  1. Seattle CL has deals this week.. https://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/ele/d/rainier-klipsch-lascala/7526454874.html
  2. He says they look better in person... https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/ele/d/kenmore-klipsch-cornwall-pair-rare/7526404636.html
  3. I'll get back to you on that, it might be a few months...I was looking for a decent used surge protector and couldn't resist this deal...probably way overkill. Hey, @captainbeefheart left you a PM.
  4. I think I am good to go with this one...$300. on local CL
  5. Interested in which THTLPs you went with? Can post a picture of them?..I am thinking about building some for my LaScalas
  6. We have so many tube gurus on this forum (not me)...someone will chime in
  7. Lot's of posts lately about inexpensive (cheap) forum amps and the 6BQ5 or EL84 tubes in triode mode (a la Decware Zen) Here's a write up on simple construction for beginners: https://audioxpress.com/article/a-beginner-6bq5-se-amp Any comments?
  8. The "A" version has a combination balanced XLR/1/4" jack inputs. I've used rca to phono jack cables without issues on the "A" (I don't believe they were balanced, others may chime in) Some of the later A versions were made in China, USA models preferred The older one has different speaker connections (banana plug/twist on post vs. simple screws) ...and the older version has a mono/stereo switch on the back which was moved inside in the A versions (which necessitated taking the cover off to change switch settings to enable bridged mono) here's more: https://kenrockwell.com/audio/crown/d-75.htm
  9. If you haven't read them yet...lot's of posts with forum mystery and intrigue about a little modified D-45 nicknamed "The Duke" owned and passed on by several members (not sure it's current whereabouts) I find them very entertaining, Here's one:
  10. Lots of love for the early B&K ST140 out there...I have not heard one...I am using vintage Luxman and Superphon separates in my second system
  11. While you're searching for the high end classic SS amp, swap in an inexpensive Crown D-45 or D-75 (regular or "A" versions)...they are bulletproof, quiet, cheap and have XLR connections for good grounding...good enough for many studios in the day. I have tried on Khorns and LaScalas with good results.
  12. Fond memories of punch cards, Fortran IV and DEC PDP 11s....NOT
  13. Price is in the link: $1,999...a bargain IMO
  14. 62 years on the marriage..."good on ya" for having some fun with this while paying it forward (and providing us with some fun!)
  15. IMO, They'll go quick at $1,200. (maybe $1,500 to the right buyer) Factory full grills on the LaScalas were kinda rare. What's your location? Post them here in the garage sale section for sure!
  16. Just throwing this out there to see if anyone has just the khorn tophat cabinet available (maybe someone who replaced the midrange or went two way). Looking for model that incorporated the K-400/401. I have the baffle/grill and the horn/drivers. Willing to pay a reasonable price + shipping for the right unit ("B" collar style, oiled walnut preferred but not essential) I know I could build one. I prefer OE if I can find it. Please send me a PM to discuss.
  17. Only thing better would be to win the lottery...
  18. https://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/ele/d/rainier-klipsch-klipschorns/7510053585.html seems like a good deal
  19. Thanks for asking. Ideally I'd like to replicate the period correct upgrade baffle for my '57. If anyone has one for sale (Or pics) that would be great! Otherwise any input on modifications required to use a new grill/baffle would be very helpful. I believe I saw a thread a few years ago, but I can't seem to find it now.
