  1. Try going here. I buy all mine from here. http://www.dvhsmovieguide.com/dvhsrev/Action.Lasso?-Token=105669&-Database=DVHSreview.fp3&-Layout=Main%20Data%20Entry&-Response=althitlist.lasso&-operator=eq&Order%20Type=Order&-Sortfield=Title&-Sortorder=Ascending&-Search I know $35 sounds bad for tape but remember, this is Hi-Def and I'm sure HD-DVD will be more expensive to buy than regular DVD which will be available even after HD-DVD comes out. Expect to pay double for Hi-Def content. Just the way it seems to be right now. Take care Rick
  2. Hi there, I know that with my Sony sets if I receive a HD signal that is true HD it usually comes it and displays at 16X9 no matter what aspect ratio I have the sets at. As a matter of fact I can't adjust the aspect ratio of HD even if I wanted to. This goes for my new HD-VCR as well. I would think that your HD program either isn't true HD or it is HD that is 4X3 native. I assumed all HD came in and displayed at 16X9 but I guess I could be wrong. As for your remote, I also have one that came with my 5803 and I like it. It works well. I went to the manufacturers web site and downloaded software for backing up and programming there. Try searching the net, perhaps you'll find what your looking for. Sorry I couldn't be more precise. Take care Rick
  3. I hear ya avman, This is actually the second one I've had... I took the first one back specifically because it didn't have component in. I have since learned how to record HD without it although, component in would make life a whole lot easier. Damn copy protection fanatics... they make life very complicated to say the least. I will be very happy with my HD-VCR until HD-DVD comes along. At least I can enjoy my HD content and record HD content off satellite when I want. Rick
  4. Hi all, It's been quite a while since I've been on the board... Been real busy with other things. I have to relay my total enthusiasm at the beauty of the picture produced by this VCR. If you have had a chance to watch HDTV yet then you know what potential this machine has for producing exceptional quality pictures. HDTV has much better definition than DVD and twice the color clarity for pictures that seem to jump off the screen like nothing you've seen before. I know, you're all saying VCR??? TAPE??? why would I go backwards in technology and leave my beloved DVD with instant scene access and extras for a 25 year old format?? This is an extremely good question. One that I ask myself until I saw the quality this machine produced. Also, it just happens to be the only HDTV solution for Hollywood movies available to you and me... Joe consumer until the much anticipated and greatly delayed HD-DVD format is released. (Don't hold your breath) When I grab a tape I shake my head in disbelief that it couild be better than my DVD's but it is vastly superior in picture quality and about the same quality as DD 5.1 is from a DVD. Believe it... You can get HDTV quality for less than a quality DVD player will cost and for now, is the only way to watch Hollywood High Definition content when you want it. If you have been waiting for a reason to invest in this new (old) technology that is HDTV, then this is the way to do it. Once you see the quality, you will very quickly forget you're watching a tape. Just my humble opinion. Take care Rick
  5. Your room looks great Noz. I'd like to watch LotR's or AotC's there some time. Where did you get your SVS sign from? Didn't you have your subs on top of your LaScalas before the carpet went in? What happened with that arrangement? I want a projector one of these days. Just waiting until I find the right one. I'd like a Runco but the $20,000 price tag has me a little nervous. Take care Rick
  6. Hi guys, When I watched AotC's. I thought the sonic charges scene was fantastic. It really shook the old couch. I was watching with my system set to about +4 and forgot about the puch those charges had in the theatre. I almost crapped my drawers when they went off. VERY SOLID BASS. Of coarse, I have my Ultra's cranked up alittle higher then maybe some of you do. I also have all my speakers set to large and my bass management set to 40 hrz. The 7's can take it, believe me. I though the sonic charges had as much punch as they did in the theatre. Of coarse, I'm running some pretty nice equipment which probably helps quite a bit. I'm not bragging. Just trying to let you know that with the right equipment, set up the right way, you might get that theatre experience from the DVD. I'd be interested in "Ears" impression of the disk. Take care Rick
  7. I too bought both LotR's and AotC's. I got the statues as I believe in about 2000 years they might be worth a couple of dollars. Anyway, they are way cool and look real nice on my DVD shelves. I haven't watched LotR's extended version yet but I did watch AotC's and it was great. Great picture, great sound. The THX intro is the same as the one on TPM so nothing new there. You mentioned that the poisoned worm scene changed from the theatre, in what way? Take care Rick
  8. Hi Noz, I picked this set up at Furureshop a few weeks ago and I thoroughly enjoyed them both. I have Pulp Fiction on Laser disk and the DVD looks and sounds MUCH better. I highly recommend snagging the set. You won't be disappointed. By the way, did you ever sell your 7's? Rick

Hi all, It's a very well done movie. Looks and sounds great. I picked up the collectors/ultimate edition with the extra stuff and I really like it. I recommend you all at least pick up the standard edition which gives you the movie and the supplements. Take care Rick
  10. Hi there, The A & B terminals both get the same signal so no, you can't have a 9.1 system, the best you would get is a strange 7.1 system with four speakers producing what is normally put out by two speakers. Hope that makes sense. Take care Rick
  11. Yes Kain, But how do they sound?.?.?.? LOL Rick ------------------ Mains RF-7 Centre RC-7 Surrounds RS-7 Rear Centre 2 x RS-7 Sub SVS-CS Ultra x 2 Receiver Denon AVR-5803 DVD Denon 2800 T.V. Sony KP57HW40 Widescreen Bedroom T.V. Sony KV34XBR800 Widescreen Computer Pro-Media 5.1
  12. Hi Kain, Sorry but I just read this thread. Mine are 8 ohm, 250 watt which is good 'cause my 5803 puts out 170. Who the heck would listen to these things with 250 watts anyway. I can't turn mine up all the way with what I got without shattering the windows. 15. Hi there sgtlarsen, I owned the AVR-2802 but just recently traded it for the 5802... There's that dambed Upgrade-itis Extremus that Clue was referring to. Anyway the 2802 is a great piece that will serve you very well for lots of years. And any Klipsch speaker will be a great place to start. You surely won't be disappointed. Just remember, many of us here have $10,000 to $30,000 tied up in our theatres and it took us lots of years to get there so just be patient and enjoy your system. You will upgrade just like the rest of us as you can afford it and until you get to your version of Home Theatre Heaven.
