  1. Thors, I think your on right track by going on line to get a pair of RF-7's.You'll really get alot of quailty sound and will cherish your investment for many years. As a caviot; they reproduce their signal very well and will unvail any deficencies of amps/sound sources/interconnects etc. Dan
  2. I believe the primary change was to go with Monsterwire internally.Prabably no real tonal difference! Dan
  3. Wow Scott that is a real challenging space. If you're not all hung-up on THX Ultra2 spec I think you'd be happier with placement #1, that way the rear surrounds wouldn't be right near your head(too close)If they are intended to only be active during movies you could manually adjust them to what ever sound level your confortable with and have them in the #2 position.I listen to alot of music(in large room)and enjoy the 7 chanel stereo mode, high levels of sound pressure that close(#2) is probably unhealthy!
  4. mrt, I predict a verrry happy new year for you. Can you picture the RB-5's as rear surrounds and some RF-7's in front?
  5. Well Spin no video upconversion on the 47, how that affects you will depend on your display inputs and source outputs, for me no problem. It's a pretty intelligent reciever- real easy to get up and running good, so you'll be smiling sooner! I've enjoyed trouble free performance and still marvel at how well it makes my Klipsch perform.
  6. The WDST benifits of the RS series may not be the best choice for rear surrounds in a narrow application. From what I understand alot of rear surrounds are relatively close together and a more directional speaker/s are more appropriate.
  7. Is your sub dead while playing all sources or just dvd?
  8. Moon, I maybe missing something here.If you want to know the effect of no rear clearance- move you RF-7's against the wall now and listen, then move them out and sit in your sweet spot and listen. Know I like more than 12" space behind mine... better low end in 2-channel. Why would you even want to hide these beauties? They sure look purty with grills off, their veneer shining, diaphrams pulsing, filing your soul with sweet music- even when your eyes are closed!
  9. Pretty sure it could be found online for less than $2400
  10. I agree w/Artto. The bedroom shape and size will leave you unhappy w/HT.Think existing room could be a nice HT.How high is ceiling?
  11. You probably don't want to wall mount your speaker- there are 2 ports on the back. Home Depot has wall mounts for t.v's rated to 100 lbs. It's what I use for my RC-7. Got mine in black- matches t.v.The mount swivels, and tilts up or down.Has neat lip on front.Matches the depth of my set so speaker has plenty of room to reflect off rear wall and matchup with front of screen. I like the swivel aspect because it is easier to dust speaker, back of set.Cost about $50.
  12. ZD, checked the basic schematic on my VSX-47TX, pretty similar to the 49TX, shows 4 power amps one each for fronts, center, surrounds, surround backs. When driven at moderate levels my reciever generates alot of heat, believe manual recommends 9+ inches headroom above. Dan
  13. Real graphic depiction of war...not for faint of heart or those of tender years. Sound rocks
  14. m00n, The Sound & Vision review ref'd by Keith maybe the one featured in the May 02 issue. How you mounting the rear RC-7?
  15. Hi Femtochemistry, low frequency high frequency Shouldn't matter if strap/wire is inplace- provided not bi-wiring. Just be carefull no errant wires are touching opposte posts Enjoy!
  16. Hi Ugly, I've been using the 47TX with my full RS-7 HT. My room is 14'x 28' w/8' ceiling. Reciever has so much top end I rarely exceed 1/2 volume. Has a mic for calibration built into its' very versitile remote. The onscreen set-up and automatic calibration features are easy to use. Lots of good features, I'm happy with the way it takes mono and stereo sources and converts to 5 or 6/7 channel play. Rated @ 130x7 @ 8 ohms. The 49TX has more inputs on the back and an enhanced decoding circut (I think). For the price I believed it to be one of most advanced HT reciver at the time of my purchase(4/02)Went for the 47TX because of value and features and performance. I'm really happy with it. Dan
  17. Hi Scott, I'm running a VSX-47TX with my RS-7 HT.Lots of great features, sounds really smooth with more than enough punch for my 14x24 room. Recall seeing a 47TX on ebay this week from return.com(?) for like $900- a total steal! I've admired Pioneer Elite equipment for a long time and have been very happy. Some friends have been using Elite equipment for years trouble free. Dan
  18. The address on my invoice: 3871 Valley View Bl #37 Las Vegas, Nv.89103. 702-254-4367. Don't know if it"s a physical site or just a mail box.My RC-7 and RS-7's came in factory sealed boxes.Arrived in perfect condition.
  19. Hey Luchman, Got my RF-7's from them. I'm a happy camper.Saved soo much$$$.ordered Cherry so took about an extra 10 days. Tooh time to rebox mains ( sepperated grills and double boxed speakers)Their shipping company wasn't the bomb, but got em here o.k. Deal directly with owner and very responsive
  20. Thanks for the leads Doug on other sites, lot's of new info! Malcolm- thanks, didn't think run of the mill dimmer would be appropriate in this application. Dan
  21. Looking for recommendations for i/r controlled dimmer swirch for my H-T low-voltage track lighting.Ceiling mounted transformer, wired into ceiling house feed. Will standard current dimmer work in this application? Do I need a low-voltage compatable unit? Thanks!
  22. Keith- don't think RC's have keyhole mounts- probably thinking RS's. Krusty,If I were thinking along your line might try to locate pair of wall joists and install 2 pair of eye-screws and install 4 piano wires into a shelf that would match speaker veneer.Would be able to angle downward and place away from rear wall to utilise rear ports on speaker. Placing on radiator would probably shorten life of speaker due to heat, pesent problems with speaker wire near hot metal. Good luck! 23. Not the scholar that HornEd is- no nearly the worldly wisdom. Just wanted noted that this was a Circut Court decission that still has to stand the test before the Supreme Court. Sure seems the ACLU takes on causes that only repressent the most insignifigant or extreme left positions which force the overwhelming majority to comply with laws that are in opposition to their basic moral beliefs. Especially since the events of 9-11- which has brought about a groundswell of renewed nationalism, I've been sharing more moments of American pride- revelling at ball games during the Nation Anthem, experiencing the triumphs and trajedies of our various rescueworkers, our soldiers putting their lives in peril on foreign shores. If saying "God" offends someone- no problem, here in America you're free to be silent.
  24. Can testify to quality of Pioneer Recievers, been one in my family for 30 + years without a problem. Remember crankin it up when we were kids too. Got myself a vsx-47 tx when I jumped back into sound this year. Have some friends who use Pioneer products and they seem very satisfied. Dan
