Had a water leak, and both of my Forte II cabs are warped and completely destroyed. Not as big of a deal as you would think, as I have been planning on building new and improved cabinets for some time. I want to build shorter, deeper boxes with at least 1.5" of wall thickness and extensive internal bracing. I will obviously preserve the original internal volume. Has anyone done this before? I want them to look OEM, so I will be employing a cabinet maker to do the work for me.

Yeah, that's just rediculous. I now have a six-foot-six tall image with unholy bass. It's almost like the stack smoothed out the room response. Dynamically, I think I could kill myself with this, unbelieveable weight to the sound. Two thumbs up. The only thing I can't figure out is why I didn't think of this years ago.

So I had my Chorus IIs in my listening room, and a set of Forte IIs in the garage. I am going to attempt to stack the fortes on top of the chourses. WHat would be the best way to do this? Should I cluster the tweeters together by having the Forte upside down? Also, what is the best way to wire them, series? parallel?

Ha. Custom 18" driver (Fs 25hz, xmax 12mm), box tuned to 22hz via 2 6" ports, measures flat to 20hz in room, subsonic filter at 18hz. Powered by a QSC PLX amp and EQd by a BFD. It will go above and beyond the capabilities of my Choruses. On low bass-heavy music, the floor shakes in huge waves and everything moves. It modeled with extremely low group delay for a vented box (under 20ms to below 20hz) and sounds like it. Cost me all of $900 to build.

Wow the same two pics over and over. Now about one of a whole room? WOuld that make you have to take the price tags off of everything? The subs you have are pointless. One of each RSW? Why not 3 of one size? Looks more like an inventory than a collection. Oh, I forgot, you don't want anyone figuring out where you live by what the inside of your "living room" looks like.

Is it difficult to keep invisible speakers clean?

How did you blow it? I've pegged my MC452 into my Forte's and they've survived. Clip the amp?

The LaScala has such tremendous output in the mid/upper ranges that the bass can sound withdrawn by comparison. It also has relatively limited <40hz output. In terms of "fast" midbass kick however, it's awesome.

I can't listen to my system without the 2496 in place. It made a difference worth ten times its price.

I'm using the 2496 in my 2-channel system and have my Chorus II's +/- 2 db from 31.5hz to 18000hz at the listening seat. I'm not going to delve into a technogeek battle about the "sound" of DACs or what not. All I can say is that by using the RTA I cannot listen to my system unEQ'd now. It's horribly bright and edgy, and there is no pitch definition in the bass. I turned my Choruses into fast, detailed monitors that can still kick your *** silly.

Looking to upgrade the corssovers in my Chorus IIs. Please let me know what my options are.

I'm 49 or 50 days out since I ordered it. I picked it over the PB12U/2 because two cylinders are easier to position than a huge heavy box.

Going to put it up on E-pay but I figure I'd give the Klipschers first crack. I've got two, and it's complete overkill. I've got both of them at the first click on the volume dial and they knock things over all over the house. It's exactly one month old, and was manufactured on 12/6/05. I have the port plugs, AC cord, manual, fuses and all of the original packaging. Local pickup would be great, but I'll ship it, too. $1050 shipped or $1000 picked up. Note that the projected 20hz performance listed above is for an 8ft^3 box, which a 19" cube is not. Expect FAR less than that out of the supplied enclosure. Let's say that the 1w/1m 20hz output is 80db (not unreasonable given an assumed 90dB 1w/1m base sensitivity and a -10dB point of ~20hz). From what I have read there is some EQ built into the amp. Even with a "modest" eq of 3db (it's probably more like 6 or even 9) the effective headroom available is now 500w. watts/Db 1-80 2-83 4-86 8-89 16-92 32-95 64-98 128-101 256-104 512-107 So, what we have is an estimated 107dB output at 1m with the amp at clipping with the assumption of 3db of EQ. With 6db, 104dB should be expected. Keep in mind that the 80dB measurement is *with* room gain, likely over 15db, which leaves us at a ground plane measurement around 92-96 dB at one meter. This is spot-on performance out of a small sealed box.

I saw 120db once at 10' with my Chorus IIs, twin SVS PC-Ultras and 400wpc of Mcintosh.

My new SVS PC-Ultra (with another on the way) flattens my old KSW-15 in every way. It's like comparing a tricycle to a steamroller. It would probably take 4 ksws to match one ultra at 20hz. If you can find the ksws for $250 each, pick up 3 more. I sold my KSW for $500 locally, that's a good head start on an SVS.
