  1. Another blast from the past updated with Furutech Rhodium-plated Banana Connectors. These 8’ cables are in great shape: no electrical, mechanical or cosmetic issues. I updated the termination to Furutech bananas. The amp end are locking right angle connectors while the speaker ends are straight banana termination. These are decent copper stranded cables and will not impress your non-audiophile friends, but are wonderful to listen through. While not cheap at my asking price, in today’s inflationary marketplace, notwithstanding zipcord, they are not overly expensive IMHO. The Furutech termination is $160 by itself. $200 with shipping included or $175 plus shipping. Both are the same total, but some people like to think they paid less for an item…
  2. Price reduction to $2400 with all those NOS tubes. Telefunken smooth plates in the phono section! You can't do much better. I am headed to Jackson Center, Ohio this week and and can bring the unit. My route takes me through Nashville, Bowling Green, Louisville, Cinci and Dayton. Please let me know ASAP and we’ll make arrangements Thanks.
  3. Holy smokes, I'll bet they are not these Energy-Pumps I saw on US Audio Mart. All this, and more, from power cable with a stuck on label! Who knew all you had to do was tilt your equipment toward the power? "Yes, no matter what power cord you're using, if Energy-Pump doesn't bring you lively, elegant, melodious music, or even it doesn't meet your expectations. please send it back, that no cost to you. You have invested a lot of resources in your audio system in the past. Now you can use this upgrade to get the highest sound quality your system can bring you. Unlike compensation methods, we are committed to technically solving the problems that occur in the music playback of the audio system. So your equipment upgrade this time will bring long-term benefits to your system. This benefit does not go away if you change devices in the system later. The Energy-Pump power cord adopts our unique DPEC technology, which tilts the power supply to the audio equipment, giving priority to the audio equipment to supplement energy. The Energy-Pump can quickly replenish the energy consumed by the device and will bring the following features: 1) Music playback will be able to more realistically express the transition between two notes. 2) By improving the signal following characteristics of audio equipment, distortion will be reduced and manifested as reduced background noise in music. 3)Improve the control performance of the power amplifier. Reduce or even eliminate low frequency rumble, and the box sound of the speakers will also be reduced. The Energy-Pump improves the control of the power amplifier, the low frequency rumble will be reduced or even eliminated, and the box sound of the speakers will be reduced."
  4. Couldn't tell you. The only info on the label is Z Series. Thanks.
  5. Back when men were men and everyone knew you needed speaker cables as thick as your thumb, Monster accommodated us. These just under 1/2" thick, 15’ cables are in great shape: no electrical, mechanical or cosmetic issues. This pair has the Monster interchangeable connection termination. Currently it is set up all bananas, but other tips are included: 4 spades and two flex wires. Various tips show up regularly on eBay. Interestingly, with no tips screwed in, the pins work well with vintage plastic push connections due to the notch in the pin ends. Whether they live up the Monster’s marketing is debatable, but they are decent cables and will certainly impress your non-audiophile friends. While not cheap at my asking price, in today’s inflationary marketplace, notwithstanding zipcord, they are not overly expensive IMHO. $150 with shipping included or $125 plus shipping. Both are the same total, but some people like to think they paid less for an item…
  6. Just curious why you would not go with Dinan? They advertise up to 398 hp with your car. Several years ago I did their stage 1 with my 135 at the BMW dealer; no installation issues, 100% compatible, and no problem with my warranty. Just adding 30 more hp to the already silly 300hp was enough for me.
  7. No affiliation. https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649882124-klipsch-forte-ii-with-upgrades-for-local-pick-up-only/ Appear to be very well kept.
  8. Never had the chance to respond in this thread, but recently I picked up a used pair of Quicksilver Horn monoblocks. I must say I am impressed. They are not perfect, but they are DEAD quiet. The silence is literally deafening. The Horns allow me to more easily discern subtleties in the music; listen deeper into the music, so to speak. The only other amp I have that is quieter costs 5x (and therefore should be stone cold silent). They are just a pleasure to listen to; more precisely to not listen to. 🙂 And they are "adjustable." Not so much tube rolling, but when I listen to the LSIIs, I use a KT88; the Harbeths get an EL34. Matching the amp to the speakers. With 25 watts a side, they are a realistic option for Heritage speaker (and some others). And when you re-tube, they only have a total of 2 signal tubes and 4 output tubes. That makes it more reasonable to get a better tube when you only need a pair as opposed to needing 8. Brand new they are $1800 and available now. They come up used as well for a discount. They get my stamp of approval (which with .99 gets you coffee at McDonalds).
  9. If anyone is on the fence due to high shipping costs, I am headed to Jackson Center, Ohio next week and and bring the unit. My route takes me through Nashville, Bowling Green, Louisville, Cinci and Dayton. Please let me know ASAP and we’ll make arrangements Thanks.

  12. That's great. Mine would have graciously accepted them, too. Then she'd haul them into the backyard and set them on fire. She's funny that way...
  13. Very attractive speakers. From a review: The KEF 104.2 combines many of the familiar qualities of KEF speakers"a low degree of coloration, stable stereo imaging, a handsomely finished cabinet"with a novel design that’s intended to provide the high efficiency needed to reproduce wide-dynamic-range program material without excessive amounts of amplifier power. The three-way columnar system features a unique bass-driver configuration consisting of two upward-firing 8-inch drivers mounted entirely within the cabinet. The drivers operate in opposite phase in separate enclosures about 18 inches apart. The air volume between them, which loads the front of the bottom driver and the back of the top driver, opens to the outside through a frontal port about 4-1/2 inches in diameter. The 104.2’s bass system operates only up to about 150 Hz, and it appears that the internal air volume works with the port size and the crossover network to optimize its performance in that range. In addition to the considerable stiffening imparted to the cabinet by its internal partitions, the frames and magnet structures of the two bass drivers are rigidly joined by what appears to be an aluminum bar about 1/2 inch in diameter. The velocity of the air pumped through the port by the two woofers is considerable, but air turbulence is minimized by a smoothly rounded plastic bezel in the port.
  14. This has been fun, but in all candor I’ll second ClaudeJ1 and Islander and suggest if you plan on spending any time here and want some of the [usually] freely given information that you back out of the room and come back in with the volume at about a “5.” Otherwise I don’t think you'll get much more than trolling in return until you get the cricket treatment. It's your call.
  15. That would fit with the reviews indicating he does not know how to design an entire speaker. A man should know his limitations.
  16. LOL; read the reviews of Bill's creations; including the Snail which he asserts is a "superior" design... https://www.harmonycentral.com/forums/topic/188508-bill-fitzmaurice-plans/ You need to reconsider your sources.
  17. Having owned these units, I can advise they stack nicely and were designed with feet to mate with the tops of the other pieces. They are not designed to rack mount. I trimmed the corners of the plastic protecting the piano black tops so they would stack & not damage the tops. I had the CD on the bottom. The were not in a cabinet so the sides and backs were open to ventilate. The DAC is digital, was left on nearly 24/7 and did not generate any appreciate heat.
  18. Several years ago, KR Audio (aka Kron) made an amp with a transistor inside a vacuum tube. I was close enough to buying one that I emailed Kron to see if replacement "tubes" was available and they are.
