  1. I see, that must be why the government sent in 400 hired killers to whack Randy Weaver at Ruby Ridge,Idaho. I was there and it wasn't pretty. And I guess the World Trade Center fell down from old age. If you're not questioning these things happening in America, why not? The difference in our thinking is due to the generations between us. You will see but too late.
  2. Allen at the age of 66 one thing I'm not is naive. I agree with you in part on most issues but you're out to lunch on the A.C.L.U. issue and Unions also. As a skilled craftman myself I have watched unions protect people for 50 years that had no business having a job with their attitude. Lazy people need to get hungry and then their values will change. As for the A.C.L.U. they're nothing but a bunch of liberal attorney wantabees hiding behind the A.C.L.U. namesake. We are going to loose America because of this. I was at Ruby Ridge when our government sent in 400 hired killers to assasinate Randy Weaver for basically doing nothing. You can condone that if you like but not me and I certainly wouldn't think anyone else who ever went to war for their country would either. I realize this is getting off the speaker subject but it all fits into why we aren't what we used to be. Liberalism!
  3. Since I'm new to "Cornwalls" but not to high-end sound equipment I have a question that may seem loaded. I'm intrigued by the quality of these speakers that I seemed to have missed through most of my life. If the "Cornwalls" sound this good, what about the other Klipsch speakers. Is there a grading system like one through seven. Obviously the Klipschorns would be at the top but then what? Can anyone make an assessment on listening quality of the various Klipsch speakers? I have the original brochure that came with my "Cornwalls" and it lists them as general purpose speaker which sounds like "nothing special" which we know is nonsense. I could only hope to be able to hear them all and make a comparison of my own and that's not likely to happen. So what's the best to the last(not necessarily the worst)?
  4. HDBRbuilder isn't it a shame that all of the standards America was based on have disappeared in the last 50 years? All of the skilled Artisans that served apprenticeships under some hard headed old goat who knew the ropes and it was going to be his way or the highway. That's how I was trained and I wouldn't have it any other way. Unfortunately we live in a throw away society and a population that doesn't recognize quality or even care about it. The real problem is it can't be reversed, the Artisans are gone leaving no one to show how it should be done. I saw this coming 30 years ago and just shook my head in disgust. Liberalism is the worst thing to ever infect America. You couldn't even talk to an employee like you used to in todays world. They would either sic the union on you or the A.C.L.U. I wonder what those people will do when the wheels fall off?
  5. HDBRbuilder,I for one would like to recognize your wealth of expertise in this matter. Most of us "Cornwall" owners had no idea of the quality that went into these cabinets. It's very unlikely that Klipsch could ever duplicate these speakers even if they wanted to, for several reasons. I understand where you're coming from and just keep in mind that many of us out here appreciate the input you've shared with us on the manufacturing of these high quality speakers. It's not often when someone with "the know"shares it so freely. Thanks!
  6. I know my ears ain't what they used to be but I was just listening to some Dave Grusin at volume and I've never heard bass like that from any speaker. It gave me goose bumps. Thanks fellas for your input. I'd like to hear from HDBRbuilder. I'm sure he would like to hear how well these have been taken care of. I could kick myself for not buying these 30 years ago. Just think what I've missed.
  7. Boy, that didn't take long. I thank you for that. Is it possible that these are solid Walnut? No where have I seen any mention of solid wood cabinets, all veneered. I pulled the griils off and vacuumed the dust out. He said he had never taken them off because he was afraid to. If I want to pull the backs off, is there a seal? I'd like to have a peek inside. They've never been off either. I hope I can repay you guys for your help somehow. Thanks!
  8. I just have to tell everyone about my newly acquired Cornwalls. Just got them yesterday and fired them up this morning. They are everything you guys said they were, unbelievable. It was love at 1st listen or whatever. It's amazing how little power they require and how good they sound. I'm used to my Altec Barcelonas (voice of the theater)speakers and I'm sorry if that's a bad word on this forum,as I am new. You never know what you are missing until you hear them. This forum is absolutely great for someone who is looking for info on vintage speakers like the Cornwalls. Where else could this info be found? Thanks for sharing.
  9. Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum but I've been searching for info on my Cornwalls that I just purchased and was real happy when I found you guys. I'm the 2nd owner and they are beautiful. A few dings but otherwise pristine. Serial #'s 21T453 & 21T454. CWO and they are solid Walnut not veneered. Inspected by Randy ? (can't read last name) and tested by N.W.Bradford. I hooked them up this morning and they are awesome. They were bought in 1980 but don't know for sure when they were built. Any info you can share will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
