Why not put something more grippy on top of the stand. This way nothing permanent will happen to your speakers. No personal experience but what I would try first.

If you get the C2's for a good price, do it. I bought mine just before the plague. I looked for a set for over a year and I'm glad I did. I had to get them shipped but still ended up well ahead of what they seem to go for now. BTW, deang re-did my caps but said the old ones were all within spec. I had gotten the parts already. Enjoy them!
