  1. ... an interesting drive this AM. fog banks. Limited visibility.... very limited in some spots. .... and factor in the mobile obstacles ... cows, deer, javelina ... I was kinda tip-toeing along. Ha. The little car hit 50mpg average on its odometer.
  2. I have stuff coming up in the garden ... and it isn't snow drifts .... green stuff
  3. We had a week of cold/wet ... 50's and moist ... and I'm with the others, whining about when winter will end, already... It's been in the low 70's this week. Next week ... no. 55` - 60` and damp
  4. sunny days, at this time of year, usually means the temp is cold. It is nice to see some sunshine, though.
  5. Oh????? What kind of "particularly nice herbs" might they be LOL. those don't require shelter here. The seedlings can handle cold pretty well
  6. Nah. I don't actively garden at this time of year. If I am, it is in starter pots, indoors at night. Most things can't take the cold. I'm doing soil prep. I can start direct seeding next month. I'm cooking today. Bread needs to be made.Doing some pasta. Abbreviated spaghetti.... sorta. Home-made hamburger helper. The pasta is elbows and I add cheddar cheese to the "sauce".
  7. Mornin' All No complaints about our weather ... this week.Low 70's. That's tolerable. A bit cool, but ... no snow Been working in the garden. Yeah, it's that time already. I have green out there, in spite of a few 17` AMs. Feeling a little older. Aside from tripping over a b'day [lucky 69], a younger friend passed -- going on 2 weeks ago. Pancreatic cancer. That one bothered me ... which is why I've been kinda quiet.
  8. our weather was not stellar last week. Windy and cold... It's visiting y'all now. I'm liking the iron man football games. The way it's supposed to be. today, the temps are approaching normal. . I split wood for the week. Reclaimed area in the garden from the Bermuda grass ... lot of digging. gonna pay for this tomorrow.... the line from "Old Folk's Boogie" come to mind "With the right medication ... won't be lazy..."
  9. it is 18`F ... and not sunny. The sun hasn't come up yet. I had to scrape frost off the windshield at 9AM yesterday. It's about 5 degrees colder this AM. Brrrr Calling for a "warm up" [big whoop] of temps in the mid 50's
  10. that's the storm that came thru here yesterday. It did make it to 50` today.Talk of 20` for a low tomorrow AM.
  11. ... and if I was serving it, I suppose it would be a pot roast weather today winter... about 50`, windy, and threatening rain. Hard freeze tomorrow AM. We might see some snow. I doubt it will stick. That is close enough for me. UGH! y'all are gonna love this system when it gets east of here
  12. there is talk of maybe a slight chance of the white stuff tomorrow night. The revised predictions are tending toward less and a smaller chance. it was "fresh" this AM. I grabbed the door knob, and it was cold. They say it was 23`. It gets cold enough to snow quite frequently ... being a desert, it's the lack of humidity. I am reminded of the bluebird skies of January, in IN.... it will be -17`F
  13. We make "Mexican cornbread". Cornbread with creamed corn, cheddar cheese and green chiles. Pretty close to what you made, John. That Salsa Casera is pretty good stuff
  14. Went to Sasabe. Water sample got taken. Because of the immediacy of the folks in Sasabe SON bugging out, the pets got left behind. With that being said, there has been an effort to get animal food to them ... and we were blessed with a bag of dogfood to deliver to the port of entry . I am guessing they are feeding at the port. We saw a momma dog and puppies running around ... Turns out, there were a few cats, too. The agents talked wife into taking a cat. So ... we now have a B&W female tuxedo cat. She doesn't speak English ....
  15. Mornin' all light roast Peruvian in the cup. I guess I am driving to Sasabe this AM. Just a quick trip. Some agency wants water samples.... routine testing. Wife won't be needing to do work. Since we got the big screen tv to use as a monitor, she can work at home .... When she rearranged her office to use the big monitor, it cascaded throughout the house. Finding many things we knew we had, but couldn't find. And it will be the same, the next time we need this stuff.
  16. I thought the same. "Country" music has changed a lot.
  17. folks go a little crazy when it's first legal. It will calm down, once the novelty wears off. Same thing happened here ...
  18. ....our sarongs range from camo to plush LOL
  19. I had big plans to do nothing. Murphy loves a plan. @ 7:30AM, I am clearing a plugged septic line. We're having fun now!
  20. Made some coffee. I think [here's my first mistake] I get to hang around the house today. I've been everywhere but home this week. Getting behind the housework. That's one thing that you can never get ahead of ... would be nice, if you could....
  21. .... I gave wife a night-night kiss last night. she had been eating salsa. heavy on the garlic and onion. I liked it Who decided that fresh breath was mint? A toilet "mint" smells fresh, too. I don't want to my breath to smell like one.
  22. ... when I was flying electric R/C helicopters, that was a real problem. The batteries we used were a single cell, capable of discharging 10A @4v and were the size of a book of matches. And YES they would light up if you shorted them. Multi-cell packs were supposed to be stored in ammo cans. see lithium polymer [li-po] batteries
  23. anyone remember the Flowbee? It's back. Miniaturized and has an onboard vacuum, Made for beard trimming and "manscaping" ,,, called the Vacutrim not affiliated
  24. Boy got me a bottle of red-eye ... Pendleton. Not a 750ml or a quart ... a full liter. Tried a sip. It will work. I'm not too fussy. It's not gin or vodka... I'll be able to drink it.
  25. I have a yeast dough coffee cake rising right now. Wife was playing Santa last night. Wrapping gifts all over the livingroom floor. The cats were helping her. I didn't go shopping this year. Wife did. I will get to be surprised at what I got for her. LOL
