of top and bottom plate so as not to decrease horn volume. Now I've noticed that the new offerings from Klipsch have what appears to be a 3" riser. Was this done to elevate tweeter height to optimize the listeners experience or because.....?????? Tweeter stock, measures 50" from floor which is well above natural tweeter height for most speakers. Assuming there is another reason for the riser, does the riser have an affect on bass production? Riser should be pretty easy to make up just not sure if this is a mod that I should move forward with. Cheers Don
  10. Considering a sub to fill in the BOTTOM end. My concern is will I have an issue with signal overlap with a long bass horn on the K-horn and virtually a straight short signal from a subwoofer? Any suggestion on make and model of sub that works best with Khorns? Cheers Don
  11. Wondering who out there has this set up, the regular or the HP. I have this combo and am curious what others have experienced sonically. What tubes are you running, how are your highs, how are your mids and hows the bottom end. I will with-hold my comments until after we have some feedback so I dont influence one way or another. Cheers Don
  12. WITHDRAWN....For sale Quicksilver Integrated amp. Mint condition, very clean and sexy to look at, very low hours and It's made right here in the U.S.A. Sonically, a very well balanced sound, sweet sweet midrange with extended highs and plenty of bass. I normally would not consider selling this but have an opportunity to buy back my Primaluna that I sold a few months back. I have the original box, and all paperwork that came with it new. Please feel free to message me here or call me at 623-889-1327. $1500 obo Cheers Don
  13. Yes I did. Long story short right after I got the QS the guy I sold my Primaluna Integrated HP to 4 months ago when I needed money for an emergency asked me if I wanted it back as he has developed a serious hearing issue with one of his ears and his audiophile days are over according to him..Being I almost gave that amp away when I sold it to him I'd be a fool not to ****** it back.>SO the QS is going up for sale. The QS sounds great, no issues at all. Well balanced all around...the midrange is SWEET!!! Cheers Don
  14. Some really interesting info from your responses...Thank you. For now I decided to go with Quicksilver. I found a QS Integrated like new on USAudio and decided to try it out. I have heard nothing but rave reviews and not a bad word anywhere regarding QS, the man that owns it and the Integrated amp. It puts out 20wpc so I'm definitely covered in those moments where I want to rock hard!! I'm very anxious to give the Integrated a spin as I have never had an amp with EL84's though I have been told to expect a sweet midrange with plenty bottom end and smooth highs. By the way...after waiting what seems like 6 months, LOL... I finally picked up my Klipschorns last night. To say the least I am elated. They are almost like new and sound amazing. I get the QS Integrated on Monday and will hook her up and I think I am going to listen to music for the next few months before I consider a new crossover from Dean and upgrading to mid driver to 55G and tweeter to 120. Cheers all!!! Don
  15. Don't know much about circuits but he runs 8 EL84's, 4 per side and with however he puts it together Im told it is a solid 20wpc. CheersDon
