  1. I really appreciate the detailed responses. You answered my basic question well enough to know I didn’t know what to ask, haha. I will digest this information. Thanks again, Ed
  2. I have a newby horn question. When a horn is listed as a 80x60 pattern ( elliptical in this case) and the horn has a second flare rate closer to the mouth, what section is 80x60 referring too? Or is this not really related to the physical horn but the radiation pattern of the sound wave? Thanks, Ed
  3. Thanks for the welcome Guf. I love OB bass but not everyone can pull their speakers out into the room, that is the case with a buddy of mine. That is what really brought me here, that and a thread regarding the Forte lll. Regarding horn bass, I have not heard it in a residential setting, I did however purchase plans for the Tuba several years ago, but never got around to building it. Actually, come to think of it, I did own a pair of Ed Schillings “The Horn”, a small back loaded horn, I liked it quite a bit although calling the output of that little fostex driver bass may be a stretch ;-). Best, Ed
  4. I test drove a Sabaj D5 and found it to be a very good sounding DAC, I returned it but it compared favorably to the DAC 2.0 in my Vinnie Rossi LIO. It falls within your budget, it uses the ESS 9038 Pro. The LIO is smoother switching between different formats and ultimately cleaner and more refined, but the Saba D5 was not embarrassed in any way, outstanding value. Best, Ed
  5. Which version of Cornscala is this for? Which mid and tweet? Thanks, Ed
  6. I built these a little deeper than typical which ultimately limits the high frequency to about 200hz, they can be built to play as high as 300hz. Best, Ed
  7. I have been running dual 12” servo sub in OB (H frame alignment) for several years. Outstanding tight bass, no overhang or boom as is typical with monopole bass (I have never heard horn loaded bass in a home environment). The amps have controls that really allow you to dial it in to 20Hz in room. Some run triples and I know of one gentleman that runs dual stacks of 6! These are sold as DIY but I won’t mention the name as this is only my second post here and I am not clear on the rules regarding that type of thing. I’m not certain I can receive PMs yet , but I will be happy to supply additional information if asked. Best, Ed
