  1. Hey jhawk92 the Pioneer 563a is around $170 bucks at best buy for that price I feel its a good holdover model till other come down in price. You could always grab one at best buys try it out if you don't like it return it
  2. Hi jhawk92, Powering system with a denon 3803. Currently using the Pioneer 563 for sacd and DVD-a great unit for the price. If I am not mistaken I think I got the one pair of kg 1.2 from you. Since I also have a svs 20-39 PC-Plus subwoofer maybe the Chorus II might be a better choice. Just need to convince the other half that we need bigger speakers
  3. Hi all, Currently I have a pair of Quartets, Academy center channel and 2 pairs of KG 1.2 for the surround and back surround channels. Lately I been getting more into muti-channel music (dvd-a and sacd) and feel its time to upgrade the front speakers. I am planning on using the Quartets as the surround speakers and was wondering what would be the better match the Chorus II or Forte II for my Quartets?
  4. I am in the process of upgrading my current system and wanted some thought feedback on subwoofer. Planning on going with a 7.1 setup using Klipsch Quartets front mains, Academy center and Klipsch KG 1.2 surround and rear powered by a denon 3802. Room size is 20' by 15'. This system in used mostly for home theater, but I still want it to sound nice when I occasionly listen to music. Currently considering a SVS sub either the 25-31 pci or there new one the 25-31 pci plus. Does anyone have any thoughts comments on this brand of subs? Will a 25-31 be large enough to keep up with other speakers? Will the 25-31 be to small for the room size ect? I would like to go with the 20-39 svs but with already having to convince the other half that "we" need 2 more speakers for rear surround, I am not sure if the ideal of that large of a sub will go over very well.
  5. Thanks for responding Steve. After spending hours reading what others people thoughts and feelings are concerning Klipsch usage in a surround setup I have decided the best course of action is to sell my Klipsh and go with easy to use bose speakers. I'm joking folks its after 2 am and been reading forums last 4 hours please don't ban me LOL Anyways alot of intresting points where made on this issue. I would like to thank HornEd and talktoKeith along with other for taking the time to post there thoughts concerning this. I am still not sure yet on what I would personally find to be the best sounding. I have decided since I currently have a pair of KG1.2 and may be able to pick up another pair the best ideal is to go with the 7.1 system using 2 pairs of KG1.2 for now (1pair side surround and 1pair for rear) I am upgrading from a pro logic system this should make a nice starting difference. Doing it this way will allow me some time to adjust from the sound of dolby prologic to a 7.1 system before trying to decide 100% on the side rear speaker issue. Hopefully by doing it this way I will have a better ideal on what I find sounds best. Since Klipsch still makes the RS-3II and RS-7 I will be trying them out later. If I end up likeing the way RS-3II sound as side speakers it be a nice added bonus without taking away form my enjoyment of system now. (I am also the type that if I diddn't try going with 4 of the same speakers in back and sides I would always wonder if I made the best choice) This message has been edited by Ufanco on 06-15-2002 at 02:21 AM
  6. Wow and I thought I was confused enough already with what I needed to update system. Then you all add another piece of equiment I wasn't aware of into the picture. Well all I can say is its better to have more knowlege before spending money than after . Of course now having brain overload alot has changed since I bought/researched my system in 1994. I just wanted to jump into this post and thank you all for this great info keep it up guys. PS: How far are you from Maryland Jhawk I heard some loud bass rumbling tonight from the north thought it might be you and them new speakers J/K.
  7. Been watching ebay for speakers and I see there is a Klipsch KV2 center speaker there. Has anyone used a center channel speaker as a rear speaker in a 6.1 setup and if so how well did it work? I looked at the KG 1.2 info on site and and the KV2 is listed as the matching center for them. Rear speaker will be installed in wall so size isn't to much of a issue. When buying used Klipsh speakers what is a good rule of thumb concerning price? Is 50% of what they where retail a good goal to shoot for? 8. Thanks for the responce and the info on the copy protection interface (DVI/HDCP) here is one view of the issue. http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_9_1/feature-article-digital-home-video-2-2002.ht ml Seems like alot of people are still not aware of this issue concerning HDTV and copyprotection. DVI is the main reason I am waiting till summer/fall to buy one of these's TV. The new Sony models will have this interface. Hopefully for all the current HDTV owners out there DVI turns out never to be needed, but since it might I would rather be on safe side and buy a set with it. Sorry if I got off track from my starting post just thought others might find this info helpfull. Back to the 4.3 v 16.9 Sony question the new 34" 16.9 does not have the build in tuner anymore . It seems both these TV have the same features (3/2 pulldown DRC ect) so its just coming down to the issue of the screen ratio and screen size. I am glad to see I am not the only one thats unsure on 4.3 v 16.9. Since I posted this I have come across this site it gave me alot more info to consider and I felt others might find also find it worth a look. http://homepage.mac.com/hdtv_guide/ This message has been edited by Ufanco on 06-02-2002 at 10:53 PM
  9. Well thanks Jhawk now you got me thinking since I need to get a new receiver that maybe going with a 7.1 one would be a better ideal.(and I can blame it on you when wife starts yelling lol) Really thou how is a 7.1 system for Home theater. I was thinking the Denon avr-2802 seems to be a good value for the money but now wondering since it doesn't have 7.1. Have you found that 7.1 over 6.1 is something that really makes a big differance. I really don't want to be kicking myself later that I diddn't spend the extra money for the better system.
  10. Thank you Jeroham for the quick responce I would love to be able to upgrade that much, but with having to also upgrade the rest of the system (tv reciever dvd subwoofer ect) doing so at this time is outside of my budget. I am trying to use what I currently have for front and center as I am fairly pleased with the current sound I am getting using the Quartets and Academy speakers. I am reading from your responce that the rear channels are not near as inportant as main or center in a 6.1 setup. Since I can't afford to upgrade the fronts any suggestion on a speaker that would do ok with the current KG 1.2 as the rear speaker? Should look at getting better side speakers and using one of the KG1.2 as the rear speaker?
  11. Planning on buying a new Sony Xbr TV this summer/fall and going back and forth btw the 40" 4.3 or the 34" 16.9. Since the 40" 4.3 has around a 37" 16.9 veiwing area leaning more towards it. (The Sony 34" only has around a 27" 4.3 viewing size and also a smaller 16.9 viewing area) Since either TV going have black bars either on top or the sides depending on viewing source (don't like the stretch mode's) is there any reasons that btw these 2 TV's that buying a 4.3 is not the better ideal? I understand that alot more programing going be in the 16.9 format in the future but there's also around 60 years of programing filmed in the 4.3 ratio to consider. I figure that this will be my main viewing tv for the next 6-8 years.(I want a plasma or DLP TV by then hopefully price will be to a point I can afford) I just want to make sure I am not overlooking or missing something before I decide to go with the 4.3 over the 16.9.
  12. Hi I just found this BB yesterday and have to say wow, I spent a couple of hours going throu past post and was inpressed by the amount of friendly knowlegable folks here. Ok back to subject currently getting ready to upgrade my system. Current system is Klipsch Quartet for front mains, Klipsch Academy as center channel speaker and for rear speakers currently using Klipsch KG 1.2. I like to update to a 6.1 system and need some thoughts on what to do about rear surround speakers. Should I keep the KG1.2 as the side surround and try to find a new speaker for rear effect? What are my chances of finding either a single KG1.2 or another pair of them (seems these speakers where only made for 2 years). Should I just replace KG1.2 and get 3 new matched rear effect speakers? Are there any klipsh in wall speakers that would work with my current system and sound at least as nice as the KG 1.2?
