  1. Tesla Roadster isnt out yet, then we'll see who has bragging rights. It shouldn't be lost on anyone that these are daily drivers/transportation. As such, Porsche is FAR behind Tesla in real world experience w electric vehicles, programming and efficiency, and charger networks. In addition the range isnt close to even the cheapest Tesla.
  2. love my AL5s.....keepers fer shure....articulate, sensitive, lively....beats everything I had before-including Focals and B&Ws....
  3. he did end the article saying anyone with a taste for realistic playback owes them a listen....doesnt sound bad to me. I dont think he necessarily listened to them in an ideal environment, and just maybe he had an axe to grind having been denied the chance years before to review the prior version...but it's a generally favorable review...
  4. damn that sucks.....thought about the Marantz as well, but the Yamaha had really good DACs and features
  5. The current set up-Acurus A2007, Yamaha CX-A5200, Zu Audio cube center, La Scala AL5 fronts, Sonance VP80s x4 in ceiling surround (14 ft floor-ceiling windows-wall mount not feasible) Rhythmic SW. Just replaced an Onkyo TX-RZ800, which I thought sounded good, but dayum what a difference...WOW
  6. nice...you made the most of the available space...
  7. Monoprice amps look good-built in US as well. They claim no current limiting and true rated per channel output. Would obviously need a processor...
  8. I hear a lot about timbre matching and frankly to my ear its a nonissue. I have LaScala AL5 fronts, a Zu Audio cube center (highly sensitive, very musical) and Sonance VP80s in ceiling-sounds great to me. Had to use ceiling for surround due to 14ft floor-ceiling windows on 2 walls.
  9. sounds like what I've got....H3's in bedroom, LaScala AL5s in den as part of HT system...you'll love the LSs, awesome dynamics...congrats
  10. RZ series is better...even Onkyo points that out on website....I love my TX-RZ800....drives my La Scalas beautifully...
  11. I listen to music in 3.1...I like my center channel (Zu Audio cube)...its high sensitivity matches the La Scalas well, and I get a wall 'o sound, kinda like PWK intended w a center Heresy and 2 Khorns....the La Scalas also do HT duty in a 7.1 system...
  12. no difference in my case...La Scala AL5s do both HT duty and music...I listen to music often in 3.1 configuration though...
  13. I frequently set my Onkyo to 3.1 for music-using La Scala AL5 L&R and Zu audio cube center + SW. Sounds good to me, esp. w jazz....The speakers are o/w part of a 7.1 theater system.
  14. beautiful cabinet work, and those wood horns...wow. well done....
  15. I was amazed that I received no pushback on these-I actually ordered them without telling her first. She's used to me changing components ("you said the last speakers were awesome though"). Its an expensive hobby to be sure, but its fun to hear different components. That said these are keepers- the La Scalas do everything I want in a speaker in a lively, "present" revealing way even at modest volume. The only thing I might change later is the receiver, but its working well, and updates itself by Ethernet so no issue at present. The last speakers were Focal Aria 948s- nothing intrinsically wrong with them, but the La Scalas just sound better to my ears- love dem horns. Besides the La Scalas have that cool retro feel to them....
  16. well the tweeter is better w new x-over and internal wiring.....as to WAF-mine was totally cool...and make no mistake these things are BIG.....but the veneer is beautiful which helps with WAF....
  17. just bought La Scala AL5s...in a word-AMAZING. I listen mostly to jazz, w occasional Rock thrown in, and they are part of a 7.1 HT system when needed (2 channel when listening to music). They are revealing, efficient (wont overwork your amp), beautiful. I have a room w 14 ft ceilings and these things will easily fill virtually any living space. Go get 'em
  18. excellent...congrats...I'm gonna give the job 3 more years than gonna go part time/contract which allows me to work when I want.....more time to enjoy my new LaScala AL5s!!!
  19. I have Onkyo in both my systems-great functionality, clean sound, and bullet proof reliable....I've had others including Sony (never again) and Denon (which I had no problems with)
  20. Just got my AL5s from Music Direct for 10K.....sound and look beautiful.....
  21. love me some Heresys....got them in the bedroom system. great for near field listening-I listen mostly to jazz. work well w movies as well-punchy and articulate. congrats....
  22. I have 8" Sonance 2 ways (VP-80) in ceiling in a 7.1 system. They sound quite good-have been very pleased. I haven't heard Klipsch architectural speakers-my dealer didnt carry them, but they look to be at least equal. Have La Scala AL-5's in front and a Zu Audio cube center.
