But I would expect some feedback by now, what are they doing?  What's the down-select? What tube or tubes are planned? What's the date of first issue?  What's the cost?

Not that the web is a great place to gather information, but there is some anecdotal posting on Hoffman's forum that WE has some 6SN7s out for beta testing.

I agree with your comment re: pricing. EAT was getting several hundred dollars per signal tube recently and about $800 for a KT88.

At least the post seems to have a new WE amp release correct.

  2. Another pair of Monster Z Series speaker cables as thick as your thumb. These 10’ bi-wire cables are just over 1/2" thick. A person knowledgable with Monster advised these are likely the Z2 version. They are in good shape with no electrical or mechanical issues. There is a cosmetic issue wherein the exterior braid has pulled out of the cable end, exposing the inner workings; please see photo 3. The plus side is you see the copper cables are not corroded internally.  Another plus is it is on the amp end, so less likely to be seen. This pair has Monster interchangeable connection termination. Currently it is set up all banana tips with one spare included. Various tips show up regularly on eBay. Interestingly, with no tips screwed in, the pins work well with vintage plastic push connections due to the notch in the pin ends. Whether they live up the Monster’s marketing is debatable, but they are decent cables and will certainly impress your non-audiophile friends. While not cheap at my asking price, in today’s inflationary marketplace notwithstanding zipcord, they are not overly expensive IMHO.

    $100 with shipping included.

    Please email any questions. Thanks.

    But they are both digital.

Yeah; they couldn't figure out how to send a turntable with each paper...

We recorded these samples in front of Jonathan Weiss’s $363,000 Oswalds Mill Audio (OMA) speakers in his Brooklyn showroom, using a binaural mic and a stereo mic at 32bit_192kHz. The digital file was streamed through an iFi nano iOne home DAC, which has a Bluetooth codec maxing out at 16bit_48kHz. The audio files have been matched post-production to have the same loudness. (Of course, nothing sounds quite like being there.)

  4. Monster Interlink 400 Mk. 2 Cable 2 meters; clean with no issues. What can these do for your system?  Just look at what Monster says:

Interlink 400 MkII (I400 MKII) features bandwidth-balanced dual solid-core center conductor design for smooth, balanced reproduction of dialog, effects, and music soundtracks. Patented time-correct windings accurately transfer both highs and lows with improved clarity and definition. And Monster's innovative PEX dielectric ensures faster, more accurate signal transfer, even over long runs.

With I400 MkII, bass notes are deep and tight. Transients are faster, revealing greater detail, whether it's a light cymbal tap on your favorite CD or the tinkling of glass in a movie. Imaging is precise, with tremendous depth and the incredible accuracy of soundstage. And I400 MkII's improved phase response delivers a smoothness and feel that's so natural you'll marvel at just how good your system sounds.

On the other hand, they’ll likely connect two components in your system with somewhat better cabling than OEM.

But if you buy today, I’ll add a 1 meter no-name cable designed to look like Monster Leitz cable at no extra charge!

How can you go wrong getting both cables shipped to the lower 48 for $20 cash or PP Friend & Family? Or buy anything else I have listed and you’ll find these at the bottom of the box.

...reason many do not post is you guys can be a rough bunch at times. Sorry but that is the way I see it.

That's way too kind. How about rude, crass, pompous and most of all, condescending?

Opinion noted Zen. I happen to like what Roy has done here lately. Put this forum back on what Klipsch wants it to be. I

BTW; is it just me being non-observant or have the descriptions of the sub-forums been updated to reflect Klipsch products? Most now are labelled talking about "our" or "Klipsch" products.

Fwiw, I would  think the next thing on the chopping block is talking about non-Klipsch subwoofers! ☠

No; the Garage Sale. At least that's what PS Audio did when they revamped their forum. But you are on the right track; its is a Klipsch Forum after all.

If that were mine I would not sell it. Or at least it would be one of the last things I would sell. Decent price for the quality you would be getting guys.

Thanks. I think its a great value as well since it also has a MM phono stage. New tubes and gone through by a pro with eight new Hexfreds installed. The adjustable gain is perfect for LS2s; Ive been running it on the 18dB gain setting with no noise. I think you could dial it down to 14 with even better results.

  9. Roger A. Modjeski’s design challenge in creating the RM-5 was simple: "to provide excellent sonic performance at a price that represents a great value to the audiophile."  And this goal was met as the preamp earned a Class B recommendation in Stereophile (Volume 13, No. 4).  In Dick Olsher's words, the RM-5's bass is "tight and extended," the mids are "clean, with plenty of dynamic bloom," and the preamp generates a "spacious soundstage with convincing focus and resolution of spatial nuances.” He described the RM-5 as a "very enjoyable preamp," with "no serious sonic weaknesses top to bottom.”

