  1. What you got for $150 or less with XLR, gain control and mono bridgeable (no fan on the D-75s)? We don't need more power for our heritage stuff...
  2. Here's some background/history: https://www.kenrockwell.com/audio/crown/d-75.htm
  3. Yes, Scott may be interested in reading about the D-45, the D-75's little brother, and the tweaks made to transform it into "the Duke" ( @Marvel ) :
  4. I have several D-75s. I bought them for less than $150. each. I have used them with khorns and lascalas...I don't think there is anything better for the price for heritage; dead silent, XLR inputs and gain control...perfect for bi-amping. Yes my expensive tube stuff sounds better.
  5. If you think it is appropriate, maybe you can post a pic here when you get it, just for archive sake. I missed it in the CL link.
  6. Not understanding your situation, can't you improvise a pair of jumpers? If you aren't going to bi-amp, you will need the jumpers?
  7. The best advice seems to be sure the crossovers are up to spec. @Deang on the forum has a factory approved service that rebuilds them properly. You may want to reach out to him (may take a few more posts to open your account to PM capability)....
  8. Please type some key words in the search tool on the forum or use the google (aka "Klipschorn restoration" LOL); LOTs out there, just saying. Also, I think these guys do some great work and some really good step by step details on multiple "complete" restorations that should give you some ideas. http://www.klipschupgrades.com/mkhorn.shtml I should mention, despite the urge to "upgrade" the drivers, electronics, etc, many on this prefer the take them back to "stock" approach in order to fully appreciate Paul Klipsch's genius in the original design and signature sound. You may want to post some pics of your speakers and start a restoration thread yourself so the experts can weigh in in real time.
  9. Dr. Anwar Bose, MIT educated audio engineer...based his design on proportional reflected vs. direct sound waves. I visited the Bose headquarters in Massachusetts with an engineer friend of mine back in the late 70's. All I remember is they had one huge, amazing anechoic test chamber.
  10. suggest you post a link to the CL ad or just post pics and price here...if still available
  11. You may want to post a "WTB" in the garage sale section (after deciding which model you are looking for)...lots of us have spares we would let go reasonably to a forum member...
  12. $2,500. to $3,000. for the pair. Best guess; I have a '54 and a '56. Advertise here in the garage sale section.
  13. If you are adventurous, you may want to remove the side door on the large cabinets and check to see which woofer is in there...this vintage had some interesting ones like the Jensen K-33J
  14. He may have noticed the shipping error...$24 shipping to continental US
  15. No problem...many early Khorns were sold for mono use and later another one added for stereo...cabinets would have the same construction and with identical drivers, Bob's your Uncle. Also recommended; get a good pair of new or rebuilt factory xovers from @Deang.
  16. With your budget, suggest you keep an eye out for good used VPI and Clearaudio TTs... This site has good general info on all things TT: https://www.vinylengine.com/
  17. tweeters have been upgraded...
  18. Nice table. Do you have a cartridge in mind? MM or MC? Tonearm/cartridge matching makes a big difference in my experience. Also, if you haven't visited this site, you may want to for additional info (all things TT): https://www.vinylengine.com/
