  1. Hi friends, Guess what? I ended up selling the r-610f, moving the rf3II to the living room and getting the RP280F!!! We traveled 3.5 hrs one way and got them, what a beautiful speaker. I am surprised the wife let me go for it. She apparently likes the walnut finish too. I guess as long as the "spouse approval factor" is not an issue, everything just gets a lot simpler lol I am totally in love with the RP280f, they look substantial, elegant, not to mention, they sound fantastic! I feel like they are more crisp and cleaner, especially in the high and mid range, comparing to the RF3II. Not saying RF3II is bad sounding, they are great too. And either one of them is an noticeable upgrade to the R-610f. Here is the pic to show off the speakers!! They are in great condition, maintained well and got them at a killer deal at $500 for the pair (I least I think they are totally worth it!!)
  2. Hi guys, I finally pull the trigger on the RF3II! I “unintentionally” mentioned the $300 deal (yeah, I negotiated the price down!!) to my wife and to my surprise she is totally cool with it (not so much on RP280F’s $500 deal). So we went pick them up right away yesterday evening. Upon arrival I found out one of the pin on the grill is broken but other than that they are in fair shape (minor scratch on cabinet). I got to set them up this morning and I like it! It is definitely an upgrade to the 610f in terms of clarity and imaging (played some Yosi Horikawa and it was amazing). Thank you all for your suggestions! I’m happy with the purchase!
  3. If $300 rf3 can give me performance not too far off than the 280f and is an noticeable upgrade to the 610f than that sounds like a go. The rf3 looks in decent shape, and according to the seller and pics there are no dent or damage of any kind except normal minor wears. I do like the look of 280 better besides the point that it is a better speaker. I guess I’m also trying to convince myself to go for rf3 as if i can get it at $300, that will save me $200 to maybe later invest on better subs... I don’t know. It is a tough decision to make lol
  4. I think deep inside my heart I know RP280F are better speakers but was wondering if it’s worth the price tag over the rf3 (if I negotiate the price down). If the performance isn’t super noticeably better than the rf3 in the HT setup then rf3 makes more sense to me (cheaper, no road trip, can get it sooner). The price difference is unknown since I haven’t negotiate it yet. But I was thinking to offer $300-$350 for the rf3 (listed $500) and the RP280F is listed for $500.
  5. Ah yes, that’s my current setup. So long story short, originally in my living room I had the 610f as my left and right, r52c as my center and r51m as my satellite, a 5.1 setup. Not long after that my HT in the basement was built, so I moved everything to the HT and felt like the center channel was too weak for the dedicated HT, therefore I bought the rp450c and move the r52c to the living room TV. Now the living room only has center so I have been wanting to move the 610f to the living room so that it has a 3 channel system but I’ll need two towers to put in the HT, hence this thread lol Originally I was looking only for 280f, but recently I have been looking at the used market and found the rf3 deal, and here we are!
  6. Thanks!!! But am I to assume either one will be an upgrade to my current front three (r-610f and to-450c)?
  7. Absolutely! In another word, rf3 will makes more sense only if I can get them cheaper than the 280f. Thanks a lot!
  8. I will keep my RP450C. I mainly use it for home theater (95%) but I understand that the front three will be better if they are in the same product line. Just wonder if I'd be able to get by with rf3 so that I don't have to drive 3 hours lol
  9. Hi Guys, So here comes the dilemma. I found a deal for RF3 II and RP-280F (different seller) and both of them are asking for about the same price. For RF3 its about 25 minutes drives, but for RP280F its a 3 hours drive one way. For about the same price, which one should I go for?
  10. I have not. I am fairly new to the forum so did not know about him. Would you share with me his information? Thanks a lot!!
  11. My current setup is RP450C pairs with R-610F as my main. the 450C was a recent upgrade so I can't see myself upgrading that without the wife killing me lol. Since this setup is for my home theater 99% of the time, I upgraded the center first , from R-52C to RP-450C, and moved the r52c to living room where we only do casual TV watching or baby shark for the kid... That being said, the living room only has a center so I really want to move the 610Fs to the living room and get myself a proper main in the HT. Ideally I would get rp280f, but I'm still waiting for the price to drop....
  12. Thanks! I still haven't give up on RP280F, hopefully the price will come down a bit. In the meantime, if the RF3 could work, I may get those first!
  13. Hi there, I know it’s is an old thread now but I’m curious how did you like the setup? I’m currently in a position where I have the rp450c and is hesitate to go for a pair of rf3, which has a pretty good deal in the used market. Do you like the setup? Is there any drawback? thanks!!
  14. Understood. One more question. Let's say, my wife is having a good mood and agreed to upgrade the HT system and keep the current R610F and R52C in the living room. Would it be okay I buy the left, center and right channel with RP series and use the existing R41M as my surround in the HT?