The RM5 has a line input plus two tape loops and a phono stage that accommodates moving magnet cartridges.  The RM-5 features three 6922 tubes; this unit has one Sovtek and two JAN Philips 6922 tubes. An interesting feature is the adjustable gain; see the photo for more details. The power cord was upgraded a some point and there are four AudioQuest sorbothane feet. I sent the unit to Scott Frankland to be gone through. Among other services, he installed eight new Hexfreds and it is now performing at spec. Dead silent on my LaScalas. Cosmetics are about an 8 and performance is a 9 IMHO.

$750 including shipping to you in the lower 48. Please email any questions. Thanks.

  10. I need to find this baby a new home. I have accumulated a few too many amps... A great (IMHO) basic single ended integrated amp, the Pacific Creek SE300I uses 300Bs  and is conservatively rated at 10 Watts per channel. Zero global negative feedback (NFB) ensures the most detailed reproduction of sound.  SE300I features labor-intensive point-to-point wiring, 5Z3 tube rectifier, double chassis with mirror treated stainless steel surface, and 8 mm (5/16") front and back panels. This integrated is different in that like the Conrad Johnson CAVs, the preamp section is passive.

The unit was designed in Washington state and built in China. It is impressive for its sound and the lack of NFB is nearly impossible to obtain in amplifiers. While it sounds wonderful and comes with Chinese and Soviet tubes, it is amenable to tube rolling to further refine the sound. I will also email a pdf of the manual.

    Specifications:

    • Integrated amplifier with CD/TUNER/AUX1/AUX2 inputs
    • 10 Watts r.m.s. per channel
    • Zero global and local negative feedback
    • Point-to-point wiring
    • Potted transformers
    • 5Z3P tube rectifier
    • Choke input filter
    • 5-way binding posts for 4 and 8 Ohms speakers
    • Total Harmonic Distortion (T.H.D.) @ 1kHz, 8 Ohm:
      • Less than 1% at 6 Watts
      • Less than 2 % at 8 Watts
      • Less than 5% at 10 Watts
    • Tube Complements
      • 300B-98 x 2
      • 6P3 (Russian 6L6) or equivalent x 2
      • 12AU7 x 2
      • 5Z3P x 1
    • Input Impedance: 47 KOhms
    • Power Source: 120VAC
    • Power Consumption: 220 Watts
    • Dimension: 17" (W) x 15" (D) x 8" (H)
    • Weight: 68 lbs

I have several spare tubes I’ll include, as well the Electro Harmonix 300Bs I swapped for the stock Chinese 300Bs (also included).

Local pickup given its 68 pound weight. $500. Please email any questions.

Okay guys..I've had my share of being disgruntled but keep in mind being a Moderator here is an unpaid job. Also consider that the vast number of posts aren't even related to Klipsch and there are days/weeks they don't even show up.  I suggest if you have friends here get their information now because at some point they may shut us down for good.

Well, it is a commercial forum owned by Klipsch & its parent company. Any moderation begins with that premise. We tend tend to forget that regularly and veer off into all manner of non-Klipsch related topics. My favorites are those where the posters challenge Klipsch employees.  Personally, I'm surprised they still allow the Garage Sale & the Lounge sections. There are many other forums we can discuss Polk loudspeakers, DIY amps, etc. or thoughts about the current state of the world.

  12. Need some thump for your La Scalas? The Quad 303 is a two channel power amplifier designed for driving loudspeakers in the 4-16 ohm range and will provide an output of up to 45 watts per channel depending upon the load impedance. The input required for full output is 0.5 vrms unbalanced. Transistor triples are employed in a Peter Walker original circuit to provide a completely symmetrical output stage, quiescent current independent of junction temperature and symmetrical current and voltage limiting. Harmonic and intermodulation distortion products in the audio range are so low that they are difficult to measure in meaningful terms.

    Specifications:

Power output: 45 watts per channel into 8Ω (stereo)

    Frequency response: 30Hz to 35kHz

    Total harmonic distortion: 0.1%

    Input sensitivity: 0.5V

    Signal to noise ratio: 100dB

Speaker load impedance: 4Ω to 16Ω

    Dimensions: 120 x 159 x 324mm

    Weight: 8.2kg

This venerable Quad 303 power amp had been rebuilt and upgraded. The case has some small cosmetic nicks on cooling fins, but nothing that detracts or catch your attention.

Work performed: new audio grade Digikey capacitors on all PCBs and power; Nichicon output coupling caps. new Bourns 15 turn trimpots on all three PCBs; regulator, bias, & mid-point voltages adjusted; new AC switch; new gold plated RCA jacks (DIN plug is disconnected and not usable); new IEEC mains input; new rubber feet and a green LED in front for power on.

$450 including shipping in the lower 48. Please email any questions. Thanks.
