1. Hello, Here are the speakers that I am currently using: RF7 Mains(2) RC7 Center RS7 Surrounds(2) Boston Acoustic PV-800 Sub and the speaker that needs replacing/upgrading still: Acoustic Research AR2 (used as my rear or back speaker directly behind) My question is, I am really looking for something in the Klipsch family that will be able to replace the AR and will blend in well with the R7 series. I was told by a few folks to stay away from getting another RS-7 as my choice for the rear. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Any help is very much appreciated. Steve
2. Thanks guys. I will try these suggestions and see if I have any luck. Boston Acoustic's is in the process of sending me a ground that will go from the other RCA input, into one of the negative banana speaker terminals. If you guys are interested in a pic, email me, I'll send it over. Steve PS. Thanks again
3. Hey HornEd, Not to change the topic too much, but I will be starting to look into a TV in the next few months to finish off my HT. My 27" WEGA is nice, but the sound is way much for that small of a set. I saw you mention 65" and that is funny, that is precisely what I have been looking at. I saw a few Mitsubishi and Panasonic models that I liked, but I was curious what you had. I am looking for a 16:9 set obviously with HDTV. Any suggestions? I hear the old 9" CRT's are clearer than the 7". Other than that, and inputs, I am not sure what else to look for. Any help is appreciated. Steve
4. Hey boa, Haven't gotten the surround (rear) center yet. Still using my old Kenwood tower (JL-840). It performs well for now, but I am looking into another RC-7 as many have suggested. My problem with the RC-7 would be mounting the sucker. That's one heavy and awkward speaker to mount. Any suggestions if I go that route? Steve PS. Now I have issues with my new Boston Acoustics PV-800 sub as it is emitting a humming upon purchase. Their techies wont reply. I'll give them another day or two before going with a RSW from Klipsch
5. FWIW, I prefer DTS-ES discrete much more than THX any day of the week. I got to hear some THX stuff at a Tweeter down my way, and DTS blows it out of the water. IMHO, this coming from an amateur audio junkie, they are both virtually the same damn thing. Just another version of surround sound, the whole reason we are each here on this forum. Everyone has their own preference, mine happens to be with the DTS. THX is marketed so heavily in the sci-fi genre it seems. Not all HTS and audiophiles are in this fan club though. If DTS were smart, they'd start doing some of the higher money makers in DTS format (ala Spiderman, etc). They did well with Titanic, T2, etc, and I see no reason for them to stray from the THX hype. Should be a good fight. Ding Ding.... Steve
6. Greetings, Well, I started a long thread with my last question, I am hoping I can spur the same discussion with this. I recently upgraded my powered sub from a Boston Acoustic PV-600 to a PV-800. Specs here- PV-600 PV-800 I had no problems with the old sub (PV-600) other than it didn't quite fill my room enough. Now when I got the PV-800, this thing emits a humming sound which only increases when I turn the dial on the sub itself to a higher output level. I emailed the company but no response yet. I checked all my connections, everything is ok. My line to the sub is a single AP-053 made by Acoustic Research, if that makes a difference. I am looking for any input as to what may be causing this problem, info from people that have had similair problems, and possible solutions to the humming. This sound is all I hear now that I know it is there. Very annoying. Frustrated in Philly, Steve
7. hi, i just got my klipsch ref 7 series and never dealt with bi-wiring. the pairs on the back of the speaker are labeled "LF" and "HF". does it matter which i connect to as long as the gold plated clips are on there connecting the other? thanks steve
8. hey skonopa, how do you like the RC7 as a rear center? i have the same setup as you, but have an old Kenwood tower filling in as that role for now. how in the heck did you get that sucker mounted on the wall?? steve
9. Wow, great speech HornEd!!! I could hear the sound of Pomp and Circumstance faintly playing in the background as I read through, very moving!! :-) Now another question. I sent back the 3rd RS-7 that I was going to use for the surround center (actually found someone that paid more for it than the MSRP). My setup is now RF-7 mains, RC-7 center, 2 RS-7 surrounds, and a Kenwood JL840 tower to fill in as my surround center for the time being. My room is approx 14' by 21' with my TV being along the longer wall as I stated in an earlier post. Perhaps not the ideal setup, but based on architectural concerns, the most logical. I've heard folks tell me trash the RS-7s and get 3 RC-7s for my surrounds. I've had folks tell me get 4 RS-7's, 2 for surround, 2 for surround center. I've been told keep my Towers (Kenwoods old) for surrounds. I've been told to throw all my Klipsch out and get Vienna's. I've been told alot of different things. I know it's all personal preference really, but guys, I am not sure now what I should do here?? I am keeping the RF-7 mains, RC-7 front center, and the 2 RS-7 surrounds. That much I know. What should I get as a surround center now to compliment this setup? My receiver, not the best, decodes DTS-ES6.1, DTS, 5.1 DD, prologic. I need a few more pieces of advice to confuse me a bit more, please ;-) Thanks for all your time guys and gals. Your help really is appreciated very much. Sincerely, Steven B My setup: Sony WEGA 27" TV (soon to be a 65" HDTV) Sony DVP-NS700P DVD player Pioneer VSX-810S receiver Klipsch RF-7 mains Klipsch RC-7 center Klipsch RS-7 surrounds (l and r) Kenwood JL840 surround center Boston Acoustic PV-800 subwoofer
10. Hi, I just bought the Klipsch RC-7 (center), Klipsch RF-7 (pair mains), and 3 of the Klipsch RS-7 surrounds (the odd one for the rear center of my 6.1 setup). I am going from tower surrounds to these and I am not quite sure where to place these new dipoles. My room is 21' x 14' approx. My TV is along the longer wall with the 'sweet spot' almost smack in the middle (slightly closer to the back of the room). Should I place the RS-7's in the corners or to my side? How high should I place them in relation to the ground? Should I keep my rear center RS-7 at the same height as the other two surrounds? Thanks in advance, Steve
