Somebody very BIG sent a text out congratulating the state of Kansas and its residents for the superbowl win last night. He soon deleted it. But many captured it in screen shots Can I get a map and a Sharpie please?
  2. Congrats on the new to you K horns and welcome to the forum.

Not true, not even close. Do you actually look up this stuff before you just spit it out? Brady contract: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/tom-brady-4619/ Garoppolo contract: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/jimmy-garoppolo-14472/
  4. No doubt John, there is a wall 10 foot away from the speaker motorboard (I just measured) and a really large bean bag chair occupying the room. Its a spare BR so its easy to close the door and reap the acoustic benefits. I took those measurements above @ ~ 1.5 meters, and the test signals @ 75 db (black line in charts above). I was trying to minimize room/furnishings reflections, but I'm sure they still are there, play a part in the results.
  5. And with the SVS sub added. Imagine a $180 (factory B stock, and home made speaker stands) pair of bookshelf speakers with the sub, reproducing down to 22hz with authority. Total speaker + sub cost.....$580. Sealed cab speakers (port plugged) and sealed cab sub I might add. Need some EQ to fix that pesky 50 hz peak These Elacs sound really good by themselves, this is my second pair purchased. First pair @ my desktop pc. I apologize my graphs are not as pretty and well detailed as some here. This was my first couple days with the REW software and clearly i need to learn more about capturing graph data/display better. Simple but accurate.
  6. double post, my bad. Well then, lets insert the graphs. Bottom graph is BR port plugged, same speaker:
  7. I just performed this test a couple weeks ago with my Elac 6.2 bookshelf bass reflex speakers, multiple tests with REW and my new miniDSP umik, in both "sealed mode (port plugged using a piece of tight fitting foam)" and stock as designed and delivered BR cab. The effect in this case was a loss approx 10hz extension starting @ 50 hz with my speakers. And a loss of db @ 45 hz. Nothing like what you state above. I ran these tests out of curiosity, as i went on to add a sealed sub to the mix, and more tests. Most of the end effect in my case was a loss/reduction of output starting @ 48 hz and below. I can post the response graphs if you need visual proof. Nothing happened like you depict above. Use some common sense. Both the Her III and IV use the same LF transducer, the K-28-E. The end effect of porting the new IV cab was ~ 10hz lower bass extension, from 58 to ~ 48hz, Klipsch published data. I seriously doubt if you were to put a foam plug in the rear port of a IV, you would lose bass output < 100hz as you declare. Sure didn't work that way in the multiple tests I conducted on my Elac bookshelf speakers. If somebody wants to send me a Her III and IV, I would be happy to perform similar testing and return them. Have you ever actually tried this experiment yourself, sealed vs bass reflex -same speaker, conducted precise frequency response testing?

Blew a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter. Could not effectively move the ball last two possessions......the better team won. Was an entertaining superbowl game for sure.

Two attention demanding s**ts. Did you know superbowl halftime performers receive zero compensation? The Who was way better imo! Or U2! 0-0 halftime. The game is on now.

I'm still with San Fran straight up.
  15. @mopar dave Really nice looking Dave. I wouldn't mind those sitting in my LR. I bet they will sound really good; even more pleasing knowing you built them.
  16. No direct response.......ok then. I did say respectfully in my opening. I guess no direct response is a response. So be it.
  17. Respectfully, I just don't agree with this. Sometimes all this theory is superseded by actual experiences. I had to move my SVS DR sealed sub to a corner behind a chair because my new cornwalls are pretty wide (space limitations). My sub is crossed @ 40 hz. I can tell where that sub is all day, its location when reproducing sound. It's performance was much better in the front corner projecting diagonally into the room with the narrower RP-280 front mains. More proof.......how many users advocate a pair of subs versus a single in some scenarios? If the unit output volume is sufficient and clean, why would anybody need two subs in their room if Chris's theory above is true?
  18. Pictures can be deceptive Heavy is too nice.......more like obese porker.
  19. Congrats on the 14 lbs lost. I'm in the same boat, 6' and fatter than I ever have been. 269 on the scale this morning. I understand the equation "move more eat less" but its hard to implement, least for me. I like food and we have so much good food down here. While i was in the bar ( a very rare occasion for me) yesterday at the lakefront, a guy who has been making hoghead cheese for 40 years was there so we had a brunch of hoghead, crackers, pickled veggies (peppers, onions, squash, cucumbers) and beer. It was very tasty. I have to make adjustments. Pushing that non-propelled mower around come March/April is waiting for me. More exercise and eat healthier; eat to live and not the other way around.
  20. Lost in Space.........the re-boot.
  21. He is weak and cannot control it. I quit smoking cigars and cigarettes cold turkey Feb 2007 after some 35 years. One of the best things I have ever done in my life. Just yesterday I visited a lounge where a neighbor works in Mandeville on the scenic shore of Lake Ponchartrain. The doors were wide open as it was a pleasant day. Half of the people in there were smoking. It irritated the hell out of me and I doubt I shall return. I was surprised you can smoke in a lounge in LA today, its banned in restaurants state wide. Bars and lounges depend on local laws least in LA.
